Disappointed… again!

I put off writing my blog on Friday as I was hoping to be celebrating an England win in the football on Sunday evening. As a passionate football supporter and equally passionate about my country, the best I can say is that it was a 'tired' looking performance and the best team won on the night, even though we had managed to hold Italy to a 0 – 0 draw for 120 minutes.

The actual football aside, it was lovely to drive back from work after my Pilates show and see all the crosses of St. George flags fluttering from buildings and cars. I got myself in the mood by playing Land of Hope and Glory on my CD player – sadly the hope was more appropriate than the glory! Oh well, World Cup Qualifiers here we come!

I hope you enjoyed QVC over the weekend, I certainly did! It was good to see and work with George Simonton again… love his new look! And of course the lovely Renee, who is always a pleasure to work with. And then Sunday it was the first of the QVC Customer Beauty Award 2012 nomination shows. It made me smile how well they all got on in the Green Room backstage, no animosity at all. I thoroughly enjoyed the show, and if you want a full list of the nominations, so that you can vote for your favourite, then check out our homepage or click on this link: Customer Beauty Awards

My QVC weekend concluded with Pilates, another of my favourite shows and guests. So what have I got for you this week? Well midnight sees the launch of our Destination LA event and the Antthony TSV – Jilly, Deb Flint and I were all sporting it on Sunday so hopefully you like the look and will be tuning in tonight.

The rain seems to have abated at the moment in the South East, so if you are a tennis fan enjoy Wimbledon. If you have been a victim of the floods, I hope you get cleared up soon.

Much love, Julia xxx

    Hi Julia
Like you I was hoping for an England win, but never mind we did look much better than we did in the last world cup, and like you said we hold Italy to 0-0 for 120 minutes, with more young players we can look forward to Glory in the next world cup. I have been watching lots of QVC, as it is so hot here, 38 every day, they said it is never been that hot in June for 25 years.
So thank God for Wimbledon and QVC, as I spend my days indoors with the air condition on watching TV.
Looking forward to Super Sunday and lots of TSV.
    Much love.

    Hi Julia
Just watched Italy beat Germany then switched channels and just caught the end of the tennis, plus sent a few tweets (a couple to yourself)! and earlier in the day witnessed the Olympic torch relay in Nottm and saw Torville & Dean skate a new routine with the torch at the National Ice Arena. I now feel quite exhausted but i am determined to stay awake for the Red Carpet Manicure TSV which i came across in Florida recently but could not buy because the LED lights would not work in the UK. I can’t wait to try it.
    Have a good week

Hello Julia Is was a shame England went out but I think they did well against italy for 120 mins like you said and last nite they beat Germany so it shows what a good team italy are. I am looking forward to super Sunday even though my purse not keen lol, might have to have the elemis tsv love the eye gel from the last tsv. Take care Carole Wigan x

    Hi Magda
I admire your confidence that England will do well in the World Cup – I do hope so. I bet you are shocked about Rafa? …. unbelievable!
Enjoy Super Sunday from the cool of your air conditioned living room . Believe it or not it was hot here yesterday with temperatures of 29 in the south, but the north and Scotland suffered flash floods! Crazy weather.

    Hi Sue
I saw and replied to your tweets – hope you got them? I would love to have seen Torville and Dean skate the routine – I am a big fan of theirs and love Dancing on Ice!
You sure had a busy day yesterday ( and pretty emotionally draining too ) so hope you managed to stay up for the TSV launch. I am not on with it today so haven’t had the chance to try it, but Debs Flint is raving about it!

    Hi Carole
The defeat was pretty gutting for all England fans but it shows how well our defence did as Germany simply couldn’t cope last night. Was sorry for Ozil as he is really a fabulous player.
I’m on Super Sunday at 1pm and 3pm so maybe see you there

    Hi Julia
Just a quick note…thank you for raising the reviews gremlins for me. I have spoken to a very nice lady who has looked into it and said that nothing like that has happened before i.e. 3 reviews on one item from the same person…it could only happen to me lol! They are removing 2 of the reviews and asked which one I would like to keep and I told her to take her pick! Anyway all sorted now, hopefully!
As for the selling skills, thank you for your tips…we are honest and sometimes wonder if we give far too much info, but we didn’t need any skills as they never turned up, although they had the foresight to ring our local village shop and asked if they would let us know, which they very kindly did and we stuck our feet up and watched a film instead!
I had just bought they Revitalash pack before you said you were going to give it a go, so maybe when it arrives I may do the same as you and then compare pics, what do you think, although you’ll have a head start on me?
It was a real shame about England, but I never bank on anything these days…cut their pay and make them hungry for it…Rooney feeling tired, at his age…lord help us or what?!
The pink birkis went very well with the PJ’s by the way!

Yvie, sorry to hear about your Mum and your cat, loosing two people very close to you (yes, pets are people, they’re your friends too) almost at the same time is heartbreaking, but it does get easier as time goes on…just remember to let it all out and cry when you need to, much better out than in.
    Big hugs x

    Hi Julia
OMG, my Rivatalash arrived this morning…having sensitive eyes like yourself, I thought of doing what was advised to you.
Went into the bathroom and cleansed with Floracil, then eagerly took the delivery note off and opened what I thought was a very big box for such a small item…
‘6 pairs of reading glasses and 1 pair of sunglasses??!’
Had a real laugh about it with customer care…somebody expecting reading glasses, no doubt has received Revitalash instead. Hope they don’t think the Revitalash will improve their eyesight lol!
It could only happen to me!

    Hi Julia
You shouldn’t be truly surprised, why change the habits of a lifetime? Call me biased – I am a man u supporter – but what is your opinion on David Beckham not being chosen for the olympic squad? On footballing skills alone, he ought to have been picked. He is a great leader of men, so his presence on the pitch would be so valuable to the performance of the team. It would be so easy to solve the problem; do remove the limit on 3 over 35 players.

    Hi Julia
Hope you are having a well deserved holiday in Spain and the sun is shining down on you. It’s actually sunny here this morning, so we are painting the picket fence…Oh joy!!
Shame about Murray, but I didn’t watch any of the final, as I feel that when I do they loose…we have instead been watching the Tour de France, brilliant! I really don’t know how those guys do it, hundreds of kilometers every day and so far one rest day inbetween…ouch! Afraid the footballers could take a leaf out of their book, it makes me so mad how much they get paid for kicking a bag of air around and then say they are tired…interesting to see if they could keep up with these guys cycling in the Alps! Oops!…sorry Julia, I know you and many others are avid football supporters, but I do have the greatest respect for the cyclists having watched them every day and Bradley Wiggins and Mark Cavendish are doing brilliantly for Great Britain! NO matter how much pain they are in they get back on their bikes and carry on, there’s determination for you…never seen anything like it.
Must say got very confused with the new web site this morning, with the ‘Presenters blog’ button missing and the web first button too…found you eventually though…must be getting old lol!
Afraid I did leave my very honest feedback on the experience, as you can immagine…it is very confusing though, even for me and I feel sorry for the older generation as it took me a while to realise you were via the ‘community icon’ at the bottom of the page…then when I clicked back to QVC, it told me my session was timed out… perhaps they didn’t like my feedback lol!
Looking forward to seeing you back on air…we do miss you, when you’re not there!

    Dear Julia
In an effort to try and get more male products on QVC, I’ve discovered the Bulldog skincare range (www.meetthebulldog.com). I’ve previously been a moisturiser-abstainer, but their sensitive moisturiser has converted me. Just a few days into the new regime, my skin feels tighter and fresher than it has for years. They use all organic ingredients, and they’re not overpowering in the fragrance department. Could you persuade the buyers at QVC into taking a look?
    All the best

    Hi Julia,
Have never messaged you before but I was so impressed with the recent Liz Earle make-up show (think it was Saturday). May I say your skin and eye area look fantastic, don’t know what was done but you looked so fresh and natural, the best I have ever seen you. Not to say that you don’t normally look good, you always do, but this particular show you really looked years younger somehow. Was it really all Liz Earle make-up? I have used her skin care for years and absolutely love it, I have a birthday in August so I think I will be using birthday money for what ever you were wearing!
    Lots of love

A quick post before we fly off to spain for 2 1/2 weeks, i was going to mention like the other lady about your skin on the Liz Earle show too, your
skin/face looked smoother and totally different to the other day, when you were on. I wonder if it was all Liz Earle make up.!!! I have received my Deep Bisque make up, must say it’s great the colour is perfect for my skin tone, will have to try more of her make up, i am looking for the perfect lip gloss,at the moment, one that actually stay’s on. Hope you are enjoying the hot weather as i am, came just in time for us to enjoy it before our hols. Speak soon.

Firstly I am so sorry I haven’t replied to you earlier – I have been off from QVC for most of July so I haven’t been looking at or replying to posts on my blog.
I am so sad to hear your news about your Mum and your cat. I can only imagine how desolate you must be feeling at the moment but time is a great healer and eventually the pain will ease.
Please know that I am thinking of you and do write to me at Chiswick Park if I can be of any help.

I haven’t started on my Revitalash yet as I thought I would wait until I was back at work properly after all my time off – that is tomorrow, so I had better get my camera out! Have you started yet after receiving the wrong item to start with?? – as you say, only you!
Any more viewings on your house? We have to start looking in earnest as we have only taken this house on a six month let and I definitely want to buy next move! …… where are you LOL????
    Hope you are feeling OK

    Hi Louise
I must agree I was rather shocked that David Beckham was omitted from the GB squad – the three players over 23 rule has not worked in our favour nor for Spain who are now out of the competition. I thought Becks looked very dapper in the Opening Ceremony though! I think Craig Bellamy has being playing very well for Team GB and what about the ‘Ladies’ … great win against Brazil last night.
Hope you are enjoying all the other sports too

    Hi again Annette
Just read your post about the cyclists. Bradley Wiggins winning the Tour de France was AMAZING!!!!! Now of course we are well into the Olympics and he goes in the time trial today so fingers crossed.
I felt very sorry for Mark Cavendish last Saturday but the peloton allowed the leading group to get too far ahead. At least Lizzie Armitstead got the silver – fantastic achievement, particularly as she had to put up with ‘the best’ the British weather could throw at her!
LOVING the swimming in the Olympics and can’t wait for the athletics to start!

    Hi Sue
Firstly thanks for the lovely compliments about my skin, although I will now be worried every time I am on air as I did not do my make-up myself that day. It was done, using Liz’s make-up range, by a fantastic make-up artist called Kerry September who regularly does Liz’z make-up for on air. I must say I loved it too which is not always the case when other people do my make-up. I didn’t have to alter a thing! She is BRILLIANT!
You should try the range there are some really nice products with more to come in September.

Not sure if you can access this in Spain but if you can have a great holiday.
As I mentioned to Sue my make-up for the Liz Earle show was done by Liz’z make-up artist Kerry September. I have already asked her to do my make-up for the portrait photo for my book which is now finished!!!!!! She used Liz’s make-up products on me and I must say I was impressed – I actually really like the lip glosses so maybe give them a try.

    Hi Julia
Glad to hear you have finished your book and it’s all down to editing and then finally off to print?
Like yourself I’m really loving the Olympics, although I wish the Beeb would stop all this chopping and changing of channels…we nearly missed Mark Cavendish, having set the TV up to record the event, only to find it changed channel 3 times!
GO WIGGINS!!!!! Didn’t he do well…the man’s a machine or what 3,500 kilometers Tour de France and now another Gold Medal to boot!
Chris now wants to get us some bikes…I’ve asked for one with stabilisers or a tricycle, not to mention, knee pads, elbow pads and any other type of pad going…not taking any chances with this leg of mine lol!! Seriously though, I’ve not ridden a bike since my days at Pontins, some 25 years ago eeeek!!
Love all the swimming events too, especially the Diving…we were doing so well until the 3rd dive, then it was hard to get it back again.

Hi again Julia, forgot the Revitalash…like yourself very sensitive eyes, but have had no problems at all and I’m using it every night…can’t tell at the moment, but the big surprise will be my lower lashes on the right eye because towards the outer edge there is a small gap without lashes and I never put mascara on my lower lashes because of it…now if they grow that would be something else!
Another viewing this weekend, but I think sunny Shropshire would be too far a commute for you lol!
Just for your info, there is a problem with the reviews. Apparently the new website isn’t recognising some of the old websites nicknames on the review system, so at the moment I’m not able to review items along with others and your web team are working very hard to get it sorted.

    Hi Julia
Good to see you back. Mum is doing just great thank you. Her new medication seems to have done the trick and she’s now been discharged by the hospital and just has to have regular blood tests with her GP. She’s recently started going out occasionally by herself which is a good sign as she’s normally fiercely independent!
