Big family bash and Mally blooper!

Top pic
Have to say, one of the top moments of the year happened this week – when Mally got all up close and personal so I played a prank on her… people were talking about it for ages afterwards! Here’s the moment again in my blooper of the week!

Guess what happened next…! Hehehahaha!

Oh such fun – sometimes it isn’t like being at work at all…. However, this is, and what super offers this weekend! Plus below, find out more about our super family Flints festive get together…

This weekend’s highlights

Well first of all, here’s Today’s Special Value (Friday 8th) – and it’s the super Lola Rose Primrose Hill set of two semi-precious stone bracelets – I got my son to buy me the beautiful green and purple ones in the original set, but I like the black option in this new one. Click here to buy them now.
Plus from today, you can buy the amazing Amazon Echo 2nd Generation – it comes in a new material cover – here first which will be on offer as Sunday’s Today’s Special Value. Bear in mind the last Echo Show TSV sold out before midday, this one should fly as it’s a great value pack again too.

And Saturday’s deal is the amazing Lulu Time Bomb five-piece Radiant Skincare Collection, including the fabulous Vitamin Serum – looking forward to my 2pm show with the lovely lady. Launches tonight (Friday 8th at midnight)

On Monday Yankee Candle are back with the 28pc Your Favourites Collection – great for focussing on your top scents, you can get your early here.

Also, watch out early next week on social media for the early bird links for the Babyliss Smooth & Wave Styler deal, on air on Tuesday but the link will be available beforehand!

Family Flint’s festive fun

Yes it was time for our annual big family bash, with me being the eldest of five siblings and my kids being two of sixteen cousins, it makes for an interesting day! And what a funny pic we all did on the ‘Boomerang’ app – you see other presenters like Catherine and Marie Francoise from Kipling using it all the time. Well this was our version! Get the shimmy on one side and the star jump on the other! Plus my silly son Bradley being a jack in the box right up the back row!

It was a very nice day and a good time was had by all – as usual! It followed the latest family christening – see below. A couple of people were missing this year due to diary clashes and round-the-world trips. But it’s lovely to uphold this annual tradition. Do you have any?

Christening time

Here are a selection of pics from the Sunday morning christening – including a craft session, tea and biscuits beforehand, and my lovely kids with their cousins or second cousins. A very interesting experience, a long service, and I enjoyed singing a couple of the hymns – one of which brought back memories of being at Willows High School and Morden Farm Middle School all those years ago! I love the one of Brad with his little second cousin – the shape of things to come, right?! Only a month to go before he and Kari have their little one! My first grandchild! I will only be putting pics and posts on my Deb’s Diary blog on my website, no social media, but if you go subscribe, I’ll keep you informed – including about the latest deals available on early bird links etc.! There were a lot of people at the christening and we went back to the pub afterwards, so it was like a big early extended family reunion, before it continued in the hall with our regular cousins get together!

Being a geek with Craigy

Went to another amazing New Scientist talk this time with fellow presenter Craigy. It was all about Artificial Intelligence – so very apt given I was presenting the Amazon Echo Fire with Alexa that night! The speakers mentioned lots of history about computers learning to beat humans at e.g. chess, and also the ancient Chinese board game, ‘Go’ – even more complex than chess. And that the problem with teaching robots to think for themselves is that if you put them in a room and teach them how to do things, they base their actions upon a certain set of circumstances. If you then move them to a different room and e.g. change just the wallpaper, it can throw them completely. So we are some way off from computers taking over the world – thank goodness! Mind you, I’m loving Alexa at the moment! Look out for the big Echo TSV this Sunday!

Lunch with the writing gang

Had a super lunch catching up with other writers in the Wellcome Foundation café last Friday. My pal Litty works in the building and another good pal Sue Bassett arranged it, along with a couple of her writing friends. It’s always reassuring to spend some time with other novelists – it gets me back on track. They’re all doing so well – some have agents, some have finished their books, and others have deals. I felt a bit guilty that I have been writing French or Dutch for three years, but I guess all the moving house and setting up a business down in Devon this year are a good excuse. But I MUST get it finished early next year – and that’s a promise!

Alix is back from Oz!

One of my best pals, Alix, my writing mate, went away for six weeks and I misssssed herrrrr! So once she returned we had loads to catch up on, which we did over lunch then afternoon tea, whilst sitting in front of her superb wood burner. Oh how wonderful when it’s raining and windy outside, to be unwinding with a wonderful warm real fire!

Saturday nights in

Looking for some fab viewing on a Saturday evening? See some of the innovative openers for our 8pm show on Saturday nights in the run up to Xmas – last week’s featured Tony the voice over guy in the sound booth – he’s actually one of our crew, a sound guy – in more ways than one! I always enjoy the slightly different format, with guests getting involved and a competition. Do watch it if you’ve not seen it before!

Gift idea of the week
Had a lovely show again with the adorable Danielle Nicolle, a really lovely lady. She has a superb range of Disney merchandise – purses, wallets, bags and also other jewellery. Do go check them out here on our website. From Snow White to Aladdin to Gus Gus from Cinderella, there’s going to be everybody’s favourite there somewhere! Mine is Cinderella – I loved the Ladybird book when I was a kid too, which had three nights and three different dresses. But the songs of the Disney movie are forever in my heart.

Found out too that I’m going to be on with Antthony just before I leave for Christmas break – looking forward to it! His fashions are a great gift too – some as low as £8!

31 West
This is a blast from the past! Martin Pincott on Twitter sent me this pic from my time on a TV show at the old QVC building before QVC took over, you can see it in the background. It doesn’t exist anymore, they’ve made it into flats since we moved to our new building, so it’s nice to see it again!

Loving a series I’ve discovered on Amazon Prime – ‘the Marvellous Mrs Maisel’. So well written and extremely funny – set in the 50s and like watching one of those quick-fire, laugh-a-minute sit coms from back then, only more clever, with a sassy heroine who suddenly finds her idyllic married life turned upside down and she has to strike out for independence in a very original and fiery way… of course you can watch all this stuff on your Amazon Fire tablet – last Saturday’s sold out so fast! Maybe still available in the 7” Fire duo, but also watch out for the sister product the cylindrical Echo speaker with Alexa, coming this weekend (see above).

This week on QVC
As usual here’s your summary of some of the top deals we will be offering over the next seven days. Weekend highlights are above.

Also this Sunday, watch out for this brand new collection of timepieces from brand Ophia – our only available at QVC range. I love the designs’ names, like, Take Me to the Moon, What’s new Pussycat, and Moon and Stars. Join me on Sunday at 6pm for three of these new styles and be amongst the first to wear them this Christmas.

Monday – see Yankee Candle offer above – buy now here.

TuesdayLulu Guinness offering a chance to get a large Bobbi shoulder bag, plus…

…on Thursday another chance to stock up on your favourite designer with a new Lulu Guinness DAB Radio – I got last year’s and it’s great. I can get all sorts of radio stations I couldn’t otherwise access with DAB, my faves include Smooth, and Gold. Get one and try it!

Wednesday – a super Babyliss Smooth and Wave Styler – look out for Catherine’s blog about it.
FridayRio Facial Deep Skin Cleanser – one of the brands we used to do a lot of in the first years after our launch, Rio return on Friday. I’m launching this clever tool – used to maximise the effectiveness of your premium skincare – Thursday at midnight. Then I have Saturday’s Dyson V8 launch too the day after. Looking forward to it!
Plus at the end of this week, the early bird links for the fab new Dyson V8 will be available, as well as a super new Bissell upholstery and spot cleaner!

Next week
Hoping the see the film Wonder. And what happened at the big Christmas supper I’m singing at this Saturday at Chelsea Football Club in Kingston – eeek I’m nervous – again! Lol. Have a fab week. And don’t forget to visit my Deb’s Diary blog to see that scary mess in my Christmas wrapping room! Plus – it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas – see what you think of this year’s Xmas tree!
Best wishes
