Amazingly tasty bruschettas Anne Dawson QVC

Buon appetito!

Hi all!
Well, as referenced on several occasions, my love of all things Italian in no way excludes the food!

Perhaps it’s a bit of a sympathy vote I’m after – well, who wouldn’t end up putting on a few pounds judging by these photos?

The interesting thing is that, in all honesty, I don’t think the photos do the food true justice (well maybe the pizza one does…I can almost taste it! :))

Many of you will be aware that in almost another lifetime, I lived and worked in France. My first 6 years of living in London was in the restaurant business. Now I don’t want to upset any French foodies out there, as I’m still a huge fan of French cuisine, but…I’m sorry, in my opinion (and it is, after all, only my opinion), they are pipped at the post by the Italians!

a fabulous spaghetti dish Anne Dawson QVCIt’s the simplicity of the Italian “cucina” that I love. No need to smother everything in a rich cream sauce. Just let the ingredients speak for themselves. It’s almost as if the less you interfere with the food, the better!
I didn’t understand at first how they would compliment the chef sometimes on dishes that I would sit there and think, “but that’s easy, it’s hardly involved any actual cooking at all”!
And there lay my first error!
It’s not always about “cooking” per se, but about understanding what to put with what, ingredient-wise, and using the simplest, freshest ingredients that you can get your hands on.

So, I hope you like the photos of some of my favourite dishes. As you can probably tell, it’s the ice cream that is the biggest culprit in piling on the pounds. The little glass with the coffee cream is what I always have after lunch. Then the dish of ice cream that you see takes place around 5pm. I convince myself that since I’m not having dessert in the evening, I’m not being too naughty (but that good intention tends to go by the wayside on occasion too!). I mentioned in my last blog that I absolutely love afternoon tea in this country too.

So my question is, what is your absolute favourite dish?

It can be anything from a bacon sarnie, to steak and chips, Christmas pudding and beyond!
What would you choose as your ultimate food experience?

This is not about a holiday, an occasion or the company. It’s just pure and simple, you and the food! So what would it be?

Answers on a postcard please! Only joking…just reply to my blog! 🙂

Oh and by the way, if you’re wondering what on earth a photo of little Sophie is doing in amongst this lot, well, I think she looks good enough to eat too! 😉

Buon appetito!

Anne x

Hi Anne, well I am really jealous of all that yummy food! And what are you talking about? You’re looking younger with every passing day! You really have a glow. I don’t know what my favourite food is! Though as it’s Sunday I will choose a roast today! You and Sophie are gorgeous btw!x

    Hi Anne,
I did do a reply earlier in the week but can’t see it so here goes again!
My favourite foods are roast potatoes and I love fresh bread so allow me a slice of good quality with a slathering of butter and I’m happy! I have travelled all over France and love the food and people – I have family there too – but when it comes to eating out, my partner and I always head for Italian food 🙂
I love the photo of you with Sophie – and the outfit you’re wearing is really nice.
    Beth XX.

Hi Susan, major apologies for the very late reply. Partly my fault and partly a few gremlins in the system!! You are always so very complimentary. A real tonic as they say!! Yes I too love a Sunday roast. Especially in the winter months 🙂 xxx

Hi Beth! Really sorry for all the confusion. I too tried to reply. Anyway, lovely to hear from you as always.
Beth! You should be a food critic. Your descriptions are making me positively salivate! Brilliant! (even though I’m trying to curb the bread at the moment. That and a lot of other stuff besides!)
    Hope you’re well my lovely.
    Do stay in touch.
    Anne x
