As I started the morning show on Tuesday, 21st May I had a quick look through the papers to see what the news headlines brought and I noticed a story in the Mail, which is all to do with the damage that sun can cause the skin. I’ve listened to Abi Cleeve from Ultrasun many times about this damage, but it was only when I saw the pictures and read about the science behind it that it really brought it home to me just how many of us are perilously close to doing damage by not observing ‘safe sun’.
It won’t be a surprise to hear that prevention is better than cure and yet so many of us treat this daily protection as something that we should only do when we’re on holiday or ‘out in the sun’. With the summer fast approaching and more news every day about global warming and hotter, drier summers, I was glad to see that we still have some very special offers from Ultrasun coming your way.
We have a Big Deal for week commencing 10th June, which I have talked to Abi about, and we have a great Today’s Special Value offer on 3rd June. The Big Deal is all about the face, lips, eyes and hands and the TSV takes care of you and your families bodies and face this summer.
Continuing with the theme of skincare we also have a rather intriguing special offer on 5th June from the LAB sisters, Lauren and Charlotte.
I was given a sample of this to try and I must admit it is incredibly satisfying because what you do after cleansing your face, is apply a thick magnetic face pack. You then remove this with a special magnet and it draws out many of the slightly deeper impurities in your pores and leaves you with a lovely clean face and also leaves a veil of anti-ageing treatment afterwards. I was a bit sceptical but it seemed fun to try it, and I was surprised at how much better my pores looked afterwards. I am of Mediterranean decent and open pores are a big thing for me but after the treatment they really did look much better.
You can see from the attached video how it works and I’m sure you want to join us on the day when the girls are in as this is something of a revelation.
We’re always very lucky as presenters at QVC we often get to trial new products before anyone else and one that I have had to wrestle back from my wife recently came from Elemis.
This duo made in heaven includes a new Adaptive Peptide Day Cream and a deeply hydrating Plumping Night Cream. Now, I call them creams but the texture is different and while they are both deeply hydrating, they are both surprisingly light…. and they smell gorgeous!
These are perfect for people who lead a hectic life and perhaps don’t get all the sleep they require (I wonder who that sounds like?). The skin is often the first organ to show signs of stress and these two treatments really help to tackle the issues and get your skin back in sync. My wife has had a bit of a bug for last three or four days so I have been running around like a headless chicken and she is struggling to get more than a few hours sleep in a row at night…. so you see why there has been a bit of competition for these two little rescuers!
Anyway, lots more to look forward to over the next few weeks. I’m off for half term to try and help guide my son through the final stages of his mock A level revision schedule and my wife is working every day.
Enjoy the fine weather and see ya in a week or so.
