Beauty Month – my fave skincare products and more

1

Hi everyone, can someone please turn the rain off I’ve had enough. I know it’s good for the garden but this is ridiculous! Let’s hope the sun comes out really soon and we can get back to enjoying summer.

This final school term for Tilda is in overdrive, this week alone we have had a choir performance, a school trip to the zoo and a school orchestral performance! There are school photos to order, the ‘leavers hoodies’ to buy, the summer fete to send in a bottle and a toy for the raffles, Parent’s Evening to book. It’s all a bit much on top of everything, but we seem to be managing to keep up. Sadly I can’t be at everything but I did get to watch Tilda sing in the choir on Tuesday which had all the parents a little misty eyed. They had us all smiling as they performed Eye of the Tiger complete with actions. It’s lovely to see all their confidence growing.

I took some time this weekend to mess about with the photo settings on my iPhone. The larger size iPhones like the XS and the XS Max have a dual camera which allows a ‘Portrait’ setting which not only adds amazing depth of field but it also has a really fun setting that looks like you have a studio backdrop. It makes pictures look like you have had them professionally done.

So we had a mess around to try and get a few nice family pictures. As you can see, the kids took this opportunity to make some crazy faces and shapes and we just about managed to get one or two where they were smiling… well just! I take most of my pictures for the blog with my iPhone as personally I think they are as good as using a proper camera.

What I’ve been wearingRuth Langsford Faux Leather Jacket

If you were watching the WynneLayers shows last week then you may have spotted me wearing the Ruth Langsford Faux Leather Jacket with the TSV dress. It’s vegan friendly being faux leather and it’s incredibly comfortable and has lots of give which is great for me trying to get kids in and out of cars etc. I wore the Cappuccino colour which is such a nice alternative for summer.

The Grey is already sold out but you can still get on Waitlist for it. A biker jacket is the easiest way to add an edge to any outfit and has become a staple in many women’s wardrobes. I think this one is particularly stylish and I love the printed lining. I have rolled back the cuffs to show that off as it’s too nice to hide away! What do you think? I am wearing the size 12 and I am a size 12.

Beauty Month – Skincare – My Current Favourites

You will surely know by now that it is Beauty Month at QVC and everything in this event is on reduced P&P of £1.95 so it’s a great time to stock up. So with that in mind I am sharing my current favourites for you over the next few weeks. It’s so hard to choose between all the amazing brands we have so I have picked the ones that I am currently using the most and I am splitting it up to make it a little easier.

This week it’s Skincare and I am bringing you my favourite exfoliators and then serums and moisturisers. I have also done videos for you on my Instagram TV to go into more depth which I hope you will find helpful.

So first up, exfoliation. I no longer use abrasive scrubs as they can be damaging for your skin. So in this video I am firstly using enzyme peels and then glycolic acids. I have them listed below.

Enzyme Peels

Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel 50ml (you can also get a 100ml) – I have used this for years and years. It’s gentle but effective and can be used twice a week. It takes just 15 minutes and you wash it off to reveal brighter, radiant skin.

Gatineau Radiance Enhancing Gommage 75ml – Another enzymatic formula. This one however only takes a couple of minutes so great when you are in a hurry. It starts as a gel and becomes more liquid as you massage your skin.

Glycolic Acids

Pixi Glow Tonic 250ml

This iconic award-winning product is a gorgeous formulation. With 5% glycolic acid it’s my go-to in the morning when I want to freshen up my skin and dissolve away the dead skin cells. Clearer, smoother and brighter skin is revealed, ready for your serums and moisturisers. You can use it at night, but as I explain in the video I tend to use this as a morning freshener when I need it. I sometimes just dab a little on my dry patches.

Alpha-H Liquid Gold 100ml Duo

Now this is also a 5% glycolic acid product but I find it’s a little harder hitting for some reason. I will be interested to know your thoughts on that. I tend to use it in the evening before bed. I call this my ‘fixer’. When my skin is playing up and it’s in real need of a jump-start I go to this. The difference with this product is that once or twice a week you let Alpha-H have your skin and nothing else.

Cleanse skin thoroughly first and then wipe this over your face and neck with a cotton pad. Then leave it without adding ANY other products. So no night cream or serum at all. Let this do its work. In the morning your skin feels and looks soooo much fresher and takes your other products in like a sponge.

Serums and Moisturisers

There are so many to choose from and you will want to have different serums particularly at different times of the year and even hormonal changes. So these are what I am currently using. I have also done a video for this too. Click here to watch.

Serums

The Hero Project Vitamin C-30 Ultra Brightening Serum

I use this in the morning before moisturiser. It’s packed with Vit C and 30% ethylated ascorbic acid which is an excellent skin brightening ingredient.

Murad Resurgence Retinol 30ml

This is a beautifully textured serum and as we probably all know now, retinol really has some outstanding results on the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Refining the skin and targeting pigmentation. I use this at night as it can cause sensitivity to your skin in the sunlight so if you use it in the morning you must use an SPF and stay out of the sun.

Moisturisers

Elemis Pro Definition Day Cream 30ml

This is a beautiful day cream designed to plump, firm and tighten the appearance of your skin. Elemis never fails to give me the hydration I need either as I have quite dehydrated skin and so I always come to back to Elemis when I just want to know it’s going to get what it needs.

Elemis Pro Definition Night Cream

I am definitely having an Elemis phase and I do like to have the same brand for a day and night cream so I am also using the Pro Def Night cream. So same targeted treatment as above but a richer formulation to absorb throughout the night.

When I then really want to treat my skin I follow with Elemis Peptide4 Pillow Facial before bed. When my skin looks tired and dull then I reach for this and in the morning my skin looks hydrated and bouncy.

So that’s it for skincare for my face. I’m going to need to see if I can squeeze in skincare for body too, I will try and do that for next week along with haircare. This could take months, haha!

What I’ve been cooking – Chicken Quesadilla

This is more of a ‘what I’ve been doing with leftovers’ rather than cooking. I am trying to be much better at using leftovers and not wasting food. So this is a lunch I made with roast chicken leftovers. I didn’t have enough for a stew or a full meal but there was enough to make chicken Quesadillas. It makes a nice alternative for lunch than a sandwich.

Take two wraps, I use the half white half wholemeal ones. Add the extra fillings of your choice.

I used:

Mashed Avocado which I spread on the bottom wrap
Chopped baby tomatoes
Chopped up leftover chicken breast
Fresh Spinach
Grated Cheese

Sprinkle all of this over the bottom wrap and then pop that under the grill. Once the cheese starts to melt, take it out and pop the top wrap onto it and pop it back under the grill for a minute or two to crisp it up. On a chopping board cut into triangles and serve. Yum!

What’s Coming Up – Today’s Special Value from Skechers

This Friday we have a really fun and sparkly Today’s Special Value offer from Skechers. These are a great alternative to open toe shoes for summer. They are a sparkle crochet slip-on shoe, super lightweight and quick to put on. Slip, then on and GO! They are from the GO Walk range so perfect for those day trips out and great everyday wear. If you’re a half size, then go a size down. They are on air tomorrow but are available to buy right now!

That’s it from me for this week. I think I better get started on next week’s beauty blog now as there is so much to get through! I hope you are enjoying all the great offers the moment. Stay in touch with me via Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.

Lots of Love Katy xx
