Debbie, Daleks and a Doctor, plus sneaky peeks galore!

Who is this with me and the one eyed monster and its plunger?! See below for info! And a week full of reminiscing this week, as well as a couple of fun videos – all below in this week’s Friday update!

Girls’ Night In

But first, we had a girls’ night in this week – well, evening, as I was off to work afterwards! Mum, sis Linda, plus Bek her girl and Alison, all decided to try on the new Elemis face masks (go here to see the range). These new masks are just part of the fabulous Superfoods collection which Keeley launched on Beauty weekend, and some of them smell good enough to eat! In fact, the berry one actually says ‘do not eat!’ Together with an exfoliator, they create such an incredibly soft surface on your face, ready to put on all the expensive potions and lotions and creams. Linda loves Elemis – she works with it at her nail spa – and mum’s got sensitive skin but still enjoyed the berry one. The Superfood greenish one was on Alison and Bek’s faces. It’s always nice to see the girls, we really must do it more often.

We’re in the countdown of course to our holiday. Not long now and we’ll be cruising round the Caribbean, starting with a three night stay in New Orleans. Never been, so am looking forward to it greatly. I’ll be doing a vlog every day, internet allowing, so do make sure you follow my social media in order not to miss anything! List is at the bottom.

This weekend’s highlights

Today (Friday 1st Feb) – go here to see and buy now (if any left!) the new Tarte  five-piece Best Kept Beauty Sea-crets collection – with a super non-drying foundation, one of their best, IMO, vivid mascara, loooovely lippy and brush together with metallic palette for eyes. Super!

Saturday (2nd) – join me Friday midnight for the new Gtech Air Ram MK2 cordless vac – the one you may have seen all the telly ads for!

Sunday (3rd) – join me Saturday midnight when I’m also launching – this time the long awaited return of Liz Earle basics for skin – and body – the new Eucalyptus & Cardamom Cleanse &Polish Body is also included – great set and amazing value – why not stock up? Get it early by going here to the early bird order link – be quick, it always goes fast! And check it out in advance on Will’s latest blog here.

And do join me Sunday tea time over on QVC Style at 4pm and 6pm as well for two super shows, Clogau and Tignanello – I love Carla, so am well-pleased about this!

Big deals – if you missed my QVC Facebook live on Tuesday, I was talking all about the Big Deals that end this Sunday – go here around Tuesday at 8pm to see what we got up to!

See below for next week’s offers and sneaky peeks!

Big Deals ending Sunday…

Here are the special one week offers, which end this Sunday 3rd at midnight. There’s the MZ Skin Germanium Roller with Hydra Lift Golden Eye Treatment Mask, perfect for beauty fans; two pairs of Platinum Orthotic Insoles from Walk Fit, great if you’re on your feel all day; and for fashion fans try the MarlaWynne Ripple stitch tunic shirt.  Go here to see and buy them all now.

Happy birthday Emma

My lovely pal Emma from Imedeen had her birthday this week – I won’t say how old! But we were talking about ex’s and kids and how lucky we are that our children have got on so well, all four ending up at uni. But it’s expensive, of course. Back in the day, we recalled, we not only didn’t pay uni fees, we got a full liveable grant to go to uni if our parents needed us to! London School of Economics was my uni and I’d toddle along to get my cheque every semester and use it to zip around the capital getting up to all sorts. I had a tiny fiat 126 at the time and used to park it in a back road near the Kingsway uni buildings near Holborn. There weren’t even any yellow lines and far fewer cars on the road back then – god it makes me sound old! Lol. Having gone to a uni in London though, I encouraged my kids to go to campus uni’s – both in Bath – as they had a much better time being away from home in a better layout rather than being in the middle of tons of grey buildings full of people nothing to do with the uni. You?

Baby Blake’s growing feet

Awww bless! Look at these little shoes – my bubba Blake was adorable again last week when I went to babysit one afternoon before work. She’s almost walking across a room now, not confidently yet but doing so well, as I said last week. She likes to hang on to the furniture, as they do, and I surprised her by going ‘boo!’ around the door as she held on, laughing her head off. Little Phoebe had a little giggle last week too. My lovely daughter Lauren, her mum, made me smile when she posted ‘I can’t wait to hear your voice, my little girl, and have chats with you.’ Ahhhhh! How sweet – I recall thinking that with her, and it’s such a lovely feeling when you have little ones, isn’t it?!

Congrats to us

My original novel writing group also had a get together last week – we’ve been together ten years this year – how time flies! Many have written lots of books – Carolyn Mahony has six – she’s beating me by one – some great crime novels in there too. Mine were all originally steamy romances, of course, and a few anthologies and short stories and nonfiction. Litty is publishing her first this year, but she got an MBA in the process, and Alix, not pictured, has three to her name. But lovely Maureen – sitting next to me – is the queen of the group. Over Fourteen! Including several as Merryn Allingham, such as time slips and period novels, she’s very prolific and super talented. I like her Second World War ones like The Girl from Cobb Street. So I thought I’d feature…

Book of the week

House of Lies. A time travel mystery romance (!) by Merryn as my book of the week… it was out in May and is still in the top 50 in Amazon’s time travel chart. Yes there really is one. Well done all of us, I say! Especially Maureen, or should I say Merryn. (Actually I’ve just twigged why she’s Merryn – bit like Maureen only more ‘authory’ isn’t it?! Maybe I’ll have to call myself ‘Debbyn’ – what do you think my author name could be if I strike it lucky with my 5th novel French or Dutch? 😊

Pinch punch first of the month! New deals for Feb…

Well it’s a super new Skinsense Pick of the Month for beauty this month – can’t wait for it to be on – I love Abi Cleeve’s range. She’s brought us a special serum which seems to do great things – more on our website here including a video explaining more about how to use this really affordable cream (for zero P&P just for February) to get super smooth skin.

Also – check out these fab Diamonique (simulated diamond) bracelets – the new jewellery Design of the Month – I know Ali Keenan’s looking forward to bringing you these in her regular slot, and I’m glad they are a really easy design – they’ll go with so much! Get yours and find out how much here.

Vlog of the week

Ok so not everywhere had snow, but Banstead in Surrey did, and when I went to visit my sis and poorly mum this week, I did a little walk around the snowy grounds – lovely! Go here to see it, and do follow my social media for stuff like this when I’m away from QVC, especially when I’m in Devon – country walks abound! Hope you were safe and warm in the cold spell last week. I love it – I recall when I was a kid and we’d all go outside in just socks and wellies for hours and come back in with buzzing feet as they were ice blocks, warming up in front of the 70s electric fire. Ahh memories!

Doctor… who?!

Talking of memory lane, one of our guests sent this to me this week – Stephen Cranford a Dr Who fan, is doing his own storyboard in fact, and has pics from the famous (in Dr Who land) ‘BSB Dr Who Weekend,’ from around Sept 1990. Filmed in the old QVC building three years before QVC arrived, our nightly show 31 West did a ’31 Who’ series of links featuring old doctors, assistants, gadgets and devices, monsters and props. Who fans did a quiz, and lots of original material was shot to commemorate the then retired series and its famous faces. Not long after that, a new series came to be. John Nathan Turner, rest him, is the guy in the pic and was one of the last producers at that time. Nice memories! I got to wear Honor Blackman’s outfit from many years before, I think, if I remember rightly – and it fitted – just! Lol. Funny what jobs some of us QVC presenters had in the past isn’t it?!

Watch – film fest!

OMG what a time I had last Friday with all day to myself as I’d come back early from my Devon week for the get together with my writing pals. First I saw Stan & Ollie – a touching heartfelt account of their latter days, and how they tried to resurrect their enormously successful career after the heady days of Hollywood had begun to fade, including a tour in Britain. Then I saw Vice, another biopic, with an unbelievable Christian Bale performance – he is such a versatile actor. He starred with Steve Carrell amongst others – that man never stops working! – in the tale of one of the most successful of USA’s vice presidents Dick Chaney. Loved Amy Adams as his wife too – through all the generations of their relationship and rise and fall and rise amidst some of the biggest upheavals in US politics. Great! Then finally the visual feast that is ‘Mary Queen of Scots’ with Saoirse Ronan and Margot Robbie taking the roles of Mary and her adversary Queen Elizabeth I the first. Based on true events, all three of them, and eye opening in different ways, I give all three films a good 8/10, Stan & Ollie probably 8.25/10.

Next week – another film fest? As this goes to press there’s a menu of films in Richmond, which means I could choose to go to either Colette or Beautiful Boy (probably Colette) followed by Green Book followed by Can you Ever Forgive me.  All with a book connection, how quaint!

The next seven days on QVC

Monday – it’s Cozee Home day! With something different – a super Juno soft pile Rug Today’s Special Value

Tuesday – the set of five reading glasses including one pair of varifocals, is back for the usual incredibly low price – don’t miss them if you’ve lost half of yours again and need to stock up once more!

Wednesday – it’s the turn of the Julep five-piece Brave Pretty Make-Up Collection and bag

Thursday – then Kim and Co bring us their new hi-lo hem tunic in a lovely soft touch fabric.

Friday – Alpha H are back! With a three-piece Liquid Gold Radiant Skin collection – not only a big size of their wonderfully powerful Liquid Gold itself, but a balancing cleanser in a huge size as well as a daily moisturiser SPF. What a great way to give your face routine a spring clean in time for, well, spring!

Next week on the blog

Another Devon week and a new look at some of my rooms at the guest house – having had some work done with more on the way when I’m away on the Cruise in under two weeks’ time!

Best wishes
