This month sees the premiere of two great new brands on QVC. Philip Montello fashion launches on Sunday 9th December with a fabulous collection, and Remonte Dorndorf premiere on QVC with a fantastic footwear range on Friday 21st December.
Philip Montello began his illustrious career in fashion as Design Director of Guy Laroche USA. While working there, he successfully designed and marketed a variety of women's and men's ready-to-wear fashion and accessories.
Philip's designs have been worn by many celebrities including recording artist Reba McIntire, Oscar-winning actress Shirley Jones, and Matilda Cuomo, the wife of former New York Governor Mario Cuomo. In addition, his work has appeared in French and American Vogue. We caught up with Philip to find out a little more…
Tell us about yourself and how you got started?
All the years I spent working with French designer Guy Laroche taught me plenty. As the Design Director for North America it gave me a great opportunity to learn about all the various areas of fashion design.
Travelling to Paris each season, I was exposed to the top fabric mills and embroidery houses of Europe, which helped define my sense of style and taste. I spent the next years designing evening wear for such well established labels as Victoria Royal and Mignon.
I was involved in creating everything from women’s dresses and sportswear to coats, shoes and handbags. It was a great training; I travelled extensively and met people from all walks of life. I feel that the experience I gained from that time helps me to design for today’s women.
What inspires your designs?
I take inspiration from everything around me in life. There are always trends in fashion but inspiration comes from what I see the women in my life wearing, from colours, fabrics, art, music, film and theatre.
What are the trends and fashions that you love?
There are many trends but I think this coming spring we are going to see many more floral prints that are a mix of bright colors and neutrals. Lace has been an ongoing trend for the last year and it looks like it will continue. Lace has been a very important category for my collection, stretch lace dresses have been remarkable, women love them and want more of them.
Gold 'nail head', studs and trims are the new decoration for clothes and accessories. You see them everywhere on clothes, shoes and bags. Colour is also so important for spring. This year the palette is filled with bright colours, ranging from pastel hues of sky blue, pale pink, soft yellows and greens to shocking tones of royal blue, fuchsia, strawberry and lemon. Short skirts, bare legs, and a sixties feeling also fills the air – a real tribute to Mary Quant and the short A-line mini dress.
Also launching this month on 21st December is Swiss-German footwear brand Remonte Dorndorf. After opening their first factory in 1876, this range quickly became a household name in Europe and now they produce exceptional quality footwear to many countries all over the world.
The superior construction and craftsmanship of Remonte footwear means it is exceedingly flexible and comfortable, as well as very durable.
The luxury leather designs offer on-trend styles for all age groups with generous width and depth for a great fit, plus a lightweight, flexible and shock absorbing design.
Offering everything from boots to sandals and court shoes in a wide variety of materials and colours, much of the range has leather insoles, many of which are removable, creating breathable styles that are as comfortable as they are stylish.
Don't forget to tune in for these great fashion launches this month, on the 9th and 21st!
