On Beauty Insider this week: Shiseido, Elemis and more!

I’ve just returned from a lovely skiing holiday, and I wanted to share with you some of my favourite products, including a couple that really impressed me.

Of course, a must was my Ultrasun Lip SPF30 and as well as their Anti-Pigmentation Face SPF50+ in the morning, along with minimal make-up for sport which included only one coat of mascara (because two would smudge all over my goggles). Definition needed to be created with the Precisely My Brow Pencil from Benefit, which was quick and easy to apply (and also water-resistant), while an eyeliner placed on my waterline helped to prevent smudging during sports.

OPI Fiji collection

I made sure I gave myself a daily nail treatment with OPI’s Nail Envy and Avoplex, and it was great to give my nails a rest from colour. However, I’m definitely going to be making the most of the new OPI Fiji collection this week, which offers beautiful shades to update your look with bold, on-trend colour.

Philip Kingsley Elasticizer

Apres-ski I would have a sauna with Philip Kingsley’s Elasticizer soaking into my hair (it’s our Beauty Pick of the Month for February, make sure you snap it up), and Liz Earle’s Overnight Mask applied all over my face and neck. I have to say, this was my favourite product of the holiday. Whenever my skin felt dry or tight from the weather or heating, I aimed to simply hydrate my skin and load up on moisturisers, as opposed to packing on the anti-ageing products.

I went on a bit of a lip mission when I was away, and I’m really loving the results. I applied the Ultrasun Lip SPF30 in the day (which my husband shares with me), and then in the evening I loaded up with Gale Hayman Lip Lift and the new Sarah Chapman Overnight Lip Concentrate.

My favourite base to apply after a sauna was the IT Cosmetics CC Cream, which is packed with skincare technology – but more on that next month, we’ve got some great news you’ll want to stay tuned for!

SBC Arnica Gel

For my aching muscles, I loved my liberal applications of SBC Arnica Gel, which sinks in really quickly because of its water-based formula, and can be reapplied easily without marking clothes or bed linen.

What I’m loving this week

In preparation for the new Beauty Insider series, I’ve been testing the Shiseido Radiant Lifting Foundation which we previously stocked four or five years ago – let me know in the comments if you remember it! You may recall it coming packaged in a little black nail varnish-like pot – well, this is the new and improved version in an easier-to-use pump.

Shiseido Foundation

This brand has been a favourite of mine for over 10 years for their foundation performance, and this new one just gives you an even more improved, sophisticated and up-to-date performance. It’s great for a comfortable, smooth application which delivers a medium-to-full coverage with an easy, long-wear performance.

What makes this foundation stand out is that it makes your skin look supple rather than caked on and heavy; it’s almost like applying a second, better-looking skin on top of your own. It’s not necessarily a favourite for oily or spotty skin, but would be perfect for combination through to normal and dry skin, like mine.

The other top tip is that you don’t necessarily need a concealer as it has such good coverage. Shiseido are known for being one of the oldest and longest-established cosmetic manufacturers who constantly push the boundaries of research and development, resulting in a very modern finish to your skin but with a reliable, long-wear performance that we need.

Celebrate SBC

It’s really exciting to be celebrating SBC’s 10th anniversary, as this was one of the first brands along with Gatineau and OPI that I introduced to QVC customers. SBC is a true salon secret that was only allowed to be purchased if you had a trade card, and all this time later, you have loved sharing the results and salon sizes and the economy as well as the effectiveness of this brand.

Coming up on QVC and the Beauty Insider shows

Becca’s first ever Today’s Special Value

It’s really exciting to have the first ever Today’s Special Value offer from Becca on Friday 10th February, featuring a complexion system of make-up tricks that this brand are famous for, giving a very fresh, dewy and glowing look to a colour corrected complexion. I love Becca’s elegant, sophisticated formulas. They give a very modern, celeb-like, look to even a tired and dull skin and I can’t wait to share with you all the application tricks that make-up artists the world over have depended on from this brand. Make sure you check out Will’s video with me, where he’s sharing a sneak peak of everything you’ll be receiving if you buy this collection.

Amazing Elemis

Elemis never disappoint with their Today’s Special Value offerings, showcasing unprecedented value with award-winning, spa results.

If you were first introduced to this brand as over 120,000 of you were with the Christmas Today’s Special Value offer, then you’re sure to love Sunday’s brilliant deal, comprising five skincare treats to help moisturise, firm and tone the appearance of your skin.

Relax with lavender

ABC Lavender Skinwash

The Australian Bodycare Skinwash in French Lavender is a beautiful wash that I’m really enjoying paired with February’s Supersize of the Month, the This Works Supersize Deep Sleep Pillow Spray. It’s the perfect combination to enjoy before bed.

Percy & Reed

Percy and Reed is definitely our coolest haircare range, developed by two incredibly talented guys, Paul Percival and Adam Reed. Both Paul and Adam have some of the most well-known and stylish clients in the world, and if you follow them on social media, you will have seen Paul travelling the world with Cheryl Cole, and getting her prepped for the X Factor live shows when she was a judge.

Their hair products are very clever and modern, and Percy & Reed look very carefully at their formulas needed to create a desired style, so when you use a complete range of products, that’s when you get that real ‘wow factor’.

There’s plenty more beauty goodness to be found at 8pm this evening, so tune into QVC Live to enjoy a show jam-packed with the best products, experts and brands, so you can give your collection a fabulous update. Don’t forget to check out QVC’s Facebook page and my Facebook page, where you’ll find even more amazing content. You can also send me your comments on Twitter!

Alison, I know one of your desert island products used to be gatineau floracil. I have tried the new one and don’t like it one little bit. It smells chemical and just doesn’t work as well. Do you think you could get Andrew to bring back the original? Meanwhile which product would you recommend instead of gatineau? I’m sure other ladies feel the same.
