Book launch time! Win a signed copy – or two! Plus, counting down continues – sneaky peeks and bargain alerts!

Hawaiian Escape fullThis week –
– My new book ‘Hawaiian Escape’ is out – on Amazon!
– Win a signed copy – of both my titles – in paperback
– What’s your elf name?
– Pirate the kitten update; and meet Scout – the most self-controlled dog in the world!

So the saga has ended, the drama is over and the new era has begun – no it’s not the plot, it’s my life!

My goodness, it’s been intense these last few weeks! So – drum roll, fanfare! – I’m proud to announce that my new romance novel ‘Hawaiian Escape’ is finally finished, finally uploaded, and finally available on Amazon to buy now! (info below) – whoooooop!

And oh, whaaat a saga it was! I finally finished it on the MORNING I was due to upload it! Eeek! My lovely beta readers group had helped by sanity-checking and proofing most of it, but the tricky ending meant a right old last-minute rejig… I’ll say no more.

I’d tweaked, I’d fallen asleep at the keyboard, I’d woken with the first sounds of birdsong to find 'sdfndsnsdmfdnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn' written all over the screen, shaken myself awake then I carried on tweaking (no, I said ‘tweaking,’ not twerking – I’m not Miley Cyrus, altho’ my bottom does do that – on its own usually…)

So now it’s available. And I can’t wait to hear from you guys to tell me what you think! It’s on eBook, and paperback imminent at time of press. But how do you get kindle? More in-depth info on how to order it is below. (It’s at a special reduced price of just £1.53, as is 'Hawaiian Affair', for short time only so get it now!)

Annnnnd breathe! So, I waited, and there it was on the screen. And soon after, it began to do rather well!

Selling well
Chart positionsHow chuffed was I to see my latest romance novel hit the giddy heights of 400-and-something in the main Kindle chart?!

I’ve never been up above about 800 before now, in the chart that matters most – showing the top eBooks sold on Amazon in the whole of the UK.

Well by the end of the first full day online, 'Hawaiian Escape' had reached the top 500 and, more pleasingly, climbed to number 13 in the official books/fiction/humour chart – just one place behind best-seller Tracy Bloom whom I featured recently on No 13 in chartRiWiSi!

It really means a lot to me, and even if it’s only that high for a brief period, at least I got there for a bit! Lol.

It’s the story of two sisters, and what happens in the run up to the events in 'Hawaiian Affair'. Feisty singleton and former international jet-setter Helen Parker’s life is in crisis, and so is her sister, Sadie’s.

Can Helen manifest her own destiny, instead of fixing everyone else’s? New man, new career, new era – but for which sister? From bustling New York to romantic Tuscany, we find out.

Debbie signing bookTo win a signed copy of both my books – 'HAWAIIAN ESCAPE' as well as 'HAWAIIAN AFFAIR' (PG version – good for gifting!) – just leave a comment below stating clearly you’d like to enter the comp.

One of you will be randomly chosen after the closing deadline, midday Thursday 5th, and the winner will be announced in next week’s blog! Full T&C’s here.

Good luck!

The Future….?
So what’s next I hear you ask? Well, the two five-star reviewers already on Amazon (speedy or what!) asked.

In short, the answer is a short-steamy-story-download in December! You see, I did something really unusual with this new book…

People liked the ‘steamy’ version of my last book, 'Hawaiian Affair', but I needed to think about gifting so there will be an optional extra coming soon.

Yes, there’s a certain ‘added extras’ download – it will be available in December as a free steamy download from my website for anyone who bought the eBook or paperback already, and who fancies reading ‘the detail’ as Leighton Denny called it! Lol!

Sign up on my website for the free regular newsletter to be the first to know!

Sequel. And then, in six months’ time, there will be the SEQUEL – Helen’s story, featuring an appearance from Sadie and Mac – coming out, Summer 2014! To avoid needing to stock up on midnight oil to burn, like I did this time, think I’d better start writing now! Haha!

Info below on how to get my new book, and a reminder how easy it is to use kindle.

Debbie and beta gangSo my new novel was successfully uploaded in time for Thursday’s launch, and launch it we did!

If you popped along to our little online book bash on Facebook on Thursday (28th) I do hope you enjoyed it!

For those who didn’t know about it, we had a kind of ‘party’- but on Facebook – to celebrate the launch (full info on last week’s blog)!

I also had real life support from five pals – some of my lovely beta-reader ladies from my Facebook group Debbie’s Readers, who have become good friends to me and Sharon – my lovely pal who runs the group with me.

The intrepid five came all the way out to Dorking for a bit of moral support for the afternoon, and to take part on facebook during the day.

The 5 at Debbie's tableIn between sessions of everyone tapping away on smartphones in silence (except Andie who didn’t stop talking, hehe!), much hilarity was had in my cosy kitchen! The gang consisted of Cath Purple, Suzanne Way, Andie Sacks, Mo Whitelaw and Joy Padley, who penned me a clever little ode.

I’ve never had an ‘ode’ in the style of Cyril (a la Esther Rantzen’s 'That’s Life!') penned to me before! So I thought I’d mention it here! Thanks Joy!

She’s also a writer, and will be publishing in the future – here’s Odethe tongue in cheek ‘poem wot she wrote’ for me! It was a very enjoyable afternoon indeed, and the ‘party’ continued till 9pm. Then I conked out!

Christmas booksAnd don’t forget, if you would like to see all the books from my author colleagues appearing at the Facebook launch party, go here and you’ll find the info.

Well done to Carolyn Mahony (‘Cry from the Grave’ – clever romantic cosy crime!), Mary Jane Hallowell (‘To Touch a Rainbow’ – gentle classic romance), and Mills & Boon Regency author Isabelle Goddard (‘The Major’s Guarded Heart’) for sharing the day with me and the gang and thanks to you if you came too!

Still to come…. I’m Happy Snow-Bum, who are you?… And hilarious, crazy balancing dog!

RiWiSimy weekly look at all things book!

Hawaiian Escape on KindleWinner of last week’s Book of the Week comp is Cheryl Williams – well done you! Lynda Renham’s ‘the Valentine Present’ will be sent to you soon! And if you like Lynda’s writing and funny blogs – she’s done another humorous, quite long essay – this time on the vagaries of Xmas! See if you agree and go read it here.

What if I don’t have Kindle?
If you didn’t know, is just Amazon’s eBook format, so if you have any smartphone or tablet or PC YOU CAN READ AN EBOOK FROM AMAZON.

With both iPad and Android – anyone can get a KINDLE APP – just go download the free Kindle app onto your device, and hey presto, your device becomes an eBook Reader on which to read it.

Just enter the app, then you’ll be asked to log on to Amazon using your normal details. Then your Kindle app on your device will import everything you’ve ordered from Amazon on eBook! Plus Amazon now offer an app you can get from their site for your LAPTOP too.

Just click here to find out more. Get it sorted, then you can order eBooks! Like this one!

Book of the Week – ‘Hawaiian Escape’ by … me! : – )
Book of the weekCurrently on a special short-term reduced price of just £1.53! my second book, ‘Hawaiian Escape’ is now available to download on Kindle eBook. Click here to get yours (available from Amazon only, not in bookshops.)

BUT you don’t HAVE to have a Kindle to read it.

As you can see above, Kindle is easy to obtain so you can read it on eBook. Plus, the paperback is available too (at time of press it’s about to be uploaded, so just search for ‘Debbie Flint Hawaiian Escape’ and the two options should come up – eBook or paperback – once it’s ready!).

It’ll only take a couple of days for the paperback to arrive to you, by a service called ‘print on demand’ and is a great gift for Xmas ‘cos it’s not as x-rated as the other book – i.e. the Steamy Option of 'Hawaiian Affair'!

Hawaiian Escape under the treeReviews for Hawaiian Escape

“Debbie Flint has delivered another winner. I enjoyed learning about the insight to Sadie's life, family and background. It has all I look for in a book. Story,Romance & Humour. Readers will not be disappointed.”

T. Grenter, Amazon

“I've been waiting for this prequel for a few months since reading Hawaiian Affair which i loved ..and I must say that this doesn't disappoint in any way. It's great to read how the events leading up to Hawaiian Affair happened and its very cleverly written which again made me want to not put it down”

J. Thompson, Amazon

It’s Ingrid time again I’m afraid… actually I’m not – I love it! Hehe!

Yong Kim from Wednesday night, and the world’s most chaotic opening preview to a show…! Lol! I shouldn’t feature it really, but car crash TV tickled me! Not that it was Ingrid either, just the universe conspiring against us. Hehe! Haha! Hohoho!

Elf nameWhat’s Your Elf Name? Specially as we launch into advent season, a countdown towards Xmas of some festive features – this week – what’s your elf name? Well? What is it? I’m Happy Snow-bum! Lol x

Pirate – What on Earth is That? Pirate the Tripawd Kitten’s daily experiences still contain so many firsts! If you were a kitten, what would you make of seeing a banana for the first time! Hehe!

NEWS UPDATE – he is doing well and they’ve raised just over the amount they needed, for him to have the little op on his back right leg stump (it gets in way and hurts when he jumps). More news in January…

Pirate and banana

Chimera catChimera Cat – yes it’s really genuine – Venus, the 100% natural, 0% photoshopped kitty cat from Florida who has got a Facebook site liked by over 140,000 people!

Apparently it’s all in the way the genes were split? Look at eye colour too – spooky and cool all at the same time! Bet she gave someone a surprise when she popped out! Interesting what nature can do eh?

Leave a link on a comment below if you know of other anomalies. Go here to see Venus’s facebook page.

Woolworths Remember this? Made me smile – I used to love Woollies at Yuletide – what’s your Xmas memory of the late, lamented iconic outlet? Add a comment below and tell me!

Mine is going to a store when I was about 6 or 7, when the fittings were still mostly made of wood and smelling that smell that could only be created with a mixture of polish, PVC toys, and pick'n'mix! Or their endless sales.

But never fear, we’ll have our usual end of season sales too – and a last minute Xmas gifts finale – see sneaky peek below!

ScoutA FACEBOOK FUNNY – Scout the dog, can stick anything on his head – anything – see more of Scout here.

Then, I saw this – sent by Sarah my lovely blog lady – and I absolutely howled – I usually say ‘LOL’ but no, I howled with laughter – at some of these pics on this link. If you need the tonic of laughter – I hope they do the same for you – it’s pog therapy, that’s what it is! Just click here – very funny!

XMAS COUNTDOWN – It’s time to start mentioning our favourite Xmas movies! I know this is one of my most talked about themes, over the last few Christmas blogs! But hey, I love Xmas and I don’t care! : – )

We had a poll on our Early Xmas Book Bash and the top Xmas movie was this one – ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ from 1946! – which is a two-hour-long, classic black and white period piece so well acted for its day, it’ll leave you with a warm fuzzy every time (if you like what I like!) 9/10 for me – one of my top films ever! It came top of our poll, narrowly beating the original 'Miracle on 34th Street' which is also, er, wonderful!

TomTom Comedy Channel – and here’s a first for you to watch! Clever marketing. You know how we love our sat nav brand here on QVC, well watch some of these curious little vignettes – TomTom and the Comedy Store London present the first improv comedy show on wheels – less than a minute – suggestions being sent in by the public for reasons to have a sat nav.

Not all brill, but some are worth a watch! Like ‘Chewbacca on his way to a Waxing Salon’, or ‘Alien being taken to ‘our leader’ by a London Cabbie’ or this one – I had to think about it, but it’s quite clever!

For those who adore getting your Xmas shopping deliveries more or less guaranteed from us, in time, before the big day – do join us for two lots of two-hour grand finales of ‘last minute gifts’ on 19th and 20th at 10pm onwards – with me, then Dale!

‘Cos that’s the deadline for buying from your fave shopping channel!

Check the TV Guide where you can actually search for your fave shows – or presenters! – like Yong Kim (4th anniversary shows with great pricing which will be on Friday 6th!).

What a great day we had for the book launch! Lots of laughter plus hard work posting on Facebook of course!
It was good to be able to put faces to names, but then it felt as if we had been friends for years. What an amazing place is Facebook – in a well run private group, where there is no abuse or nastiness.
It was an important day for all the authors, but especially Debbie, who had set herself an almost impossible deadline in which to write and complete her book. Anyone else may have postponed and asked for an extension, but not Debbie – she just burned the candle at both ends in order to complete her task and even managed to write this blrilliant blog!! It was my pleasure to be part of the process and an honour to work with Debbie. Xxx

Oh Debbie how do you get the time to fit everything into your busy life!!! Another fab blog with lots of information and sneaky peeks at upcoming shows (especially TSV’s). Good luck with your latest book, sounds like you had a fab girly day on the launch and yes I would love to have a chance of winning a singed copy please. The Yong Kim blooper shows your true professionalism at your presenting, although I think that the camera person was a little too eager with their close up shots of the top that you were trying to present!!! Looking forward to your next blog x

Firstly can I thank you for picking me as the winner last week can’t wait to read the Valentines Present
What a busy week you’ve had –again!! The early Christmas book party was a great event. Wish I could have taken more of part. However work does spoil enjoyment at times and I also went into Manchester that evening to see if I could catch a glimpse of Gary Barlow in the flesh – which I did manage but he was too far away to get a good picture of him
Can’t believe where this year is going!
Loved the blooper with Ingrid. My mum wasn’t watching the clip with me but came in as I was I knew it was you from your dirty laugh!
Enjoying your books and would love to be entered in this weeks prize draw

I started to read Hawaiian Affair…but had to stop as my Cozee TSV is so comfy that I fall asleep as I soon I pull the duvet over! The horrid cold/cough lurgy has stopped everything….I never thought I’d see the day when it was impossible to smell Yankee and L’Occitaine – fortunatley L’Occitaine Cherry Blossom is so lovely that friends haven’t minded that I’ve drencged myself in it in an attempt to smell!!
Hope ‘The Lurgy’ doesn’t reach any of you at QVC.
Please enter me into the competition – I can then read both books in correct order when better!
