Cat antics

Last Sunday we went over to Daniel’s to visit as we hadn’t seen him since before we went on holiday. He had been to Ipswich with his Crystal Palace u11’s (they won, I’m pleased to say) so I made a lasagne to take over for dinner to save him cooking for us. I also made some little chocolate cakes for dessert and, armed with two bottles of red wine, it made a very special ‘meals on wheels’.

We had brought him some ‘England’ Havaiana flip flops back from holiday and the moment they were out of the bag Wilfie was in it! He really is quite a big cat but he maneuvered his way in and settled down for a cat nap. We had a lovely evening, even though I was designated driver and had the fifty minute drive home … it was definitely worth it.

Although Milo hadn’t witnessed Wilfie in the bag it was almost as though he didn’t want to be outdone in the cat cuteness wars as, on Monday, he climbed inside one of my desk drawers while I was trying to work. He has also been sleeping in a box on top of the cupboard in the office and leaping from beam to beam in the kitchen. I’m just wondering how many of his nine lives he has already used up?

Well I hope you are enjoying Jewellery Day? It got off to a flying start with the Links of London TSV, which had all but sold out before the live hours started this morning at 9am. I’m not on at my usual 5 o’ clock slot today as I have two hours of Butler & Wilson Couture from 10pm as the finale of the day. I’m really looking forward to seeing Simon and I’m sure he will probably be dropping a few hints about the TSV he has coming up next Thursday midnight into Friday… my lips are sealed!

There isn’t a lot of Diamonique on Jewellery Day but if that’s your favourite then join me for a three-hour Christmas Spectacular on Monday from 1pm – once again, everything will be on 3 Easy Pays.

Before that though we have a Beauty Day this Sunday when my hours are OPI, Doll 10 and Lalique perfume … a few Christmas present ideas there I would think, particularly as there are now only eight shopping weekends to Christmas.

Off air it has been quite an odd week, having to ask for a refund on a mattress we took delivery of three weeks ago that had a hole in it! Thanks to the good old ‘Sale of Goods Act 1979’ I got my refund but not until I quoted it three times in an email to the company concerned.

We have also started looking for a flat for Sophie to buy now that she has been able to save a bigger deposit after living with us for a few months. I’ve had my latest hospital appointment but I won’t have the results of the blood tests for a couple of weeks and I’ve started trying to get myself a literary agent for my book … it’s all go!

big hair

Finally, I found this old Polaroid photo of me with very big hair when I was going through some loose papers in my filofax. I’m going to do a proper competition with a prize soon but, just for fun, what year do you think this photo was taken? By the way, I made the dress and the shirt I am wearing in silk I brought back from Hong Kong the first time I visited – a clue for those of you who have read One Hundred Lengths of the Pool.

Have a great weekend.

Much love,
Julia xx

Hi Julia, so pleased you are going to be on with Simon tonight so love to watch you both, could you please ask Simon if there is any chance he might bring the large open winged owl necklace to QVC then I will have the necklace, ring and broach, I have admired the necklace ever since Darcey wore it on Strictly come Dancing. Also as every fingers crossed for your blood results, I know you will be fine.
    Best Wishes Linda

      Hi Linda
Hope you enjoyed the Butler and Wilson Couture show last Friday. Simon and I are back together tonight at midnight for the TSV launch- really pretty necklace at a great price.
Just checked our website and there is an owl brooch on there with open wings – is that the one you would like the necklace of?
It always feels like a long wait for my results – hopefully early next week.

    Hi Julia,
Yes Cat’s are funny aren’t they, I had to laugh at Wilfie in the bag. And even more at Milo in the draw, what an unusual colour he is, lovely looking Cat.
The other day I had some beauty products from QVC and they were only in a small box which when on the floor one of my Cat!s Marmaduke decided he would show off, and he is a big Cat, he shuffled his back end into the box as that is all that would fit and then started being silly, then the dog’s joined in barking at him as he was being silly in the box, I don’t know what it is about them but they seem to like bags, boxes and drawers. He is often sat in the filing tray on my desk, wouldn’t be so bad if he did the filing.
Glad you had a nice time at Daniel’s and well done on the win.
Your photograph I would say early eighties. With regard your hair it looked lovely the other night when you had it up when you were on with Simon.
Hope Sophie has luck in finding a flat.
Hope your results come back good, keeping fingers crossed for you. And good luck with your book.
    Take care.
    Love Jean X

      Hello Jean
Milo has been at it again. Yesterday I was sorting out some Christmas wrapping paper, bags, gift tags etc and Milo was helping by squeezing into the shoe box with the gift wrap in it!
Dan stayed over with us Saturday so of course Wilfie did too … Very well behaved and Poppy just ignored the pair of them. Gives me more confidence that having them here at Christmas will be fine.
You were right with your guess of early 80’s – 1985 to be precise. I had a few comments about wearing my hair up including from my mum and more surprisingly my brother!!!
Still waiting for my results but usually takes around ten days.

      Hi Gina
Sorry I missed replying to this last week.
Poppy is a girl… well an old lady really and she is doing much better now thanks. She had decided she has a new favourite food, Hi Life in Tuna, and she as been wolfing it down. We are more or less feeding her on demand at the moment so she has put on weight and her coat is back to its usual glossiness.
Glad to hear you read the blogs regularly
