I hope all’s well…
I usually start off my blog with a mention of the weather… how very British! Our British weather fascinates me and recently we’ve had a few of those days in which we experience all four seasons! I’ve led a reasonably outdoor life and as regular readers will know I love going on long walks with my dogs and enjoying our beautiful countryside.
I enjoyed a very happy childhood in the 60’s and 70’s and at the first sight of a single ray of sunshine – it was tops off! Many hours were spent either down at the “watersplash” or the many “gravel pits” near to our childhood home – literally we were outside from dawn to dusk in the summer hols.
The only time I ever remember any “sun protection” (please note the quotation marks), was when my mum insisted we slap on some sun oil when we went on our first continental holiday in 1969 to Italy. I also remember mum applying calamine lotion on my brother and I to try and soothe the inevitable sun burn afterwards!
I’m sure my mum would now be the first to admit that applying an oil with no SPF was tantamount to basting! But back then we didn’t have the benefit of today’s scientific research into the sun’s rays and their potentially damaging effects on our bodies when exposed without protection. I don’t even know if back then there were any “sun products” with SPF in anyway?
Of course prolonged unprotected exposure to the sun can potentially damage all skin tones, but for those of us with a lighter skin tone – having a face or shoulders like a lobster or peeling skin was considered “normal” in summer. If only we knew then what we know now!
This is something I can personally relate to as last spring I underwent treatment for damage to my skin caused by the sun. I was initially surprised by the diagnosis, as for many years now I have applied sun cream and for the past seven years or so, have been a huge fan and advocate of Ultrasun products at QVC.
My specialist explained that it wasn’t necessarily “that holiday in Spain” or “that week playing golf”, but years of exposure to the sun and that the damage may well have occurred 20 or 30 years ago. Interestingly it occurred on the site of an old childhood scar.
So fast forward to the present and my message is a simple one:
Please protect your skin and the skin of your family from the harmful effects of the sun, whilst enjoying the positive effects both physical and mental that the sun can bring to our lives.
Needless to say, I never venture out now without applying Ultrasun to my face and will regularly wear a hat (whether it suits me or not – usually the latter 🙂 ).
It’s not a coincidence that I have chosen this blog topic as tomorrow (Wednesday the 20th), we have a brilliant Today’s Special Value (TSV) from the Swiss sun protection experts Ultrasun; the Top to Toe Sun Protection Collection.
Guest and expert Abi Cleeve has provided us all with three amazing choices – all at an unbelievable TSV price and whopping saving compared to buying direct from Ultrasun!
All options have:
- 2 x Ultralip SPF 30 Lip Protection sticks
- 1 x bikini bag
Plus you get the following depending on your choice…
The Family option:
- 1 x Family SPF 30 (250ml)
- 1 x Extreme SPF 50+ (150ml)
- 1 x Extreme SPF 50+ (50ml)
The Sport option:
- 1 x Sport Gel SPF 20 (250ml)
- 1 x Sport Spray SPF 30 (150ml)
- 1 x Face SPF 30 (50ml)
The Glimmer option:
- 1 x Glimmer SPF 20 (250ml)
- 1 x Body Tan Activator SPF 30 (150ml) (NEW)
- 1 x Tinted Face SPF 30 (50ml)
I chose the Family option for its higher SPF but all options will help to provide protection against UVA and UVB rays. As Abi says, you can still get a glowing tan whilst using a higher SPF.
We have a stunning price on the day and there’s an Auto Delivery option too for up to two more deliveries, so you can enjoy sun protection through the summer and beyond at great TSV prices!
It’s famous “once a day application” (unless used in extreme conditions) is just one of the many reasons why both myself and tens of thousands of UK customers choose Ultrasun to help protect both themselves and their families from harmful sun damage.
I won’t go into more detail as Abi will do a far better job, but needless to say I have Ultrasun with me at home, work and in my car at all times.
Until next time…
Enjoy the life giving properties of the sun – safely!
