As the big day draws closer, we’re sure many of you are thinking about how you’re going to decorate your home for the season, in fact… some of you may have already started! Well, whether you’re ahead of the game or waiting until the last minute to put up the tree, we’re excited to bring you some useful decorating advice from the interior design expert herself – Alison Cork.
Known for providing us with super stylish home accessories, luxuriously soft bedding and fabulous furniture, Alison’s collection is filled with so much character, elegance and glitz that quite frankly… we want it all! But if you need some guidance on what to choose for this year’s festivities, here are Alison’s top tips for dressing your home for Christmas and all eventualities.
“Dressing the home for Christmas is not just about the sitting room. Remember that you may have guests staying and quite apart from that, it’s lovely to have some decoration throughout the house during the festive season.”
1. Update the guest room
Make sure the guest bedroom is looking smart – invest in some new bedlinen and a matte satin bedspread. This is a great way to instantly refresh the room for visitors without picking up a paint brush or making a complete transformation. With its Art Deco-inspired quilted pattern and matte satin finish, our Quilted Bedspread is ideal for adding that glamorous finishing touch.
2. Opt for versatile furniture
Use multi-functioning furniture to help your home work hard during the festive season. Our luxurious Velvet Ottoman doubles as storage, extra seating, a coffee table, foot rest, end of bed ottoman and shoe storage – and it looks great.
3. Welcome in light
Use decorative lighting to bring a sense of space and sparkle to even the darkest corners – our Glitter Trees have movable, wired positional branches that will allow the tree to fit snugly into smaller areas.
Our Mercury Glass Strands are an elegant and unusual alternative to a traditional light. You can use them creatively around the house – winding them round banisters, garlands, wreaths, along kitchen unit tops and headboards, in bowls or along the centre of your table arrangement.
Remember that lanterns like our Stainless Steel Lantern with LED Candle can be placed indoors as well. They work great as a warm welcome in the entrance hall, on landings or by the fireplace.
4. Dazzle with baubles
Whether you go for all out sparkle or subtle metallics, everyone loves glamorous Christmas tree baubles. Here are some of my favourites from this years’ range:
Enjoy the season of light and laughter – it really is the very best time of year to be at home.
