Competitions, Harry Potter and Basal Jewellery!

Harry Potter great hallHiya, hope all is well.

It's been a non stop few days at work and home!

In my last blog I mentioned the lily growing competition among presenters. Well, things got off to a fairly good start with me following the instructions to the letter… However, three times the puppies have dug through the plant pot and unsettled everything! I've managed to salvage the bulbs and I think we'll be ok. It's in their nature to dig and they look as though 'butter wouldn't melt' when I catch them! The pot is relocated so they shouldn't be able to get to it now – hopefully! I've a feeling there may be some sabotage among the presenters and they're secretly training my dogs to dig frantically and hold me back!

On another note, far removed from digging and planting! If you love Harry Potter then I highly recommend a day out to experience the Warner Brothers Harry Potter Studio Tour, London.

What an experience it is! We had an amazing day. The studio you visit is where it began all those years ago for Daniel Radcliffe, the cast and crew. There is so much interaction. You'll be invited to walk through the great hall, see original props, stand at Dumbledore's office, learn about animatronics and pose for a photo outside number 4 Privet Drive! You can even grab yourself a drink of Butter-Beer! I was told by friends who visited before us how good it was so my expectations were fairly high. Well, they were met and exceeded!

We took many, many photos and video clips. You may recognise this (see video clip) from The Deathly Hallows, part two, when Harry meets Dumbledore on platform nine and three quarters.

It was a truly memorable day and we promptly put the films on again when we arrived home.

I've always been a huge fan of the series and remember reading the first book when recovering from an operation…. from that first read, I was hooked!

It's been busy, busy, busy at QVC with Destination Gems returning this Tuesday 11th June at 8pm. This week we focus on highlights of the Basal Watch and Jewellery fair. Our very own Alison Keenan jet setted to Switzerland with our jewellery team – she had an incredible time perusing beautiful jewellery and joining in the meetings with our buyers and vendors. I also hear the food was rather delicious too!

    Hi Charlie,
I think you need to keep your lilies under lock and key. Yes I expect the other presenters have been secretly training them to tip up the pots. You must be careful though as they are poisonous to dogs, the lilies I mean.
The Harry Potter Tour sounded great. I loved watching the films, something you can watch over and over again without getting bored.
Lucky Alison going to Switzerland, maybe you will be able to go next time.
Our two Labrador puppies have been out this morning for some sitting and healing training with the older dogs. And my young Golden Retriever is coming on well with her training.
Tomorrow evening a friend of ours who is a Judge for Gundogs and a trainer is coming over and we are going to get some of the litter brothers and sisters to our’s together for some training. That is going to be fun. They are coming up seven months old now. A home is not a home without a dog and cat.
Anyway good luck with the Lilies.
    Regards Jean.

Hello Jean and lovely to hear from you, the lilies are now out of reach I’m pleased to say!
Harry Potter is amazing, if you get the chance to go to the studio – do. It’s worth every penny and is an incredible day out seeing how it all comes together.
It sounds like you’ve some fun on the way…. Enjoy the training… In my experience, patience is needed!
    Kind regards

    Morning Charlie,
I made my cuppa, and, as promised I caught up on your blogs.
The Harry Potter exhibition at the Warner Bros. studios is amazing. I went for the first time in September for my birthday, and then again on my own in December for my Christmas ‘do’ for-one (I’m a nanny, so work Xmas parties are quiet, heheh). The Great Hall was decked out in HP Christmas style – magical. The Butter Beer didn’t meet with my expectations, though 🙁
I’m glad you have put the Lillie’s out of reach of the puppies. Not only for the sake of the Lillie’s, but Lillie’s are poisonous to dogs as many plants are. If the puppies are KC registered, you should find something in your pack about which plants are harmful to our beloved fur children.
I promise to keep up with the blogs from now-on.
