Busy Easter holidays and healthy recipes!

Outside of QVC

Well the Easter holidays have kicked off, which means extra juggling, many play dates, a hemorrhaging wallet and a million questions from my tiny humans, and every other one of those is ‘when do we get chocolate Easter Eggs’? It’s not all bad though, we’ve had some lovely sunny weather in between the rain! I had an extra day at QVC on Tuesday and as Fred was away for work I brought the kids up to my parents.

It meant we had the perfect opportunity to pop to Richmond and head to the Hummingbird Bakery for cupcakes. I would like to pretend that it’s just for the kids but I can’t get enough of the red velvet cupcakes so it doesn’t take much for me to suggest it. We actually had one of the red velvet cakes for our wedding cake. As you can see we don’t make it very far in an open space like Richmond Green because Tilda and Ivy just want to practise their gymnastics. Tilda is upside down at every given opportunity and Ivy pretty much just rolls around shouting roly-poly.

That same night we had an exciting event for my family. My sister made her debut as a Producer for a BBC2 Comedy Drama. She has been ‘Line Producer’ on some major shows but this is her first time flying solo as Producer so we were all very excited for her so we were all glued to the telly on Tuesday night for Episode 1 of ‘Don’t Forget the Driver’ staring Toby Jones.

It’s a beautifully shot show set in Bognor about a coach driver who gets himself caught up with human traffickers all meanwhile driving coach loads of booze cruises to France. I love it so far, amazing visually and also witty, amusing and brilliantly done. I had to get a pic of her name on the credits at the end. Well done Holly, I can’t wait to see the rest of the series!

What I’ve been usingElemis

Now you may already know that the Today’s Special Value from Elemis is already available ahead of its on-air launch on Sunday. It’s a fabulous Radiant Skin Top to Toe 6 Piece Collection. You can have a look at that here but I also wanted to tell you about some new products that will also be making an appearance on Sunday.

The Ultra Smart Pro Collagen Complex Serum and Eye Duo I think are going to be really popular. The Serum is a powerful concentrate for fighting the appearance of lines. It’s infused with 12 specialised macro and Micro algae to help promote, preserve and protect the foundations of the skin. The eye duo is a morning balm and an evening cream targeting signs of ageing, puffiness and improving the feeling of elasticity. I’ve been really enjoying the applicator which is cool and helps to de-puff my eyes in the morning.

Find out more about this range from Keeley when she’s here on Sunday. I thought you would be amused to see what it’s like when I try to get work done with the kids home for Easter. Funnily enough it isn’t quite so easy to get that perfect shot!!

What I’ve been wearingBen de Lisi Skirt

I have been embracing skirts lately, particularly ones that nip in at the waist and then go out, as they work for my body shape. I have worn this skirt a few times recently so I thought I would share it with you. It’s from Ben de Lisi and it’s called the Crepe Geo Square Print Full Circle Skirt. It’s such an easy piece to wear as there are no zips or buttons to worry about. It’s like a scuba style material so it keeps a really good shape.

I wear a size 12 which I am in most brands and it’s spot on. I teamed it with a Joe Browns turtle neck but you could also work this look with a plain black, white, or even Burgundy T-shirt. It would also be nice with a white shirt too. A black roll neck and tights in the winter will work nicely too, so it’s an all-year-round skirt. It’s a cotton/elastane and machine washable.

What’s newBoho Betty

I had a lovely show on Monday with Bex from Boho Betty bringing a whole new range of pieces to the collection, lots of pieces inspired by shells and the sea. Boho Betty is very much inspired by travel and colour and the whole collection is really affordable. Many of the pieces include semi-precious stones so I still find the prices really amazing.

The turquoise colour stacking bracelets with Miyuki beads are a good example of that as many of the beads are agate. My favourites in the show were the Mother of Pearl Shell Chandelier Earrings, they are statement earrings but not heavy at all and they catch the light like a mermaid tail! Check out the full range over on our website.

In the kitchen

It’s salad season! It’s also time to lose a few pounds in our house. Fred and I have not been the healthiest lately. We’ve fallen into the trap of comfort eating our way through the dreary first few months of the year and now we are paying the price. So we are now going to make a concerted effort to cut back on the evening carbs and try to stop indulging in the sides of garlic pizza bread cream sauces and cheese! I don’t believe in cutting everything out though, I need my food treats too!

So I did my best to go healthy although I did still use bacon in this salad!

For the two of us I used –

1 Bag Mixed salad
5 rashers of bacon
Baby vine tomatoes
1 Avocado
Chia Seeds
Pumpkin Seeds
Fresh Lime
Balsamic Glaze
Olive Oil

Fry the bacon in a drizzle of olive oil until crispy and set aside to cool. Lay a bowl with the salad leaves, de-stone the avocado and chop it up small and scatter half in each bowl. Chop the tomatoes up into quarters and do the same again. Scatter a spoon of pumpkin seeds over each bowl followed by a teaspoon of chia seeds. Squeeze a wedge of lime over each bowl, add a drizzle of olive oil and balsamic glaze. Then chop up the cooled bacon and scatter evenly over both salads.

This was more filling than I expected and still felt like we were having a really nice dinner. The seeds added extra crunch and the squeeze of lime added a little zing, sweetness and freshness. We will definite be having this one regularly and perhaps swap in chicken or even turkey bacon to be a bit more healthy.

That’s it from me this week, I’m taking some of next week off for the Easter Holidays and for Ivy and Fred’s Birthdays so it’s a busy week! I shall still be posting a blog so I will let you know what we got up to to celebrate! You can keep up with some of what we get up to on my Insta Stories on Instagram so make sure you are following me over there if you fancy it.

I hope you all have a fab weekend, I’m back at QVC on Monday.

Lots of love Katy xx

    Hi Katy

Its good to hear that you have been enjoying lots of family time over the spring break : )

I just wanted to say that I recently saw you presenting a TSV and saying that you had received negative comments in the past about your teeth. I think you have a beautiful smile and am horrified that people would be so unkind.

    Keep smiling : )
