Autumn style: sorted!

2

Autumn is just around the corner, bringing crisp leaves, carved pumpkins, hot chocolate and a whole lot of wardrobe woes. The weather can (and will) go from freezing cold with torrential rain to mild and dry in seconds, and of course, we can’t forget that odd day of promising sunshine. With weather uncertainty on the cards, outfit creativity can easily go out of the window and it’s tempting to leave the house in pyjamas and a make-shift coat styled from your favourite blanket.

This raises the question – what on earth can you actually wear in autumn? Well, we’ve got you covered. We’ve scoured through our favourite brands and have compiled our seasonal must-have style secrets that will have you falling in love with fashion all over again.

Lots of layers

Picture this: you get ready in the morning and put on a jersey long sleeve top, but it looks a tad chilly so you add a nice thick coat to keep you warm. Big mistake! We’ve all been there. Your top isn’t enough to keep you feeling toasty, but with your coat on, you’re far too warm. Fear not, this is where layering comes in. Not only does it help to give your existing wardrobe a new lease of life, but effective layering will keep you comfortably warm without causing drastic overheating. Your classic crisp white shirt that you bought for your summer holiday can be instantly transformed by layering it under a chic jumper, and long-sleeved tops can be reworked throughout the year by layering with a skirt, boots and a gorgeous jacket. If you get too warm, it’s easy enough to remove a piece without leaving your outfit lacking.

We will definitely be adding this jumper from Phase Eight to our wardrobes this year for an easy layering piece, and this pleated jacket by MarlaWynne  will not only keep you warm, but the unique style will certainly add some interest! Midi marvels

It’s easy to fall into an autumn style slump, and we here at QVC can often find ourselves reaching for the same pair of trousers day in, day out. Baring your legs can often be a big fashion fear, but dresses and skirts don’t have to be packed away as the summer ends. Adding more of these looks into your repertoire is a great way of injecting some feminine style, and the right length can be incredibly versatile. For us, it’s all about the midi. This on-trend length not only gives you more choice when it comes to autumnal style, but when paired with some ankle boots, this style offers a bit more security than other lengths, leaving you to twirl on feeling as confident as ever.

This midi from Jolie Moi is a great choice for autumn. The all-over pattern is gorgeous, and the shirred waistband will help to highlight and complement your curves to create a stunning hourglass figure. We also love this skirt from Helene Berman, as it’s a super easy and flattering way to inject some print effortlessly into your wardrobe. Bring the bling

It’s not just fashion that can help transform your autumn style. Jewellery is a quick way to bring your look to life, and the right piece can really make an outfit pop. Brooches add some elegant sparkle while beautifully showcasing your personality when wearing a scarf, hat or thicker jacket, whereas a well-chosen necklace can help bring attention to a well cut cardigan or blouse. If you’ve really had to wrap up warm, a beautiful pair of drop earrings can help to shape your face and draw the eye upwards.

We love Butler & Wilson for statement jewellery pieces. This adorable pup brooch is a great way of adding some pizzazz to an outfit, but if you prefer a modern take on an edgier look, then you can’t go wrong with the Skull Cross necklace! Want to add even more sparkle to your repertoire? Have a look out our jewellery department for more gorgeous designs.

Jump to it

Jumpsuits are another brilliant way of adding more style to your autumnal wardrobe, and with so many to choose from, there’s an option for every taste and body shape. They layer beautifully, looking gorgeous underneath jackets and cardigans, as well as providing more coverage on your legs for those chillier days. Jumpsuits are also incredibly versatile. During the day, wear your favourite style with a cool pair of trainers and a jacket for an outfit that’s perfect for running errands or going shopping in. If you’ve got a date night later on, just switch the trainers for a pair of heels, add a blazer and some glittering jewellery and you’re ready to hit the town.

These jumpsuits from Kim & Co are definitely going to be added to our shopping baskets immediately. The delicate wrap detail instantly creates that much coveted hourglass figure, and we always love an outfit with pockets! Available in wide leg and slim-cut styles, there’s a look that’ll suit everyone. For even more jumpsuits, take a look at our whole selection.

There we have it! Don’t let the changing season throw you off, because dressing for autumn can be simple, stylish and fun! For more inspiration and our favourite picks for the upcoming season, check out our edit of autumnal must-have pieces.
