I’m writing this on the 27th December, in that strange limbo-land between Christmas and New Year. Hope everyone survived/had fabulous fun/got through the last few days unscathed, depending on your view of the festive period.
I had a lovely time, starting on the 22nd with an afternoon making our own gin at a microdistillery in Bristol – a Christmas gift from last year that was about to expire! It was great fun – my gin was flavoured with Earl Grey, grapefruit and lemongrass, which resulted in a deliciously light, fresh taste. It went down very well as an aperitif on Christmas Eve!
Our Christmas included some blissful time spent at home, dinner with friends, drinks with our lovely neighbours and watching more films in two days than I’ve seen all year, including Darkest Hour, Peter Rabbit, The Greatest Showman and Paddington 2. Loved all of them! I now only have one more day off before I’m back to work at the weekend though and it’s going to be very, very busy because it’s SALE time!
I’ve spotted a few bargains from our home department already – if you need new bedding this three-piece duvet set from Cozee Home comes in lots of colours and prices start at just £16. Or if your towels are looking tatty, this six-piece towel collection from Northern Nights is also great value.
Now, if you’re a regular QVC viewer you may have heard me go on (and on and on) about how much I enjoy ironing (I know, it’s weird…). So when our buyers wanted a presenter to try out our New Year’s Day Today’s Special Value offer, they came straight to me, and I was very happy to oblige.
It’s a handheld garment steamer from Morphy Richards and it’s absolutely brilliant! It heats up in just 35 seconds, kills around 99.99% of bacteria so is great for freshening up clothes and eliminating odours, and has both an Eco setting to save water and a Turbo setting for those stubborn creases.
For me, this is going to be perfect for those moments when you take something out of the wardrobe to wear and it’s managed to get itself creased while in there… no need to go and set up the iron and ironing board, just grab your steamer and within seconds it’s ready to go.
Here’s a little video of me steaming my lovely new Marla Wynne chiffon blouse. I think this is a great buy – and it’s fun to use, even if you hate ironing!

So with that, I’m signing off again until next year! Let me take this chance to wish you all a very happy New Year. I hope that 2019 brings you all you’ve dreamed of.
