I was a little absent on QVC these last couple of weeks and actually stepped out of the social media lure too. It is really fascinating and a joy… some days, and on others… less so. I wanted to give myself a fighting chance to be there as and when needed for Joe ahead of the exams, and as ever a change in routine can prove challenging for Tom. I had no big plans but crazily still managed to berate myself for my lack of achievement! I feel it such a waste to have taken some days off QVC and done absolutely zilch with them.
Intentions were set… I fancied heading to Brighton, a much needed trip to Aldeburgh felt a necessity (that, I am happy to say did happen) I would have space to catch up with friends. So many lovely, super, smashing plans careered around in my head and whilst each day started with a blank canvas, it pretty much ended the same way – BLANK!
I’m cross with myself, yet trying (on others recommendations) to see my small achievements positively. So I have cleaned chandeliers… as you do. Scrubbed down Gypsy ready for the warmer months, and yes I’ve kept the house rolling, the family functioning and the food rotating… but I am disappointed with myself and I can’t help it so I’m going to place the blame on… hormones! There we go, the blame is parked and with it a freeness of spirit to accompany it. Isn’t it crazy to mentally beat oneself up for absolutely nothing?
So here I am pulling my socks up, metaphorically speaking as I’m relishing the bare legs and a silk skirt combo… delicious and summery. Thank goodness for the range of faux tans we have in stock at QVC. Isle of Paradise being my newest trial – easy, streakless and odourless. Honestly, on application, the usual smell was masked by a fresh eucalyptus scent, when I bathed later and the water hit me, I did get a waft of the fake tan smell BUT as soon as I was dry again… gone! So that was impressive.
Having missed our Beauty Event last weekend I was very pleased and very happy to share with you that so many of the offers… many 4 interest-free instalment deals and some without P&P are still current until May 5th if you check our website.
A few of my favourites are there, with Revitabrow successfully giving me back my tails! I truly have a more lush brow, they were pretty ok before but the ends were thinner and it’s brought them back a treat. I think mine took longer than the 30 days to see a difference so I was thrilled to see the 90 day money back guarantee available. Four interest-free instalments help with that purchase I think!
Nails Inc pots have four in a collection with the Rose scent and the Coconut scent (I love the smell just not the texture of coconut!) they hopped straight into my basket with the first Easy Pay. Two for me and two for my Momie. Top tip, dark colours in one, lights in another – oh and glitter takes more patience!
Remember how I blamed my indecisiveness on my hormones earlier? Well I’m certainly blaming them for how my skin on my body feels… it’s so irritated, almost as though it may split, it’s not that dry it’s just a feeling and I have to slather on cream particularly as I lay down to sleep. I’ve never loved the feeling of being enveloped in creams but now it’s a necessity! So I’m trying out the L’Occitane Home and Away Shea shower oil and body lotion set in an attempt to lessen the itching… any thoughts on what may help?
My “Claire Cherry picks” is two-fold this blog.
Firstly I was asked to suggest a gift for a friend’s daughter for her 15th birthday and as Maddie is almost 15 too and very make-up and brand aware I immediately thought of these Bobbi Brown Pro Brushes. It’s a gorgeous set, the case is perfect and houses the brushes you need. We all end up with too many brushes, surplus to requirement and so I loved the simplicity yet necessity of this five-piece full size brush set.
The second request for help came in the form of another teen, currently taking medication which means she must fully protect her skin in the sun. No hesitation in recommending Ultrasun and the face formulas with a tint may help give her confidence and a little coverage whilst all importantly protecting her. Shout away if I can help you with anything.
The most important question I am currently asked (at least 10 times each day) is… “How many days until my birthday?” Tom is on countdown to his 18th birthday! Never have I witnessed such excitement, it truly is contagious and we all are gearing up for Saturday 4th May and all the celebrations.
I have spent vast amounts of my time fighting with my MacBook and finally after many hours where he “took control” the lovely Pedro from Apple “found” some storage again for me so my photos could actually download and I could finally spend the time creating the book of life for Tom.
Oh how amazing it has been creating this book (and a second one as there were just too many memories and people to get in to just one… even with loads of additional pages!) it is most interesting that at the time we take them we are searching for and crave that perfect shot don’t we?
Be it for social media, the blog or to fill the frames on the wall, we look for the so called BEST of ourselves… However, as I put in all the random mad, silly and personality filled shots that wouldn’t have made it to be framed for sure, I realised what stories they tell. Maybe this is what has discombobulated me over these last few weeks, my baby, my first born, my super special boy is turning 18 and his years thus far and all his changing faces are there as a record of all his brilliance and all our love for him… just there in picture form… for all to see. I cried after I finished it, overwhelmed and relieved I had done it… finally.
I know Tom will have immense pleasure looking over and over again at them all whilst reeling off names, places and things that happened. It’s hard to believe these years have gone by and it was exactly this time 18 years ago that I finished my last shift at QVC, sold our house, bought a house and then had Tom… all in the space of a week. What a week… what a surprise and WOW what a boy I got.
Party pictures and proud mummy moments will litter my next blog, you so know it!
Until then, stay perky and share your smiles.
With my love as always,
