I’m writing having celebrated my 40th birthday! Eek. Just a number, so relax (note to self). It was quite momentous for me, when you consider I’ve not had the illustrious wedding or birth of a child, this is quite a big occasion – so why not make the most and celebrate with friends and family? I’m a big advocate of celebrating life! Any excuse.
If you’ve had a chance to read my last few blogs you’ll know that I’ve been partial to travel, holidays and lots of celebrations already this year and it’s not over yet! I was in the Isle of Wight for my actual birthday weekend with friends and of course Ted the dog, then I’m off to a villa in Ibiza in September with a big crowd of us for the main event. In July I went off to pastures new, found a little spot up by the border of Macedonia/Greece that was beautiful. I’ve never been to that area before so didn’t know what to expect and was hoping for some peace and quiet and a total rest. Thankfully I found that in abundance and some great food, drink and the perfect vistas to go with it! If you don’t normally hire a car whilst on holiday I’d highly recommend it because you get to see so much more of the area you’re in and discover lesser visited spots and secluded restaurants. There is a downside to driving abroad apart from being on the wrong side of the road, the streets can be pretty crazy with little or no highway codes being followed at times, not for the faint hearted. As is typical here in the UK we have to mention the weather, it’s definitely changed and I’m really happy for this to happen. There were some sweltering days and some sticky nights where you just couldn’t escape it, now with cooler temperatures I’m loving it, just about perfect! Just watch out for the September wasps and mosquitos, they’re rife. It’s that time of year when all the high streets and department stores have switched their shop front to autumn and so have we here at QVC. I’d like to walk you through a few of my favourite fashion transitional pieces I’ve seen on the Autumn Catwalk.
Let’s hear it for this number from Ruth Langsford, a bomber with a difference! It fuses the palms of summer that we’ve loved and ad popped it on a medium weight jacket. It’s a real summer meets autumn piece. Just team with a white T-shirt and some slim jeans then layer up your awesome accessories. Now that’s an easy and fab outfit to achieve.
I love UK-based brand, Damsel in a Dress. I’ve hit several of their pieces from the range and they are awesome. This top is not just a great transitional piece but a year-round design. It’s got more than enough about it to head out on the town, but tuck into a pencil skirt to lift a work day outfit. If you want that smart-casual vibe then team with indigo jeans and heels.
You can’t have a fashion section without Kim & Co or a bit of leopard. So rock out in style with this abstract animal short sleeve tee in her famous Brazil knit long lasting fabric. I love the idea of a dash of animal peeping out from under a biker style cropped leather. Always a winner. Throw on some Bronx ankle boots and you’re literally off the catwalks.
Get yourself a large printed awesome scarf that gives you bang for your buck. This blanket scarf is currently almost half price and a cracking bargain. This Pia Rossini piece is your secret transitional weapon and come mid-September you’ll be loving that you bought it. Don’t leave the house without it for added warmth and a style uplift.
Love them or hate them they are the boots on the scene this season. Firstly they’re white which is right where you want to be, then they have the cut out detail, small heel and studs. This is the ultimate accessory to raise your fashion stakes. There’s no doubt you’ll cause boot envy. Worth every penny!
So that’s you up to date for now, over and out with big love,
