Well, I’m known for saying how quickly time is racing by so I won’t go on about it too much, but seriously, where is this year going!? Anyway I thought I’d share a few more ‘behind the scenes’ photos at QVC.
I’m often asked what I do between my hours on air. Well, as I write this, I’m in the midst of a three-hour gap between shows. I manage to fill the time very easily and often run out. Firstly, I’ll thoroughly prep the next show. This entails reading through product detail which has kindly been put together and collated by our producers and buyers at QVC. I’ll meet the guest, look through reviews on our website and check the running order before meeting up with the team backstage, producer and director.
If I have a spot of spare time after that I’ll head to the canteen (of course!) and get a bite to eat. I’ll also send some tweets and perhaps, like now, write my blog. I’ll also be sure to face time home to see how my family are and find out if my dogs have behaved themselves
So, I took this opportunity to go behind the scenes a little. This is Dave in one of our studios taking care of the Northern Nights show with Suzi and Catherine. He’s one of many who make up the fantastic team backstage without whom we’d be off air in a very short space of time!
Something we don’t see that often, on air, is the lighting gantry. Wow – I’ve never really registered just how many lights there are. I don’t think they take your standard 60watt bulb!
Our new jewellery desk recently arrived on set. It’s brilliant and even has pull out trays for our iPad and rulers which we were forever losing!
We are really fortunate to have lovely dressing rooms at QVC. I’d like to point out that in total contrast to some of my colleagues (no names mentioned… Alison Young!) Dale and I keep ours really tidy!
As I write this, it’s blissfully quiet here. However, if you look at the video which shows just how quiet it is you’ll see what’s lurking under our worktop – I can’t quite recall what they were made for? Strange!
