How funny those words just fell out and that’s essentially what it’s all about… the right here right now… my mindfulness programme continues! That said let me give you a potted history of the weeks that were…looking back is fine and fabulous, so long as it’s as positive as looking forward. Hands up who isn’t already looking for signs of spring and envisaging relaxing summer holidays?
We plan to sandwich city breaks around lounging around a pool this year, although you’d think we had enrolled the children into a military style prison camp.”You didn’t ask us; we haven’t had a family conversation; I might not want to go away; why can’t I stay at home?” all ricocheted around the room on hearing the apparently dreadful news that we are off to Barcelona, Spain and Seville for a trip this summer… How ruuuude!
I may however inadvertently (oops) have planned to be away around the time of the Reading Festival. Not that it would be a given that Joe could or would go, but now the option is removed, it seems Reading was at the top of his agenda following his GCSEs. I do feel mean, though in truth relieved, as I’m not certain I’d have handled it all calmly… seemingly all manner of drink drugs and other temptations would be so very available. Sorry Joe… #not sorry!!
Mind you it was fabulous to watch him and his band play a gig the other Sunday. Joe is on keyboards but also opened and closed the set singing lead vocals, he was so nervous, but we were super proud of them all. Joe only had eyes for his girlfriend… young love, it’s so sweet. Talking of love – Happy Valentine’s Day to you all. A day to proclaim our love, though hopefully it’s not just saved up for February 14th but liberally scattered and noisily stated all through the year. DAN I LOVE YOU, BE MINE ALWAYS, there – a loud and public declaration for him… shall I tell him, or will he be embarrassed?!
Actually he’s just back from an adventure, a few days away without any contact does wonders in the loving and appreciating one another department. The plan was to climb in Scotland but the weather was so dreadful that the climb was abandoned. The tough hike to the Bothy in extreme conditions was challenge enough. I hear you ask what the reason was… no reason, they are just crazy boys! I say it every time he goes away but every time I recognise the difficulties single parents face , you are amazing, coping with everything all of the time. For me, the issues come with long work days , early shifts and of course Tom’s needs all of which require more juggling than usual , throw in the food requirements and crikey… high alert status right there!
It’s an old (and now boring!) joke in our house that “Claire can’t cook, shouldn’t cook.” I say boring as I have clearly brought up 3 healthy children and made zillions of meals throughout our almost 20 year marriage, however, it’s not my love!! But… I can, I do and I did, pulling it out of the bag as ever with my culinary delights ( ha ha ).
One little gadget that would help immensely, if like me , you are all about healthy balanced food BUT would appreciate a gadget to help ease the burden, is the Cooks Essentials Digital Air Fat Fryer, Today’s Special Value, today, Thursday 14th. It’s quite the little genius as it’s perfect for roasting, baking and grilling, yet uses hot air so there’s no submersion in oil, reducing additional fat content, virtually no smell ( our current little fryer honks the house out , even though Dan assures me that the oil had been recently changed ). Oh and with its high speed circulation its fast! So… whilst Dan doesn’t have any more trips planned ( that I know of) I will be unstoppable with this beauty.
We both had a super trip up to Scotland a couple of weekends ago, celebrating Dan’s Godparents’ 50th Wedding Anniversary. The train took the strain, the scenery was gorgeous and The Cow Shed at Crail was a sensational place for the party. I wore my Ghost dress which was commented on by so many of the guests, but as often happens these days… I didn’t get a photo of myself in it! Typical.
However I did get this little collection of looks from QVC this past week. I find it so interesting that I look so different in each picture, of course the angle completely alters the face and the lighting too. The hair, even though it’s done with the same Dyson Airwrap, has its own mind each time and then the make-up… our lovely make-up artists, led by the amazing June at Make-up Junkies all use my same make-up collection but each interprets my face differently… fascinating stuff.
Just as an aside I’m currently using Gatineau Under Eye Magic Concealer, Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Foundation, Medium Neutral Bobbi Brown Cream Blush, Calypso Coral Tarte “ Toasted” Palette, Mally Black and Brown Liners, Julep Mascara and Bobbi Brown Lipstick in the brightest red shade!
In amongst the shots of moi with such, can you spot the most delicious face of all?! We did a lift selfie, a super happy, excited moment captured right there as Tom came into QVC with me. It was a snow day and too late to organise something for him after college announced its closure, so I had the joy of a day with Tom. We loved being together… just us, I know that he did too because he told me! He held my hand and I was full of joy and pride seeing him chatter and charm, confidently enjoying the day and spreading his little bit of magic around the place. I hope a little of his magic filters through to you and you have a wonderful few weeks.
Lots to look out for on QVC with our brilliant TSV’s, Beauty and Gardening Picks of the Month, and Big Deals galore – why shop anywhere else? Especially when we also have a super voucher offer currently running!!!
Happy Shopping and Happy Valentine’s Day, I’m spreading my love to you all!
