Cycling road blocks mean away-day, Elemis spa treat, & sneaky peeks galore!

Top pic - Wooton village hallThis week –
- Awayday – and night – courtesy of road race closures

- First peeks at new colours from Red Carpet Manicure coming soon

- Elemis facial and heavenly massage, plus peeks at new Elemis items on 12th

- And some fab holiday entertainment recommendations

Stop press – it’s this Sunday!

Join me in a nearby village, Wootton, for a pop-up tearooms being run in aid of the local church fundraiser for gluten free cakes, cream teas and coffee! 11am-4pm this Sunday (11th) at RH5 6QQ, behind the Wotton Hatch pub near Dorking.

I’ll be meeting some of my beta readers too to sign their books, so do let me know if you’d like to come down and get your book signed or just say hello! @debbieflint

Winner of the Liz Earle competition last week, is Linda, who posted on Aug 6th at 3pm. We’ll be in touch! Another fab competition soon…

But first, what did you do last weekend? Were you affected by a certain cycling event creating mayhem from Wapping to Dorking and back again?

Well I was – and to avoid it, I stayed overnight nearby to QVC. You see, anyone travelling near the RideLondon Cycling Festival route would have been subject to traffic chaos once more.

Sure, it’s worthy, it’s fabulously exciting for those involved, and it’s good for our sporting profile. But if you were a Londoner stuck in a jam, being detoured, or road-blocked into your house from 5am till 6pm somewhere along the huge route, it was actually a bit annoying!

Personally I was lucky enough to be put up in a local hotel Saturday night, round the corner in the Chiswick Moran, where a huuuuuuge bathtub awaited me.

BathtubI think when I’m a grown-up, I’d like a freestanding bath like this one! Had an amazing soak, and nearly fell asleep and slid under, it was that relaxing!

(As you’ll have seen, if you follow me on Twitter (if you don’t see bottom) – it was fab). Seriously, it was a lovely room.

I do like mini-breaks and hotel stays, bed and breakfasts and stop-overs, do you? Anything but camping! Something about getting away from it all probably?

I took my laptop so I could work on my manuscript for my new novel, the prequel to Hawaiian Affair (see the latest news about it below), and thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Daughter Lauren and bf Nick kindly house-sat for me, so it was they who were under house-arrest instead of me, until way past tea-time Sunday! By which time Craigy and I had gone for our lovely spot of lunch together.

Debbie and Craig Rowe Top pic - QVC group

We grabbed a bite to eat in one of the cafés opposite QVC – over the pond in Chiswick Park – a lovely place to do some chilling on a lazy Sunday afternoon. And after we’d put the world to rights, it was back to work where we came across a corridor full of colleagues!

Producer Kerry and director Christian appeared in Charlie’s tweet-pic alongside me and Craig, plus Dale – he and Charlie had another one of their 3 hour Diamond Extravaganzas! (Did you see any of it? It was great fun!). After my shift I was glad to get home – but have been out a lot this week again!

Debbie in Elemis spaOn Thursday afternoon for instance, I was up London again.

First, to go for a wonderful spa treatment, then a gorgeous back massage, followed by a fabulous facial, and then dinner with a pal. I went to the Elemis Day Spa, near Bond Street tube, and had a clever lady called Sally.

She did an analysis, using a special machine, on my facial skin then selected a lifting treatment. Next was the most amazing massage. Soooo relaxing and highly recommended. Find out more about where you can get one done too.

Elemis 30 Day Lift Effect Super SysteLook what I’ve been trialling for the show I’m presenting on Monday 12th! Coincidentally, it’s the 30 day lift effect set – which was handy considering the treatment my skin needed! It’s gonna be a fun show – dressing gowns all the way, yay!

So do join me if you can at 9pm.

How timely! Just as I’m about to write this week’s blog (currently 5.10am after my 2am TSV finish) I find a funny clip from tonight’s show with Trinny and Susannah!

You can always count on them for a blooper – or two! Apart from Trinny’s microphone falling off the back of her drawers, Susannah’s seem to be causing a different problem… : – )

Still to come – sneaky peeks – the new Red Carpet Manicure colours, Gatineau set, and a little bit of Donny!…

Read it Write It Sell it – my weekly look at all things book!

'Defiant Love' by Jessica Hart

Book of the Week – First this week, I’ve been really enjoying my first ever Nora Roberts – see below in ‘Footnotes’ for more.

But I thought I’d just mention that my original writing tutor in Tuscany, Jessica Hart, is releasing her early books on amazon – she is one of the most prolific Mills and Boon authors, (over 60 novels).

This book, 'Defiant Love', features FIVE of her early romances, all in a £1.60 eBook! She’s a great author and if you like conventional, traditional, sweet romances, it could be a good choice for you! Go here to see more.

Useful Blog – about blogging!

Anne Allen's blog– An interesting feature on social media secrets and how they help an author is to be found here– do go read about one person’s path to success, aided by her dedication to blogging – there’s hope for me yet! Lol!

The Countdown is On! …

Only two weeks till the non-steamy (PG) version of my novel is available in eBook on Amazon (paperback in Oct). And the big news is… It’s going to be 99p!

More and more guests have it, including Leighton Denny and Stacey Shiefflin. I tweeted that I hope it doesn’t corrupt Leighton lol! Plus, the five star reviews keep mounting up – thank you so much from the bottom of my heart if you’ve posted one on Amazon; it means the world to a beginner like me.

Debbie's novel 'Hawaiin Affair'The latest review on Amazon is from HappyJill, who said –

“This book is very entertaining. Jolly saucy in parts 2 and 4! I loved how Sadie exhibited her feelings and intellect in equal measure, vulnerable yet hopeful.

Mac … is the epitome of the ideal romantic hero! NO guy is THAT good! … There were many lovely touches of the author throughout the book.

And setting the scenes in glamorous locations was wonderful… an escape from the humdrum British weather!… I found the twist and turns of the story led to a satisfying conclusion. Can't wait for the next one!…”

For all the direct links to each of the options of Hawaiian Affair available on Amazon, go to or click here for the steamy complete novel.

SO do put ‘Amazon/PG Hawaiian Affair’ in your bank holiday weekend diary if you’d like to be the first to get it… and for 99p! Whoop!

In case you’re reading this for the first time and you didn’t know, the thing is that I initially published it in instalments, so that at present you have to buy the separate parts on amazon to get the ‘close the bedroom door’ (PG) version.

It’s actually been created in response to requests, so I would love it if you would let me know what you think of the non-steamy eBook! Do pass on the news too, if you know anyone who’s been waiting for it!

Debbie and Simon at The CriterionI was going to feature a rather nice pic of a half-naked man (it’s ok, it was the top half!) in Snippets this week, one I saw in a magazine. But decided instead to add a pic of a new pal from LinkedIn, Simon who works on 'It’ll be Alright on the Night'.

He and I had a lovely supper in The Criterion restaurant – opposite Eros in Piccadilly Circus – and very nice it was too. It’s a fabulous 1930’s style interior – very vintage! The restaurant I mean, not him! Lol.

Mark presenting with MicealAnother nice get together this week with Mark White from Chelsea FC Hotels. He was in QVC cos he was having a go at being a guest presenter of Yankee Candles.

We met up after he finished and had a good old catch up! He's an avid viewer and did very well! Nice guy too, so we had a great chat.

De Jager Prince George tulip - 504271 George from de Jager

Did you read about de Jager getting a mention in the news ‘cos of their brand new tulip?

Named after the new royal baby, the Prince George Tulip set will hit our screens again soon no doubt.

I wonder though, if our lovely guest, the owner of de Jager, will be secretly chuffed. His name? George of course! The other 'gorgeous George!' Lol.

Tube Bassbud avert

Saw this on way to Elemis facial – and we know just what the answer is, don’t we, Hi-Tech regulars! #QVCFirstAgain! Have a look…

Donny Osmond CD- Donny Osmond still has it, doesn’t he ladies? Were you a Donny girl?

I know I’ve covered this topic before on my blog, but it WAS a long time ago and he HAS got a rather catchy new summer single. ‘Breeze on By’ is out from his album ‘What I Meant to Say’.

Lovely! Clip was being shared like wildfire on Facebook this week. Click here to see the video.

-  For true friends everyhwere – I liked this one and posted it on Facebook – do feel free to share!

My BFF’s include Craigy, of course, Jilly, LJ Rich, Gill Sandford, and more! Who’s your best friend and why does she/he deserve the title?

10 fun facts- Facebook funny – ‘10 fun facts’ – I got well and truly suckered in by this one! See if you do too – and let me know by leaving a comment below! Also, do post or tweet me if you have anything similar I can use on my blog!

LISTEN – This week, something a bit different! As mentioned above, a brill book recommendation this week – but it’s an audio-book, hence we’re doing a ‘listen' and not a ‘watch’!

'The Witness' by Nora RobertsNora Roberts’ 'The Witness' is well read by Julia Whelan and I’ve been listening to it all on Audible. This is like a book club but you choose audio files to download instead.

I’ve been busy lately – and have now got 'Cloud Atlas' and 'Pillars of the Earth' awaiting me too!

Well, I spend so much time in the car, audio books are a firm favourite with me! So anyway, 'The Witness' is a romance, with a strong thriller storyline running through it – it would be a real ‘page turner’ – if it had pages to turn! So I’m going to give it a high 8 and three quarters out of ten! Go here to fin out more.

P.S. And in case you’re looking at which films to see, here’s a trailer of a new movie which I hope to watch at some stage – Johnny Depp’s latest outing as Tonto in the legendary “Lone Ranger”, updated for the big screen! And let me know below what you thought, if you’ve seen it. Cheers m’dears!

QVC – Sneaky peek

Gatineau set– Gatineau – don’t miss this set on 18th!

RCM nail coloursRed Carpet Manicure alert! So I asked my sister Linda, the guest, what we can expect on 23rd Aug, and she said this –

“Nail Art! A tips and tricks collection featuring a glamorous glimmer rhinestone design and a shimmer and shine fade technique! Really easy to do.

There's also a new french manicure with great base coats and appliqué floral designs. Great new TSV with fab colours ………… 2 treatments! And at long last more essential combos!! Xx”

Can't wait – don't miss it!

QVC – This week
Very exciting '50 Hours of Fashion' continuing Saturday if you’re reading this early and you’re a weekend watcher.

I will have a One Time Only in the Dreamkeeper Collection at 10pm Saturday night (10th) – join me! Then Monday afternoon, Claire will have the clearance and 3EZ Pay three hour extravaganza of Gem Fest from 1pm.

Also, later in the evening, as well as the Elemis Spa Secrets show at 9pm, straight after at 10pm I will have – if there’s any left in stock! – the re-TSV of the handy Halo Pocket Charger.

Halo pocket charger - 503670 Claire Sutton

And do put this in the diary – Friday 16th at 6pm, our Pampered Pets show. Will be fun ‘cos I may bring one of my mischievous labradors in! But which one?

Let me know your thoughts below – if I’m allowed, I will! Plus the gorgeous, talented Antthony Designs are back next weekend! Yay!

Next week – bride’s dress fitting session in Kingston with daughter-in-law-to-be; plus what happened at the pop up tea rooms this Sunday!

Have a fab week and do let me know what you think about any of the above topics!

Wow how do you have time to write and blog Debbie?
Had a fab time at the tearooms on Sunday, will say no more as I’m sure this will be on your next blog.
Looking forward to RCM I hope it will be on easy pay as I want to give it a try, need to practice the left hand though so I don’t make a blooming mess lol.
I agree good friends are invaluable, they take you as you are, laugh and cry with you and do mad things with you and I’ve done plenty of those too.
You know me anything to do with books reading or writing so will give Jessica Hart a go, I think you need to read many genres to be a good writer and If I end up half as good as you then that will be a big bonus.
Right off to get a cuppa before Elemis.

    Joy –
hope you enjoyed Elemis too! Great show – I love Keeley to bits. Yes was lovely to see you all – will have a pic up on next blog!
Yes do give Jessica Hart a go – but remember the book I mentioned is her vintage era – do look out some of the more recent ones. They are very gentle romances, part of mills and boon’s Riva range. She also writes under ‘Pam Hartshorne’ – if you get the chance to read Time’s Echo (I featured it as one of my ‘author interview’ blogs) let me know what you think.
    big hugs
ps do call in on RCM launch, midnight on 22nd!
