If you read my blog regularly, you will know that I had to have a tooth out back in September. It wasn’t a nice experience but the dentist who did it was brilliant and it’s all healed over nicely now. Just before Christmas, we noticed that Wilfie, our cat, had a sort of blood blister on one of his front teeth. We took him to the vet and despite all his other teeth being in very good condition, she said it needed to be extracted as it could break off and would then become a serious problem. We had the date booked in but it was cancelled due to lack of anaesthetic gas! In the meantime she suggested cleaning Wilfie’s teeth each morning to see if that might calm things down.
I’m not going to lie, I was not looking forward to cleaning his teeth, as although he is a very loving cat in lots of ways, he does like to bite occasionally. The first couple of mornings were a bit of a struggle but on day three, we changed tack slightly and had him believe it was a treat. Now he looks forward to having his teeth brushed before breakfast with the little silicone finger brush and his meat-flavoured toothpaste. The bad news is that it hasn’t reduced the swelling, so he will have to have the tooth out anyway. He really is a copycat!
It was my daughter Sophie’s thirty-first birthday on Tuesday and we all went out for dinner to celebrate before coming back to our house for some card and present opening and the traditional chocolate birthday cake. At the restaurant I had halloumi ‘chips’ as my starter. I absolutely love halloumi and if you do too, these are done in a very light batter. Apparently one of the supermarkets does them but I don’t want to find out which, as I would want them all the time – not good for my healthy-eating goal!
I think I mentioned last week that I was going to get Sophie a Fitbit watch and it just so happens that that is our TSV today, so I have now ordered two, one for her and one for me. I want to try and keep better track of my activity levels, particularly as I am going to be doing a lot of sitting down and writing this year. I’ve gone for the silver one with the white strap and Sophie wanted the rose gold one – we also got her an interchangeable leather strap for when she needs her watch to look smarter… in fact she had the strap before the watch!
Speaking of writing a lot, I managed to get my structural edits done to meet my deadline by the skin of my teeth! I did three three-hour sessions on Saturday and then spent four hours checking everything on Sunday evening when I got back from work before hitting the send button on Monday morning… phew!!! Now I have to wait for the feedback from my editor, so keep your fingers crossed for me.
I seem to have been in a lot at work over the past couple of weeks because of the Christmas roster. Including today, I will have worked eleven of the past fourteen days and I must confess I am feeling tired, so having the next nineteen days off has come at just the right time. We are hoping to get a last minute holiday booked (I’ll keep you posted) and also I have to get on with writing book two in the series – deadline for the first draft is the end of April.
Unfortunately, it means I will miss this Sunday’s TSV from L’Occitane, which is a real shame as I am a massive fan of their Immortelle Divine Cream, included in the offer in a full size. There is also the Immortelle Divine Cleansing Foam which I’ve never tried, the Eye Cream which I have tried and like, and the Overnight Reset Serum. I can feel another QVC purchase coming on and if you feel the same way, you can get in early as it’s already available on our website.
Well, I’ll finish there, as it’s 11am already and I’m still in my dressing gown and I’m on air at 2pm!
Have a fab couple of weeks and I’ll see you on here refreshed, relaxed and (hopefully) tanned…. where’s my Ultrasun?
