There’s one thing I love about working at QVC and that’s that no one day is exactly the same. This week was no different as myself, Catherine Huntley and Simon Biaji got to go on location for a promo shoot. The three of us had the chance to try out Body Chef which is a meal delivery service for those wanting to have tasty balanced meals and also to lose a few pounds. I will tell you more about that nearer the time as it launches in January, but I thought I would share a few behind the scenes snaps on here.
It’s always nice to get to spend time with our crew and fellow presenters on days like this because you don’t always get the chance to chat at work as of course we are on air! Sometimes we might see each other in the hallways and say hi but there’s more opportunity to get to know everyone better on a shoot like this. I got to know more about Simon’s kids and Catherine’s which was lovely. I can’t wait to see what the promo is like and also for you all to see what Body Chef can do for you.
Jam Supper Club
This week I had a rare opportunity to have an evening out in London. My friend Rhiannon and I were both up at QVC for work the same weekend that chef Dean Edwards was hosting the Jam Shed Supper Club. What’s that you ask? Well Jam Shed Supper Club is a pop-up restaurant at the Southbank Centre along the embankment. Each week it’s hosted by a finalist or winner of Masterchef. It’s a great concept as you don’t just sit with whomever you go with, you join a table of strangers who very quickly become your dinner companions. You share platters of food and get talking and by the end of the night you’re all talking like old friends.
Our dinner was fabulous, we had slow roasted tomato tart, Chorizo in a red wine reduction, crab paté, slow roasted pork belly, and Ferrero Roché brownies for dessert. What a feast. We had a great table too and we just happened to be sitting with a big fan of QVC, So I want to say a big shout-out to Kelly and her boyfriend who were fabulous dinner companions. (Pictured next to me) she and her mum Josephine (hello to you too!) watch QVC all the time for the beauty. They are big fans of Tarte! It was a fab night and if you ever get a chance to go to one then do.
What I’m wearing
I have had a good week for fashion. There has been an abundance of fab pieces that we have had on our shows. I got to present with Ashling and her Trend Edit and it was packed with so many coats and accessories that I would love. I’ve picked a few of them to share with you as they were so much fun. Firstly though the outfits that we wore were this gorgeous mustard-coloured Savannah dress from Ghost, it’s from the My Little Eye edit of ‘Hot as Mustard’ and it’s just gorgeous. I got so many comments on it on my Instagram. It’s a wonderful way to bring colour into your winter.
Ashling rocked another big trend for winter and that was the navy velvet jumpsuit from Onjenu which unfortunately has sold out but a similar one from this look is the Laurie which is also from the My Little Eye Edit called ‘Cosmic Girl’. Check out the page because there are some fantastic looks there.
Some of my other favourites from the show were the Rose Gold Biker Jacket from H by Halston. It’s definitely a look for those who love a fashion trend, it’s ticking three big trends – Metallics, Biker Jackets and Rose Gold. Unless you’ve been living under a rock you’ll know that animal print is still huge right now and this coat from Rino & Pelle, has gone to the top of my wish list! How warm will you be while out for winter walks and visiting friends for mulled wine and mince pies? The boots are fabulous too, the silver SKA boots are show-stoppers and the blue suede are just beautiful from Bronx. It’s a great way to shake up an outfit just with a pop of colour or metallic.
What have I been buying?
Yes I know, it’s another coat but it is coat season!! I have written about Helene Berman a lot here on my blog and I was very happy to get to meet her briefly the other day. I totally ‘fan girled’ her and ran on set to shake her hand before her show with Miceal to tell her how much I love her coats. I had just an hour before I ordered this coat for myself. It’s the England Check College Coat and it’s so stylish! Tailored and cool without trying too hard. You will be able to wear this right into the spring. I can’t wait for mine to arrive, I borrowed this one from the show. I will team mine with bright scarves for winter and keep it simple with skinny jeans and perhaps a silk blouse or even a polo neck.
Today’s Special Value
I want to give you a heads-up for tomorrow’s offer from Lola Rose. They have brought us another range of gorgeous infinity scarves to treat ourselves or family and friends to for Christmas. It comes in seven different patterns and also comes with a gift pouch to make it even more giftable. It’s a very easy style to wear and can be worn in a number of different ways. You can either double loop it, have it as one longer length loop, or loop it through itself to make more of a cravat style. See it on air tomorrow for all the styling tips. Personally I would be going for the pink heart design.
That’s it from me for another week, I need to get my rear in gear for Christmas. I have been so busy with work that I haven’t even started my shopping yet. I have a list of things I need to order from QVC though so at least that will make it easier. Keep up with me on Instagram and I will let you know how I am getting on with it all!
One more thing, as I mentioned Miceal earlier I also wanted to tell you to go and read his latest blog. Many of you had noticed he has been away from QVC and have been asking where he was. Respectfully we have been quiet on where he has been and just simply said he has had some time off. His blog explains what he has been dealing with and it’s quite an emotional read so please go and give him some love over there. We are all sooooooo incredibly happy to have him back at work, I’m not sure if it’s possible to have had any more hugs in the building than he has had.
Lots of Love
