161920 – it sounds like an item number on QVC! I must look it up and see what it is, if it is one! In reality it’s my big numbers that have happened in the last couple of weeks.
Joe was 16 years old, Dan and I celebrated our 19th wedding anniversary and I celebrated my 20 years of being a presenter at the best channel ever… QVC!
So let’s start with that, it is all about me after all!! That sounds dreadful BUT it’s something someone told me I must say to myself because I think as a parent, and a wife and a friend and a daughter and a sister, along the way you can get somewhat lower down on the list! It was 20 years ago and Dan and I had just arrived home from a lovely first holiday together to the news that I had been chosen as a QVC presenter… OMG how terribly exciting! Therein followed a huge amount of work, learning the ropes and preparation, because remember back in those days we really had to know everything there was to know about every single gemstone and everything that we presented as we had minimal guests. It was a full and busy time, and so very exciting, and do you know what… 20 years on it’s still full on busy and still so very exciting!
QVC has grown and changed immensely in that time and I’m lucky I have grown and changed with it and there is much ahead of us as we lead into our 26th year. I’m proud to be part of the QVC family.
Those of us celebrating 20 years, and of course 25 years, service (what an amusing term) were invited to a lovely evening at the Ham Yard hotel in London where we celebrated with much laughter, some wine, delicious food and chat. It really was a superb night with a great speech from our VP, quite what it was that made me laugh so and his tongue pop out in this picture, I’ve no idea. Captions please!
There was an overall feeling of a job well done, so thank you to QVC for choosing me some 20 years ago! And thank you to all of you for your endless support, both on air and through my blogs and social media.
Then comes the 16 bit! Joe, my second son, my gorgeous, not so little boy is now 16. I suspect the coming months will be “interesting” with growing independence being gained plus we are onboard the GCSE train, which is gathering speed and momentum, however I’m not actually sure Joe has embarked upon it …yet!! Hey ho… we shall just have to hold on to our hats and hope he realises it’s happening whether he likes it or not!
There are definitely rose-coloured spectacles going on around here for me at the moment as the juggle of three pretty much under three seems now to have been a breeze!
Luckily for me I have a super gorgeous twinkly husband to share in all this… 19 years married and he still is my dream come true. Soppy but oh so true! I did laugh at a comment made by Alison Young after I posted a picture of Dan and I in black and white: “NEVER turn Dan into black and white …”. He has the loveliest pale blue eyes, which Ali has always loved! Clearly the black and white loses those ‘baby blues’!
Whilst we didn’t do anything spectacular for our anniversary, we grabbed lunch together which was lovely enough for me… time together in this busy life is worth lots. So… as I write, I am freezing. Well, my fingers are, probably a result of minimal moving about, plus the cat flap is missing so a gale is blowing in through the gap… yet another job on the to do list. And there I was feeling pretty pleased with the random ones I had managed to strike off my list today, yet I just rewrote it and it’s flipping massive again… does ANYONE ever complete and think yessssss I’m done..? I’m guessing not, because as fast as you do one thing there’s a million others just shimmying up to be done.
At least my bright pink painted utility room is a joy, a happy and perky colour in a room that is usually left out when it comes to joyfulness wouldn’t you say? I mean it’s hardly a glam room for doing exciting and lovely things in is it now?!
However… lesson learnt, as the bathroom is a somewhat lurid shade of Parma blumming violet!! Not the softly greyed lavender it professed to be on the chart. One should always get a sample pot mixed up… so now I’m at the do I live with it…or not?… stage!
At least my toes are warm though and that is solely down to the scrumptious Vionic shoes I am sporting. My floor is stone and really takes its toll on the little tootsies leaving my legs really aching some days and as I rarely sit down then a good supportive slipper is required. These little beauties feel super well made, super supportive and I’m loving having a new pair. It’s making me feel somewhat swish! Don’t wait till Christmas my sweets, maybe ‘tis now we need the treats.
Talking of treats, I know this is a weird one, but… oh how much do I love my Exfoliating Mask from Gatineau… I did a little video of the peel-off but I cannot get it loaded so I will need to enlist the children’s help! So here is a still shot… delightful!
I was trying soooo hard to beat Michaela’s demo the other day which had us in hysterics as due to time restraints the mask didn’t come away in one. See, even the Professionals can’t get it perfectly EVERY time!I have never managed it myself, up until now.
The mask goes onto clean dry skin, and it needs to dry for approx 20 minutes. It’s occlusive which means it traps all the essential oils and ingredients and they can only escape one way… yup INTO the skin as opposed to into the atmosphere! Once it’s totally shiny and see through, the magic has happened. You then peel it off, TOP TIP, make the edges decent so you can get hold of it and then slowly enjoy the feeling as it removes all dead skin and debris leaving a most impressively silken face. I managed it, so Michaela… challenge upheld! And video proof WILL be seen at some point! The mask is part of a Big Deal offer, launching at midnight on Monday 22nd October.
I mentioned earlier there’s much ahead for us all on QVC and you will find us all hopping between the channels, The Style Channel will be effectively a live fashion event for four hours every day 3pm till 6pm so if you think you’ve lost us… Style will be where you’ll find us! Think of it as being in a live department store but instead of tediously wandering up and down escalators to search out what you like, you can view QVC Style and QVC on your TV, phone , iPad… now that’s what I call being immersed in fashion!
Right talking of which I need to get a wriggle on as I shall be bringing you Kim & Co in… well, as soon as I’m transformed by the make-up artists.
This may take some time.
Loads of love for a happy week ahead,
