Having recently moved to my new apartment, over the last few months I have slowly been attempting to furnish it. I have never been the type to want to have everything done and dusted on day one of moving in, and that’s for two reasons:
1. It costs a lot to furnish a flat, and breaking up my purchases over time makes it easier
2. I prefer to take my time and discover pieces that I can really see me living with for a long time and that will mix well with other pieces within my home
I would say my personal decor style is classic with a touch of contemporary edginess. That’s why, when I saw the new Bundleberry range from Amanda Holden, I just knew I would have to have it in my new home.
Once I’d moved in, one of the first things I bought was a really large charcoal grey sofa with a chaise, in a modern silhouette. It looks cool and quite classic, but it needed a table that could sit at the end of it for a lamp or a cup of tea. No sooner had I been thinking this, when I spied the BundleBerry parquet top side table.
It was the perfect fit; its dark grey, metal frame and clean lines echoing the contemporary colour and shape of the sofa. A match made in… QVC.
While my sofa is quite large with a bit of a luxe feel from big, feather-filled cushions clad in luxurious, high quality velvet, the side table provides a light industrial aesthetic thanks to the metal and parquet wood.
Beside each other, their contrasts only serve to highlight each other’s positive points. If you have a more pared back, minimalist look this table would work equally as well, especially if teamed with the parquet top coffee table that comes as part of the range as well.
To finish off the look of the side table, I added the Hurricane Lantern on top. With its stylish wire frame, it picks up on the metal frame of the parquet side table, but lightens the overall look with its gold-tone, metal finish.
Also, as I wanted the side table for lighting but did not have a power point near to hand, it works brilliantly as it has a battery-powered flameless candle inside the glass hurricane cover. This creates soft, ambient lighting that casts beautiful, soft shadows from the honeycomb style frame. Super cool and stylish.
Placed on the side table was perfect for me, but I also tried it as a centrepiece on my dining table and – again – it looked great. The flameless candle was so helpful, providing light without unsightly cords, plus it picked up on the metal frame of my Eames Eiffel-style dining chairs and even the geometric design across the Home Reflections rug under my dining table.
I also tried it out on a console table in my hallway and I think it would be perfect on a shelving unit too, so it really is such a versatile piece. (You see, this is why I don’t like to buy all my furniture in one go, because when you take your time you can really find pieces that work perfectly together!)
Speaking of which, I tried a few of the vases out on one of my shelving units and the contemporary styling and colours really provide a fresh, modern feel that keeps my living room looking up to date. I only had two, but I think three would have looked even better because I could also have put the three of them along my dining table as well.
There it is again, that ability for these versatile pieces to freshen up any room that feels like it may have become a little tired.
If you want to continue the contemporary theme of the vases within your decor, you can pick up the conversation with the the range’s photo frames (in the picture above with my side table).
I am a huge fan of photos and am always asking for framed photos as Christmas presents. They are the quickest and easiest way to personalise your space and really make it feel homely.
However, homely does not have to mean old fashioned or dated, certainly not with these cool, contemporary frames. The monochromatic shades are so modern and stylish that, even with just the addition of these to a room, you can bring a new and fresh attitude to your decor. Even better than that, they come as a set of two!
The corner of my living room was a key area for decorating and also a tricky one. It comes to quite a steep angle and is right next to floor-to-ceiling windows, so I couldn’t quite figure out what would work there. That is until I spied the String Chair. I chose to try it in black, as most of my furniture is that dark charcoal and/or black, that and the fact that my floors are a light blond wood so the black string chair would provide a great stylish contrast.
The corner of my living room is a south facing sun trap, so the idea of having a cool stylish chair where I could sit and while away an hour or two reading a book or just staring out of my window at the beautiful sky – was very appealing. If you think staring at the sky sounds weird, here is a snap I took of my view of the sky the other day…
I just drifted away for a good half an hour or more. Now if I can do that whilst sitting in a really cool chair, so much the better.
I tried some of the cushions from the range on the chair, as I do honestly think I would only really sit in the chair with cushions on it. I tried the black and white monochromatic ones, that I felt gave the chair a very contemporary yet slightly retro look. They worked really well. I also tried the yellow and white cushions too for a fresh, contrasting look and they worked equally as well.
In the end I decided to put the yellow and white cushions on some grey wool and black lacquered bucket chairs I had to just lighten them up a touch and ta-da, they worked like a dream.
The one thing I will say about Amanda’s BundleBerry range, is that it is very easy. It’s also very cool and extremely stylish!
Okay, so that’s three things, but then what do expect from someone that’s as versatile as Amanda Holden who can simultaneously be a sweetheart of the nation, a judge on one of the biggest talent shows in the country, an actress, a dancer, a mum and a style inspiration on the red carpet.
There are those who often say in life that you can’t have it all; well, I think Amanda proves that is not the case, neither in life, nor in interior decor!
I will be launching the range tonight (Monday 5th June) at 9pm show Amanda, with lots more to show you. Do tune in and send me any questions or comments you may have for myself or Amanda.
Until next time,
