Beauty around the building – Part 2

I’m thrilled to present you with the second instalment of Beauty around the building, where I give gorgeous beauty buyer Grace a fresh and sophisticated make-up look.

Beauty around the building involved me visiting the desks of some lovely QVC people, putting together a beauty look for them based on their skin type, personal style, and age. A great excuse for me to have a play with all of our lovely QVC brands really!

Hopefully there’s a few tips and tricks in here for everyone to incorporate into their make-up routine.

Grace (30s)

Grace is a beauty and lifestyle buyer, so she has quite a big input into the Beauty department, dealing with some of your favourite brands such as Molton Brown and Ultrasun.

Grace’s day-to-day look is quite low-maintenance, she sticks to a great cleanse, tone and moisturise skincare routine, and has a lovely complexion with just a little redness which she was looking to cover.

I decided to go for a fresh faced look. A dewy foundation was ideal as Grace’s skin is a bit on the dry side. I then topped off this quite simple look with a really beautiful, bold lipstick which perfectly complemented Grace’s dark hair.

I am 56 and suffer from dry eye, which (bizarrely) makes my eyes water terribly all the time, resulting in really sore skin especially around the corners of my eyes. I’ve tried all sorts of eye creams/blame, both expensive and cheaper, but nothing helps. Vaseline does help stop the dragging when I have to dab my eyes, but obviously not practical with make-up. Please help Alison, I’m struggling!

I too get watery eyes but I bought some hydrating eye drops from the chemist and it cleared it up. I was told the eye was watering to make up for it being dry and therefore putting in the hydrating eye drops worked. Good luck.

Is there a mascara that won’t melt and leave me with panda eyes? I haven’t found one as yet.

I have found Dalton Lash Fix tilting mascara works on my lower lashes. I use Revitalash and my lashes are quite long and if I don’t use the Dalton mascara then any other mascara I use will give me the black smudges under the eyes – I save my Dalton Lash Fix mascara for the lower lashes only and use other mascaras for the top lashes.

Grace is a naturally beautiful girl anyway (luck lady) & this just gently highlighted the fact!

Message for Alison Burrows. See your GP as dry eyes can be controlled with eye drops – I speak from the same experience as you . Since using drops at night my eyes are fine.
    Hope this helps

I have a daughter who nurses and is alergic to lanolin or its derivatives e.g. lanilool. I have been looking for hand cream for her which smells nice. The only thing I have found is Neotraagena which smells of nothing. I have looked everywhere such as L’Occitane which I have bought over the years for her but it is no longer appropriate. Any brught syggestions??? It makes all sorts of conmetics a problem, not to mention wooly boots!!!. A related issue is that there are lots of things that don’t clearly set out the ingredients and if they do you need a magnifying glass to read!!! Help please she can’t be unique.
