It’s great to kick off the New Year with a key focus on new brands and technologies but also a celebration of some heritage and existing brands. The dates for your diary start the week commencing Monday 18th January, at 4pm when I will be doing a two-hour live Beauty Weekend Premier show on the beauty channel, as well as seeing some key products released on the web that week. Then Beauty weekend, of course, is Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th January so make a date if you can, to stay in and update your beauty regimes. Or make sure you have downloaded the app to keep an eye on what we’re doing whilst you are on the go.
Two new brands that we are very excited to introduce to you are the winners of QVC’s ‘Find a Beauty Brand’. The first one is NIOD. This brand originates from Canada where they manufacture their own formulas based on the latest technology and trend ingredients in the industry. They have a great price point and cool but functional, no-nonsense packaging. For skincare savvies that understand the biology of the skin and like to do their research on ingredients, you will love this range. It has a very modern look and feel so I think will appeal to any of you that want quick results, easy application, speedy routines and concentrated formulas. Any of you that would like to dip your toe in to test the range can take a look at it with a view to perhaps buying just one key product that will slot into your existing regime.
This range has been launched in the UK to great acclaim from the UK press, and you will have seen it out there in the magazines a lot. Going forward, as the co-winner of our ‘Find a Beauty Brand competition’ we are going to be able to bring you new launches, and special sizes and prices first.
Our second new brand is Little Ondine. It is a genius new nail range. Developed by three guys, one of whom had a family paint company, and, because they looked at nail varnish differently, questioned ‘why is it so difficult for girls to take it off? And why are they always using those smelly, strong varnish removers?’ After many years, they have created their own peel-off nail varnish.
Although we are very excited by this concept, I was a little bit dubious as to whether it would look high end. However, the minute myself and my fellow judges used it, it went on like normal nail varnish, looked like you’d had an expensive manicure and the finish is just as good as our other prestige brands – but then you can peel it off when you want to remove it without any damage to the surface nail plate. I think this makes changing your nail varnish both more fun and practical for all ages. Maybe even easier for holidays because you don’t have to carry liquid varnish removers, or suddenly you can take your varnish off quickly on the bus on your way to work or school. It is a massive advantage when using glitters because they are a nightmare to take off normally with nail varnish remover. Whilst here, you can fall back in love with special effects, knowing that you can just peel it off quickly. It dries at the same speed as normal nail varnish and the only slight disadvantage is that it’s not going to last as long as our fashion brands on the nails. However, with the judges and I it certainly lasted 2/3 days looking perfect and on some people, this may be all that normal nail vanish lasts anyway – with the farm and the horses at home, I have to repaint my nails every time I go on air, so to me Little Ondine will last just as long but will be so much easier to remove.
Although Beauty Weekend sees lots of new launches, we will also be celebrating our heritage products and my advice would be to all of you prior to these exciting shows to review your beauty regime for hair, skin, makeup and body. Write down your am, pm and weekly routines that work for you so that you know the regular products that you would like to repurchase in special kits and prices, and then look to new brands or new launches of your favourite brands to further enhance your results and take your regime to the next level. This way you will spend your money wisely because a new purchase should always be a new result.
Other new brands to look out for include Dr Dennis Gross (look out for a future blog coming very soon on this!), Nudestix, Bee Good, Westmore Beauty, Blink Brow bar, Pure Gold Collagen, and Fillerina.
Other exciting items featuring over the weekend include Today’s Special Value offers from Revitalash and Perricone, and throughout the weekend we’ll also be joined by tarte, Liz Earle, Nexxus and Molton Brown.
Don’t forget that we will be running lots of special shows on the beauty channel and then going forward we will be celebrating some of these new brands every Wednesday night starting January 27th at 8pm when my AYBNI shows with Will return. We also have a great two-hour review of Beauty Weekend on Thursday 28th at 4pm so I hope you can join me then too.
