Another week of firsts – including my first time actually ‘steering’ a helicopter.. Lol! Plus – another funny with Chloe and Adele SBC, teasers of big deals coming up, and Bodyblade buzz with Bruce and his bevy of bladers.
First here’s my usual competition – to win this fab Gatineau set, just leave a comment below saying ‘enter me’ in the comp, and if you like you can tell me why you like Gatineau. T&C here and comp closes Thursday 9th midday, winner announced here next week. This brilliant collection is approximately worth over £156! See below for exciting news about when to see an OTO bargain this weekend!
Brad’s Floor Plans and my Sky Adventure
As the house move continues, my son and I had a fab ‘mummy and Bradley’ day – we’ve been having them for years since he left home for uni – which included a brief official helicopter flight – his pressie for me from Xmas! Although I didn’t fly solo I was able to take hold of the controls – kind of! The pilot, Phil, got me to guide it to left and right – aiming for far away houses or woods, high up in the sky over Elstree aerodrome on a Groupon Voucher, nudging the hand lever/steering pole (!!) in the tiniest of motions, and making sure my wrist rested on my thighs to enable the minutest movement.
The best bit was lifting off, hovering than landing, using a thing like a hand brake (and he of course did the foot pedals etc). See, I learned all the technical terms! Haha! And then Phil showed off, I mean, showed me some super manoeuvres across the four corners of a rectangular clearing in a field, including backwards – you actually have to look behind you by turning the whole helicopter round slightly to see behind – I did ask where was the rear view mirror but apparently it didn’t work like that. Nor windscreen wipers. What? It WAS raining! haha! It was videoed so when I get the copy I’ll post it on my website – sign up here to be the first to see it via my newsletter or on ‘Debbie’s News’ section. Go here to find out more about Flying Pig Helicopters.
Then we went off for tea! And back to mine to continue the sort out.
My son has drawn houses all his life – literally since he was about five – and now works as a Project Manager so he painstakingly and very kindly drew me scale floor plans along with little pieces of paper representing my furniture to help decide my new house layout! (Read the last few blogs for more about my surprise house move and how much smaller the rooms are!) It’s really helping, although I cannot decide on my lounge. Here are some of the options – which would you go for?
Find of the day – As the clear out continued after that, we reassembled the inversion table I bought when I was at QVC first time from Roger the guest. It still works and having managed satisfyingly to finally reunite the two brackets with the frame and bed. Then I promptly lent it to a fellow presenter for safekeeping for a couple of months! It was a great feeling to put it back together though!
But then I was the eldest of five and used to love sifting out the jigsaw puzzles and even putting all the 45RPM singles paper sleeves – remember the ones, with holes in the middle? – back with the appropriate vinyl disc. Did you do anything like that? Or is it just me being anal! Hehe! I also found a load of CD’s and DVD’s and will probably list them on Magpie site – a pal, Lesley Young, told me about it this week – she listed 100 and is getting £175 so it can be worthwhile since so many charity shops just don’t want them now.
But if anyone comes across a place who want VHS’s let me know!

Bruce’s Angels and the Chiswick Stretch and Flow new Bodyblade Video!
Big week for the Bodybladers, with Bruce back for several shows last weekend, so we invited lots of lovely customers to join us, not only in the studios but also at the Maid of Honour Tea Rooms near Kew Bridge, and after, at picturesque Chiswick House for a new ‘wobble’ – it’s a lovely 300 year old tourist attraction I never knew was there – and has a fab café too. Well done Anne and Helen and Tracie and Lorna and Janie and Jan and Sara!
Lorna Ko, guest and also a presenter on local magazine show Chiswick Buzz, came down with her camera crew, so for the first time, here’s a professionally edited version of one of Bruce’s famous Bodyblade Super6 routines, to help show you how easy it is to get in shape.
Simon had the honour of the whole hour on Sunday, where they also did a Super Six, which is here. where you can see the ladies doing the routine without lots of stretching in between. And Simon’s thighs of course. Take your pick!
But don’t forget to buy your ‘blade! Last time, with the through-the-night repeats, it sold out really early, and was out of stock for quite a while so it’d be good to get yours by clicking this link which hopefully will still give you easy pay – go here to see 432954, the Bodyblade itself on QVC, still on instalments and with over 140 five-star reviews! Just think, if you get it now, you may be stronger and smaller round the waist by the end of next month…
Ali K’s Wedding
How lovely to see all the wonderful pics and the special video our lovely Mark Cain did for fellow QVC host Alison Keenan for her wedding… A wonderful evening, and lovely weather for their special day too.
[Having trouble viewing this video? See YouTube’s Help page]
See if you can spot the presenters and guests in these pics – some with their other halves, and some are our fab crew too. I know you may have already seen many of these if you’re on my Facebook page (see above how to be) but if you’re not, enjoy! Good luck to Ali and Colin for a wonderful future together and enjoy your surprise tour of Italy honeymoon, Ali, especially your first stop, Rome – one of my faves!
Talking of which, you know how I love history? Well we did this unique necklace featuring a genuine piece of Roman Glass, in a pretty coin pendant which I was delighted to bring you on my Or-Paz show this week – it’s item number 623432 if there are any left – I’d go for it, especially if you love history or you’re buying a gift for someone who does – just think, it was genuinely made by Roman craftsmen around 2000 years ago!
WATCH – Bacharach Videos – can’t help it – have still got the Bacharach bug after the fab Hampton court concert (see last week’s blog here), so here are some of my faves, also to mark the occasion of Hampton Court Flower show last weekend too, and the correlating special second ever LIVE show we did on our QVC EXTRA channel on Friday (3rd) at 2pm.
Anyway, considering all the reminiscing that’s been going on with the Big Clear Out, especially old music collections, here are some of my top hits from one of the finest songsters in the history of song, 87-year-old Burt, who was a smash at Glastonbury, my brother Glenn tells me!
First here’s some rare archive footage of a Burt and Dusty Springfield TV show inc ‘A house is not a home’ – one of my all time favourite songs. See the incredible emotion from Burt’s bit at the beginning, then Dusty’s inimitable talent doing the rest. Cor. Respect! Enjoy.
And of course I have to include one of mine – and Burt’s as it happens – top three choices – Alfie. But just watch this vintage video montage – fab nostalgia!
Plus – have just had about half an hour of sitting loving these old tracks, and this is the one I want you to hear – Omg Karen Carpenter’s voice… I know the Shirelles recorded it at first, but this is the definitive version for me. I had it on a box set of Carpenters’ LPs in the 80s and loved it. They also of course famously did Close to You, another of his and their first hit in July 1970. Watch this 1972 medley /anthology of Burt hits by them, then enjoy this one – Baby it’s You. Enjoy.
And finally a lesser known series of hits – did you know he did ‘Magic Moments’, ‘One Wheel on My Wagon’, ‘What’s new Pussycat’ and ‘On my Own’? Well there you go, you do now! Hah! This was like being a DJ on Piccadilly again! Hehe!
