Cool Cairns and July’s birthstone

4

Hello!

I’m not sure I can recall temperatures quite like this! It’s been incredibly hot of late and London has felt like an oven! It’s times like these I really miss being on the coast.

I’ve especially felt for my Cairns who really struggle with this kind of heat so I’m keeping a very close eye. They’ve been very thankful for our tiled kitchen floor which is cool to the touch, and we’ve been out walking very early in the morning before those temperatures start to climb.

Well you’ve possibly noticed that quite a big football tournament is underway at the moment 😉 I’ve never been the biggest football fan but I’m really getting drawn into the World Cup! I even understand the off side rule!!

That aside, I’m especially loving this year’s Wimbledon, lots of fabulous aces, volleys, and strawberries and cream… of course 🙂 Really sad though to hear Andy Murray had to withdraw from the tournament. Who do you think will win the singles tournament this year?

So July is with us which means it’s time to celebrate the birthstone of the month, which is beautiful Ruby. Like Sapphire, Ruby is part of the corundum family. The colour is created by the presence of chromium, and the name comes from the Latin word ‘Rubens’ which translates to red. It’s a stone which is steeped in history and is traditional to give for a 40th anniversary but also considered a perfect choice for a wedding too.

There are so many exquisite designs to choose from at QVC, all of which you’ll find on line, and here are a few which we think are really special…

Let’s start with the 2ct of Ruby and 0.2ct of diamond ring in 9ct gold. A really gorgeous design which is classically styled and the richness of colour simply draws you in.

A personal favourite of mine is the 1.5ct Ruby slider friendship bracelet. Crafted in sterling silver and gold vermeil. Friendship bracelets continue to be very popular but you don’t often find them in stunning Ruby, and the result is outstanding. I think it’ll make a perfect gift too.

Finally, these eye catching 0.6ct Ruby halo stud earrings in sterling silver. Another design which will make a fabulous gift, and I think the back drop of the white metal sets off the colour perfectly.

I hope you find a design which you’ll love, and of course, you always have the peace of mind of our thirty day money back guarantee.

Take care and see you soon.

I’m off to watch a spot of tennis!!

    Hi Charlie,
What a beautiful photo of your two cairns, they’re absolutely adorable ? I’m not surprised they’re struggling with the heat though originating from Scotland myself we don’t cope well in the sun lol ? thankfully it’s not just as hot up here. I’m Loving watching Wimbledon as well and would love Roger Federer to win the mens singles again.

Hi Charlie, Just love your beautiful dogs. Tip get their coats cut. The other thing is try and get them to stand in shallow like a small paddling pool. It is one way of helping them to cool down. I doubt if you were around in 1876. That was the last really bad heatwave. I was living in Plymouth then and we ended up with bowsers on the streets and no running water in the houses. Fingers crossed it doesn’t get that bad this time.

Hi Mary, thanks for your message. Thankfully things are a lot cooler as I write this. My Cairns are relieved. We do have a paddling pool which they love!

    Best wishes

    Charlie
