Here are the super pics from my Icelandic extravaganza. We had an amazing time, my pal Gill and I, with our three night visit – it’s only three hours or so away and whilst it was cold it was quite mild for the time of year. The thermal spa at the famous Blue Lagoon made it all worthwhile and I’d go back there in a heartbeat – there were lots of hen party groups etc, all swimming around in the 38 degree water and using the face packs of spa mud and swimming up to the poolside bar for a drink or going into the sauna and steam room or under the waterfall.
It’s huge there and I’ll definitely be going again. I live in hope that one day a nice man might want to take me there as a surprise… You never know what might happen in Devon, it’s a whole new era after all. It didn’t happen in Iceland though – look at this – I captioned it ‘story of my life – non-existent man!’ haha!
We also saw some amazing sights including a huge double waterfall!
Watch this perfect timing to tie in with my commentary!
Shopping wasn’t really on the cards as it’s soooo dear there – shockingly so – but we had some nice meals including a very festive American Christmas Buffet for Thanksgiving night. A good time was had by all. No northern lights this time ‘cos of horrible rain, but maybe next time…
Christmas Comes Early at Retreats for You, my new home away from home
So I had a lovely five days down in Sheepwash, helping to ‘do up’ the 400 year old thatched house where I originally visited as a budding author and now return to help run it! And one of this week’s jobs was to put up my first Xmas tree there! It’s a real one and it’s fab – in the large hallway and giving it a superb warm glow. Go here to find out about part of my move.
Go here to my new website newsletter blog to read more about how the dogs are settling in. Plus to see videos from the beautiful Devon countryside with more of my ‘vlogs’ which I’ve been doing from my Facebook page (click ‘like’ on this page to access new ones if you’re on Facebook.) There’s a Sheepwash Facebook page too, and I’m going to be holding a special ‘meet and greet’ in two weeks for some of the super ladies there – some of whom I met this week when I went along to a little village hall meeting about a local planning thing. Very nice to put new names to faces!
Book of the Week I had to feature one of my favourite book series – one of my top five ever, actually, from Ben Aaronovitch – it’s the latest in the DCI Peter Grant supernatural London cop series – more here.
Medical Detection Dogs Winter Scene how fab is this pic? Featuring four of the amazing canines training to help people using their sense of smell. More about MDD here including get your Christmas cards – last chance! And the fab book all about how it all began, called ‘Daisy’s Gift.’
Winter is when? Did you know this? I didn’t! Well I never. Now if I ever get this question in a pub quiz I’ll know it!
Femail Feature QVC loved this feature about your fave shopping channel this week in the Daily Mail, thanks to journalist Tessa! And hi to her mum Aileen, who brought her up on a diet of QVC too!
Uncle, Auntie and Son visit me in Devon of course amidst all the ‘doing up’ of the new place, I also had visitors including my lovely uncle Jeff who is an electrician and did some work for me, and auntie Christine, as well as my boy Brad, who kindly drove a van full of ‘stuff’ down to Sheepwash for me. And the question ‘how much stuff can one girl have’ was never far from anyone’s lips!
Xmas Sox Advent – week 3 of 6! Had another exciting week of xmas sox – not! Couldn’t remember where I’d packed them all! Finally dug these out. It’s been funny being a nomad as until I did some washing down in Devon, I’d even run out of drawers! Eeek! Ever found yourself wearing old weird ones in desperation? Anyway I eventually managed to do a machine load then promptly embarrassed myself when Mark the Carpenter/plasterer/handyman and fab neighbour came walking through the dining room where I’d spread them all out… doh! Tumble dryer next time methinks!
Blooper – this one made me smile so much I thought I’d feature it again – funny Charlie Brook!
Facebook Funny Jib Jab is all over the place again isn’t it – I’m running a survey of which other four presenters I should include in a xmassy jib jab cartoon face funny dance video – who do you think? Leave me a comment below and I’ll try to do it soon!
Watch ‘Rillington Place’ on BBC iPlayer. Oooooh! Scary stuff! Based on real events back in the 1940s and 50s – he was one of the most notorious serial killers and this drama is superbly acted and shot. Samantha Morton is simply superb – but then she always is. Part one is on catch up now, and part two is next Tuesday. Even when you know what happens, based on historical events, it’s still worth a watch, if you like dark drama. Given the penchant for crime novels currently on the rise, it won’t surprise anyone how successful this new series has been so far.

Here’s another fab post from my Till the Fat Lady Slims book’s support group on Facebook
Tracie W says – “Hi Debbie – my aim for the year was do more regular exercise especially Bodyblade, Leslie Sansone at home walking and outdoor walks to get the daily steps and keep my Fitbit happy lol. i was happy with how my body had shaped up after having already lost 3st 4 and didn’t feel i needed to lose more . i eat what draws me to it these days and rather than needing to be regimented to eat meals as served up at specific times . i listen to my body when it feels like it needs some thing to eat rather than eating for the sake of it . 🙂 with the support and the motivational daily challenges we have on Bodyblade Ohana it has really helped me achieve my aims, I do not feel the need to weigh but am more than happy that i can see and feel the non scale victory of clothes fitting and looking better on so must be doing ok .”
She really sums up the benefits of combining Freedom Eating and Bodyblade, right? I say to anyone who wants to give it a try, to read ‘Till the Fat Lady Slims 2.0 – the ‘When’ Diet’ book first, which is like the one which sold out in signed hardback on QVC last year. Plus book 3.0 with more tips and tales to inspire. The whole picture and links are here on my webpage.
