Last weekend when I needed to go and babysit my granddaughter Blake, I stayed over at the nearby hotel, and who should I see at breakfast but two renegades. It’s a good job I didn’t stay over, because I needed all the sleep I could get! First Blake and her daddy, my lovely boy Brad, and I went for a walk, coffee, and a catch up. Then she woke up and we went back home. Once Brad went out, it took my eldest granddaughter a little while to get used to me again but after a few minutes we were playing, putting things in and taking them out again of my handbag!
We had a lovely afternoon playing games, doing colours, singing along with Bing and Baby Shark of course. And watched a little of Moana. During the afternoon I was doing a little video of me and the feisty blonde 16-month-old, and guess what – she said Nana! Nan Nan to be precise. What a lovely moment and I had a lump in my throat! She then had a nice bath, we read lots of books, and then she went to sleep. What a lovely way to spend a Saturday and a good way to use up one of my days off. Mind you I could’ve gone back to the hotel again and slept for a fortnight 🙂 I probably would have had to avoid Lee Hohbein and James Murden in the morning though ha ha.
Then on Thursday I went to see the other one, lovely little Phoebe and my daughter Lolly, in Wales. (Delivering some things Nick and her had forgotten when they came to stay at my brother Glenn’s, where I live when I’m in London.) It’s such a beautiful place, with far reaching views, they are very lucky. And I spent lots of time kissing this little gloriously ginger bundle of joy who is now eight and a half months old and has two top teeth and two bottom teeth. Seeing her more often means she recognises me more as well. I’ve asked Brad if he will FaceTime so Blake can see me more often too, that will be fun!

Dress of the week
Isn’t this gorgeous? The ruched dress from Joe Brown’s is true to its name, very, very flattering, I love the links, the fabric is viscose, and it’s stretchy and comfortable. Very, very highly recommended 🙂
Pansies, foxgloves, and more – and the hugest lily stem, gracing my courtyard garden. The colours are amazing and the lilies are very impressive this year. What with even more wonderful QVC lighting on the way, it’s going to look even better! For instance, the new Luxform flame effect torches with remote control – how fab do these look?
I know I live in Sheepwash, but in Devon this week when I went to see my friend Alex in Belstone, we went past a roadblock of a different kind! It took ages as we followed them round the winding bends in the sleepy village high up inside Dartmoor National Park. Then eventually when they got clear, they scampered away! I also had a little trauma this week with a poor little pheasant chick that had got caught down the drain. I could not get it open, and my friend and I could not get it out. Then it disappeared, we think it went to the next drain but we could not help it, so we left a lot of sticks down the drain in case it could climb up. Fingers crossed it made it out on its own somehow, but at least I managed to pick up three of them and put them back through the bush to their mother who was calling on the other side! It was quite a steep 3ft drop down to the road, so they could not do it on their own. So tiny as well. Good deed attempt for the week done.
Also in Devon this week, here is the sound of the countryside! In this week’s vlog of the week. Ahhhh the country life in Devon!
WOW- New pre-shampoo spray cleanser from Colour-Wow
All I can say is… Okay I said it a couple of times. But doesn’t my colour look amazing! I used the new WOW Dream Filter Mineral Remover hair product, to spray in prior to my most recent wash, left it for two minutes, then did shampoo et-cetera and my normal routine. Very pleased with the outcome. Go here to see the full presentation and get yours now, why not get it at home and try it if your hair has become a bit dull.
Book of the Week
Julia Robert’s new one is available to pre-order! Check out ‘Little girl missing,’ a complete change of direction into crime for our Ms Roberts, and introducing a new heroin, DCI Rachel Hart. Very excited and looking forward to the audiobook… It had better be out at the same time!
Watch – The Thatcher Years
Regulars will know I’m into my politics, but this is more about nostalgia. Seeing all the things that happened in the early 80s, in this documentary about Margaret Thatcher, reminded me of the traumatic times we lived through back then – even going to war. They really were bad – some of them anyway. So if today’s political arena seems a challenge, take a trip down memory lane:-)
Otherwise check out Gentleman Jack! As you know I love period drama, and Suranne Jones (of Dr Foster fame), has done it again in a compelling kind of TV biopic based on the diaries of the real life Anne Lister. In the 1830s, she was a woman in a man’s world who played them at their own game. In more ways than one. Sunday night special, enjoying it very much 🙂
