Behind the scenes of Katy Pullinger’s Style shoot

The QVC Promo team were out and about on location again last Monday morning, filming fabulous fashion guru Katy Pullinger’s latest style hints and tips for the season. Q Gossip caught up with senior co-ordinator, Anna Trevelyan, for all the info from behind the scenes…

Rob behind the scenes

The crew met at QVC towers, long before the break of dawn, ready to head to East London to the special loft location that our producer/director, Rob Watkins, had hired for the shoot. It was a vast, chilly studio at the top of a winding staircase, filled with an eclectic selection of vintage props and accessories – including an old operating theatre trolley, a Victorian child’s scooter and a life-size portrait of Elvis outside the toilets! We had a crew of nine: myself, Rob, Hanif on camera, Jason recording the sound, Lynda on hair and makeup, Steph styling the clothes, Emma modelling and Ksenia styling the set, plus Katy presenting. In true QVC style we arrived with our crew van, plus an additional removal-size van, absolutely full of kit, clothing, accessories, shoes and mirrors – a true Aladdin’s cave of exciting things to try on and admire – but, of course, there was no time for that as we had to haul it all upstairs and set up ready to film.

Model and stylist

Katy selected some of her favourite looks and outfits from QVC’s spring collection, and talked us through how best to wear her selection of trends; including outerwear, layering, monochrome and dresses, with her pick of the most wearable accessories. Emma, our fabulous model, showed off some really great ensembles that could be worn to a wide selection of different events. Both Katy and Emma looked great, despite the near freezing temperatures, constant interruptions from the artists sawing wood next door, and a flock of very loud crows and builders on the roof!

The day flew by and eventually we were wrapping up the shoot and getting everything down the winding staircases, out onto the street and back into both vans, all in front of some rather bemused onlookers. Although we were fairly pushed for time, we managed to film 15 of Katy’s top outfits for the upcoming season.

Make sure you tune into QVC to see some of our stylish and very wearable fashion for 2015. I’m about to put my order in for the Tiana B lace dress for my next evening out!

We hope you enjoy Katy’s style tips and get some great ideas to revitalise your wardrobe for spring.
