I hope all’s well…
Just a quick blog in a week that started with The QVCUK’s 25th anniversary. As many of you will know I wasn’t there right at the start, entering the hallowed halls of Q Towers (Battersea) in 1997 for the first of my five auditions.
So on Monday I was able to join colleagues from Team Q, celebrating our 20th or 25th anniversaries working at The Q. Julia was the first of us on screen, I came along four years later and Claire joined us towards the end of 1998. The three of us had a wonderful time joined by our partners dining at a plush Soho Hotel with colleagues from different departments at Chiswick Park and Knowsley. It was really wonderful to relive and share so many happy and often hilarious memories!
As I write, it’s also my Dog Toby’s 10th or should I say 70th Birthday today – I was reminded of this by my daughter Ali, as Toby became part of The Franklin family on her and Jack’s 12th Birthday. I’ve included a few Toby pics including one given to me by Toby’s breeder Elaine, of a six week old Toby in front of a TV with Julia and I presenting Diamonique together! The photo was named “watching Dad”, but I think young Toby was more interested in his bed.
There’s a glittering Today’s Special Value (TSV) coming up on Friday the 5th in the form of an Indoor/Outdoor LED light strand from Home Reflections – you’ll have the choice of a 5m long battery operated strand with 250 LEDs or an 8.4m mains-powered strand with a whopping 420 LEDs! On both options there are eight modes to select from – In Waves, Slo-glo, Twinkle/Flash, Slow Fade, Sequential, Chasing/Flash, Combination and for those of us who prefer less movement, there’s always “Steady On”.
It literally took me a few minutes to put them around a window overlooking the garden, as the strands are made out of a very lightweight, soft, posable wire and it’s so easy to pretty much place them where you like. I was able to simply hook them around the Roman blind. Obviously you need to consider a power point for the mains option, but if you opt for the battery version your choices are almost limitless as to where to place them – all year round. Choose from Silver-tone or Copper-tone wire. The silver offering cool lighting, whilst the copper has warm lights. All the light settings are on a six hour on/18 hours off timer, which means once you have turned it on it will automatically come on every evening at that same time and you needn’t worry about switching them off later, as it’s already taken care of!
This stunning LED lights strand TSV is part of our three day “Christmas is Coming” extended weekend and there will be a host of festive shows to help you get organised in good time before the Christmas rush. On Sunday Andi Peters and I return for a two hour “Andi Peters’ Food Fest” special starting at 3pm. We’ll have many of your favourite Festive Food Faves including Gower Cottage Brownies, Hotel Chocolat, Lambertz and many more luxury brands.
Until next time… stay sparkling and prepared…
