…..so don’t make a noise like a goose!
Well, it’s October already and only 12 shopping weekends until the big yo ho ho! Doesn’t time fly!
I really look forward to getting out the Christmas sweaters and planning ridiculously big meals and of course overindulging in great food and drink. QVC will be be bringing you all those things and more over the next few months and we launch our Christmas countdown on Friday the 5th October.
We have a fabulous line up for the first Christmas weekend with a great string of Home Reflections battery or mains operated lights on Friday, a super smashing pre-lit Christmas tree offer on Saturday and a much anticipated Molton Brown special offer for Sunday (remember light strings are not just for Christmas, they are for life!)
I love a set of battery or mains lights especially when they are indoor/outdoor and have a range of different displays. That’s exactly what we have and the price is amazing. We have 5m battery light strings or 8m mains light strings in either copper or silver colours.
The copper colour has warm white lights and the silver has the clear white lights. I got myself a set of the copper-coloured ones to try out as I thought they would look rather good against the wood of my front porch… and not just at Christmas!
The great thing about these indoor outdoor battery operated lights is that because they are LED they last for ages and are really bright and crisp and as all the lights have a 6hr on 18hr off timer as standard, you don’t have to worry about switching them on and off.
Each light string has eight different lighting displays so you are spoilt for choice. The copper colour means that the cable hardly showed against the colour of the wood so in the daytime they looked great but at night time they added a real twinkle to the front entrance, which will be great any time there’s a party on but especially at Christmas.
The problem I had was that my daughter fancied them for the den that we built in the summer and she has eyes on them being her own personal Christmas lighting display in her den.
Now, the Christmas trees haven’t arrived at the big Q yet however I did catch sight of one of the little trees (We have 4’,5’, 6’ and 7’ trees on offer in either the traditional realistic green or the icy snow covered arctic white and they are pre-lit with a wonderful array of LED lights anything from 400 to 1500) and it is very realistic with some rather lovely features.
The lighting display is second to none as quite often you have to choose between clear or multi depending on whether or not you want the traditional white lights or the brightly coloured variety of coloured lights.
With this one you don’t need to choose because at the press of a remote control button you can have whatever you like! If that weren’t enough you can adjust the brightness of the lights so that you can create exactly the right atmosphere or romantic Christmas tree lighting if Frank Sinatra is crooning in the background.
What’s also rather nice is that there is a foot switch included because, if you’re anything like me you absolutely have to switch your lights off at the plug before you retire for the night. With the foot switch that means you don’t even have to bend down and try and crawl underneath the tree to reach the switch you just touch it with your foot and all the power is cut.
Another amazing thing is the remote control with which you control not just the colour of the lights but also the way that they flash/or morph from one colour to the other. There are 15 different lighting displays that you can choose from and the biggest problem is choosing your favourite, because they are all gorgeous! The tree even has a timer which makes life even easier.
I’m afraid the tree I saw wasn’t decorated with baubles, crackers and presents underneath but even as a naked tree you can see that it’s not only a fabulous display but very realistic. I was somewhat reluctant to buy a faux tree the very first time but I must admit since that time I have been totally converted and I wouldn’t have anything else.
No pine needles on the floor the floor, no watering, no bad sides, and no roof rack car journeys make Laurel and Hardy embarrassed. The tree comes with everything you need: remote control (with batteries), stand, foot switch, and whatever lights you like.
I’m sure this is one of the most fabulous trees we’ve ever done and it will be a delight to kick things off on Saturday good and proper ….with a proper Christmas tree!
