Celebrating 21 years of the DIY show at QVC

Simon Biagi on the The Real DIY ShowThe oldest show in town!

DIY has come of age.

The DIY show on this Sunday 9th November from 9am to 11am will be 21 years old, and that makes us the oldest show at QVC.

Over the past 21 years we have brought an enormous variety of amazing products and this weekend we have lined up a two hour show with some of the current favourites.

It is quite a stir to think what was going on 21 years ago!

I’m not too good with dates but it was about that time that I was starting work as the first weatherman on GMTV and I was very nervous as I had never worked in a studio before.

I have had a bit of practice since, so hopefully I’m a bit better at it now! (I see the weather hasn’t changed much though!)

Simon Biagi as the GMTV weatherman

Simon Biagi on Real RoomsDIY has always been my favourite show at QVC and I love the whole DIY thing. In fact as soon as I have finished writing this, I am off outside to install a big cable to my shed so I can have power over the winter.

The great thing about DIY-ers is that we love to share our tips and tricks; ideas how to make the job quicker, easier, tidier or just more fun.

So I thought I would include this DIY tip as it just amused me, and clearly shows I have too much time on my hands. But if you have a lot of apples to peel it could save you a whole heap of time… just don’t try this at home!

DIY comes of age this Sunday at 9.00 am and I would very much like it if you could join us.

I wonder if we will have a cake?

I remember the regular shows on Sunday morning at 10am with Harry Green and then with Orlando Khota. When I started with with QVC in 2000, our gardening shows used to be on before the DIY slot. Seems a very long time ago!

I find it to be the wrong time of day to air your two hour DIY programme 0900-1100 Sunday 9 Nov Remembrance Day.
I was so looking forward to seeing the show but unable to do so as I will be at a remembrance church service followed by remembrance parade like a good many more of us males up and down the country viewing figures down.

I used to watch with fail every Sunday morning this great show and get some wonderful ideas and buy some great tools at great prices. The last couple of years it has become very disappointing not to see it on Sunday morning. Come on QVC put it back to what it used to be, we DIY ers need our fix.
