My resolutions for the New Year

Alison Young

So it's the end of 2013, all the Christmas eating and drinking and general merriment is behind us and we are now looking to the next year and making those all-important resolutions, you know, the one's we make and try to keep every year?

So what do I plan on doing (and not doing) in 2014? Well first of all, everyone's favourite resolution – to get skinnier! Perhaps try and undo some of the excesses of the holiday season! I also want to try and sleep more – I really don't get enough sleep!

I would love to stop my horses from being ill so much, and on that note, to not fall off my four year-old, my last home bred. Work are petrified I will call in sick with something broken one of these days! I also want to get a new puppy as we lost Zak last year.

I must try and finish tidying up the house – although this is an ongoing thing and I think we'll need another skip! I need to also get around to getting all my photos into frames and putting them up around the house. We've lived here 12 years and I still haven't done it. I should also save up to put a new roof on said house as its leaking!

When it comes to beauty, I think everyone should commit to completing full courses of products. Because the skin cycle is at least a month, or ideally three months, to really see the maximum results, you really should finish the course, and stop jumping and changing around quite so much!

What are your New Year resolutions for 2014?

Wishing you all a very Happy New Year

Ali x

My New Year’s resolution is not to make any – January is a depressing month without beating yourself up after a few weeks if you cannot keep the resolutions you made! I aim to enjoy the New Year and take each day as it comes and not feel a failure if things don’t get done – none of us are superwoman!

Dear Alison , I couldn’t agree with you more!! That is one of my resolutions to stop chopping & changing my skincare regime. Great advice. Have a safe & healthy 2014!

My resolution would to be to ‘be brave’. I have been staying safe for so long, because of the ‘what if’ monster and yet I forget that there is another ‘what if’ monster lurking on the other side of the fence too, “what if i never go to the grand canyon because i was worried about spending so much?” “what if i never get the job that fulfils me because i’m too scared to make the move from the job I hate?” My mum has terminal cancer and I look at her and see that life is so short, and this year, I am determined to stop waiting for life to knock on my door, I’m going to make the effort to go out and find it for myself. Here’s wishing you all a wonderful, healthy, happy and fun 2014. ( oh, and to find a great eye cream would be good too 😉 )

    Hi Ali
My New Years resolution is to stop rushing around all the time and also go to the cat sanctuary and give a cat a good safe home.
Good luck with getting a new puppy-you will know when you find the right one as they WILL pick you!

I am certainly guilty of that crime (chopping and changing)!! I dont think i can commit to that resolution though when i buy virtually every beauty tsv going!! Currently loving the Timebomb one which i am very surprised at, being a bit of a brand snob, i didnt think it would be very good but am pleasantly surprised!
I am very very very excited about being invited to the Beauty Bash this year and think it will be just what i need after post christmas /January blues set in!! Have booked train tickets from Lancashire for myself and a friend and really cant wait to meet everyone xx
So my new years resolution…i think it will have to be to get on my Aeropilates machine more…fingers crossed i stick to it!!

To use body moisturiser after each bath/shower! I religiously look after the skin on my face, it’s about time I did the same with my body. I am also going to do more things for myself, rather than making others happy. Oh and stop using Facebook as I hate it! Hope you have a happy and healthy 2014 Alison.

    Hi Alison
Happy New Year. My resolution is to keep using my premium Gatineau and Elemis ranges, purchased of course from QVC and to use Ultrasun SPF30 Anti-Aging Face Formula everyday under my moisturiser.
Thank you for all the wonderful products and advice.

    Hi Alison,
Please could you tell me the name of the concealer that comes with 2 small tubes and a little mixing pot so the tube shades can be mixed and customised? I’ve heard you speak highly of this concealer in the past.
