So… the hottest tickets in town and… yesss we (and I mean we… the family en masse) were invited. I have been lucky enough to go over the years, even work there, but blimey this year was totally fabulous – slick production, amazing artists and sooo super to see so many dancers on stage which gave me great joy as an ex (once a dancer always a dancer) dancer.
The voices were perfect and oh goodness when the delicious Hugh Jackman opened the show I was truly struggling as to where to focus… the huge close up shots on the backdrop, the actual live action, the delectable Hugh… t’was a feast for the eyes and my innards were actually moving with the incredible sound!Closing the show was Pink who has never really been on my radar but oh my word she so is now. She was awesome in every way. Happy children, though we did have to walk ahead of Maddie and Joe who are too cool for school at the moment! Tom however was a tad disappointed as he actually thought he was going to properly meet and chat with all the stars. We did attempt to get into the after-show party as we did have tickets and even though Maddie looked sooo grown up… 18 was pushing it! That said we had a superb time and I felt rather rock & roll (momentarily).
Half term was mostly taken up with clearing and tidying, I finally managed to cleanse my wardrobe, my make-up and my shelves laden with products, it feels so good I can tell you. Although I managed a huge bag to the charity shop and a lot of clothes to pass on to friends, I still am a “keeper”! Kidding myself that Maddie may rejig some of my things or even more of a “kid” is that I may fit back in them!!Yeah right… first time in my life that I have experienced such a change in my body that clothes don’t fit. In the past I may not have liked myself in something but it still fit me, recently however the body is a changing, regardless of food type, intake, exercise etc. etc. ex blinkin’cetera and I don’t like it one bit, I feel my clothes are sitting there and taunting me. I need to readdress, make peace, appreciate my health and GO SHOPPING!!! Every cloud!
Dan, Tom and I hopped up north for a few nights – what a complete surprise to be eating al fresco in Skipton in February. Dan re-laid some bits of the patio and chopped lots in the garden, I was busy inside, and Tom…well he did a little helping and a lot of eating! It was lovely being with him on his own, being one of three children means there is ALWAYS someone else vying for attention one way or another. I think he also enjoyed the spotlight being firmly on him. We have even started planning his 18th party – I know, I can’t believe it either! When you are away from QVC there is always an interesting little collection of goodies in the dressing room awaiting your return. I know tough job and all that… as soon as I spotted these, the new Barepro Longwear lipstick from Bareminerals I knew; A. Maddie would love them and B. Maddie would look amazing in them (I was right) I took them home and showed her (after sporting a matte red, high fashion look, just to drive home …as you do!!!) needless to say Instagrammable pouts ensued! She is blessed with those lips and whilst Maddie at 14 clearly doesn’t wear these kind of strong shades yet, there are some lovely natural nude shades, all inspired by nature. They are long wear and vegan, you don’t usually get to put all that in one sentence do you?! I was happy for her to play around with them with them especially as they are clean without compromise and full of lovely caring ingredients.
Another lovely find was the Hot Brush from Babyliss featuring a big old 50mm titanium-ceramic barrel with firm bristles ( I love these as I think they are kinder to my hair ). It boosts volume and adds smoothness and shape without flattening the hair for fullness from root to tip.It features an ionic conditioning system which releases a stream of frizz-controlling ions directly in to the hair which gives visible smoothness and shine. All sounds good so I set about playing. Washed and dried hair (I usually leave mine to dry naturally) and off we go. Firstly, I was sooo pleased to see the five temperature settings as you know how passionate about hair health I am. It heated quickly and stayed a constant heat so smoothness was achieved, no mean feat for the wriggles in my hair and a lovely volume was created fast. Here’s a before and after so you can see the results…I think for smoothing bobs, bouffing up layers, grooming styles into soft waves, turning hair under or out it will be a godsend. There are days when speed is of the essence and whilst I don’t think it would deliver the curl type equivalent of the Babyliss rollers I have always used and the Airwrap which I also adore, without a doubt for those of us useless at blow drying yet wanting a gorgeous groomed, long-lasting look, it’s a yes from me! Do hurry though to get the fabulous offer as it will be Tuesdays TSV (5th of March).
Spring is springing, I can feel it in the air… Happy days ahead for us all. Do stay in touch here at QVC, and on social media where you will find me on Twitter and Instagram hopefully bringing a smile or two….
