Best laid plans

Just a short blog today as technically I’m on annual leave but thought I’d say ‘hi’ from sunny Spain where I’ve been since Sunday, although travelling home tonight.

Directly after I’d finished my OPI show on Sunday, I rushed home to pick up my suitcase and the other half, and we headed down to Gatwick for a tea-time flight. I needn’t have rushed as the flight was delayed so we made the airport with plenty of time to spare for a cappuccino – no tea-cake though, which is only of relevance to you if you’ve read my short story.

The purpose of coming out to Spain for a few days was to clear my head so that I could make a start on the new novel that I plotted out a couple of weeks ago, but things didn’t quite go to plan. Sitting in the sunshine relaxing on Monday morning a book title popped into my head, which Chris and I both agree is brilliant!

By the end of the afternoon, and pages of scribbled notes later, I had the whole story – including the ending, which is the bit I sometimes struggle with. So that was the book I made a start on writing on Tuesday morning when it was a little cloudy. I’m only a couple of thousand words in but I have a few more days off when I get home so hope to have 10,000 in the bag by the time I’m next on QVC on Thursday.

Julia's view in Javea

My creativity didn’t stop there though. Yesterday morning I had an idea for a novella ( a shorter book of between 30,000 and 40,000 words) and now that is scribbled out in my notebook too. It must be something in the water in Javea, that or this amazing view! We have been so lucky with the weather but apparently thunderstorms are predicted for tomorrow – shame I’ll miss them as they are quite dramatic to watch out at sea.

So to conclude my short blog I thought I’d draw your attention to Absolutely Famous as my Focus on Fashion today. They are the brand that did all the Christmas jumpers that we wore on air last year and Sunday will be their first show of the Autumn/Winter season.

I’ve had a quick look on our website and thought I’d feature jacket style cardigans. 161441 is a jacquard cascade cardigan in black. There is also 161442, which is a fringe drape front cardi that comes in navy multi or wine multi. It’s a little bit like a travel rug that you wear, but I really like it.

If you’re after a bargain though, 154881 is an Aztec patterned cardigan, available in black/white or claret and is, at the time of writing, on a Last Clicks price. There are lots of other styles as well so check out our website or watch the show on Sunday.

Aeropilates machine - 401171

I’m back on air at 2pm on Thursday with an hour of Aeropilates, although how much I’ll be able to do I’m not sure as my toe/foot is still bothering me – a trip to the doctor’s is on the cards I think.

Thanks to Ultrasun for keeping me protected in the sun, now back to my brainstorming … and this was supposed to be a mini-holiday!

Have a great weekend.

Julia xx
