See below for how to enter the super silver necklace competition. But first… Where is he now? Former QVC presenter treading the boards in Devon.
Look at this picture – do you recognise him? Yes it’s former QVC presenter Paul Lavers! My old mate! Original viewers will remember Paul, who left when I did in 2000. (Then I returned in 2009). He is frequently appearing on the stage nationally – it’s his original love – and last week I went with one of my besties, Sheena, to go see him in ‘Gaslight’ in Sidmouth’s Thriller Season, East Devon. Gaslight is the famous 1930s play, set at the turn of the century, which has a character who plays with the mind of his wife (pictured here, played by Sally,) and makes her think she’s going mad. Paul plays the detective who gets to the bottom of the real identity of the husband, and why he’s treating his wife so badly. Erin Geraghty, Paul’s partner, often appears in productions with him and in this one she plays the guileless housekeeper. It was a thoroughly enjoyable night. So good to see Paul – he’s enjoying life and his five children and nearly all of them have given him lots of grandchildren. It was nice to compare notes! He’s often on tour and has all the usual social media so do look him up!
By the way, Gaslighting is a form of emotional bullying by the way – I wrote extensively about it on my website Back to You blog about narcissists, when I encountered a guy being controlled by one last year. It’s a shocking way to live and one no one should suffer in silence – google more about it and you’ll see how much help there is out there. Fascinating that this play has such a tie-in with the 21st century though.
The Taxco Competition
Ooo! How lovely! I have a Taxco show on Sunday at 6pm – and to celebrate, here’s a super easy-to-enter comp. This sterling silver necklace is a special anniversary edition (to celebrate 16 years on QVC) with the signature of the designer, lovely guest Dominique Dinouart, laser engraved. This handcrafted piece has been executed by master silversmith Francisco Calderon Castillo in his family workshop in Taxco, Guerrero, Mexico and this one’s been inspired by running water. If you can’t wait, it’s here the Taxco Traditions Artisan hammered three section necklace in sterling silver and it’s worth £139!
It could be around your neck if you win this week’s competition. Just leave a comment below and you’re entered, perhaps say ‘enter me for the comp!’ Also tell me your favourite type of jewellery if you like – I read them all. Closing date is next Wednesday 15th August at midday – for full T&Cs go here. Winner announced next week on this blog.

Getting a Pedi at the Dabbs Salon
Had a lovely ‘medical pedicure’ at Margaret Dabbs salon including with podiatrist Cesar in this pic, ready for that night’s show with the TSV deal and guess what – due to illness I was taken off the hour! Booo! But it sold out early anyway and was great value. There’s a lot of sickness atm – get well soon Julia, Jill F, Anne and Catherine! For more to make your own feet summer ready, go here to the powerful range from Margaret Dabbs on QVC.
Guess who is in this Boyband?

Jennie and I go in search of Saturday sustenance
Funniest thing, where I live in Devon, there’s nowhere open to get coffee and food on a Saturday afternoon! Three (closed) tea rooms in three towns later, we took the trip to Bude and found out where everyone was! I wrote about it all on my homepage on my website, and said how I was exhausted and needed a rest. I had nine people staying on one night last weekend – the most ever! So it was nice to escape to a perfect seaside idyll. And Jennie came too after a lovely yoga class. Afterwards I vlogged up on the cliff top overlooking the bay – whilst Jen did some yoga moves behind me – if you saw it, excuse my friend the weird one. You can tell why I like her, can’t you. Lol.
Church concert song choices
Well our list of songs for the concert on the 22nd in the local church is now 16 songs long! Barry Parsons, my pal, the ‘singing County Councillor’ (!) is going for some big numbers. He does a fabulous ‘Bring him home’ but I’m sticking to ‘That Old Devil Love’, one of my tried and tested’s, for one of my big solos. Thing is it’s supposed to be based on songs from shows – was Old Devil Love in a show ever? Let me know so I can pretend it was on purpose! I just hope lots of people come. We’re going to be putting on some tea and cake in the interval too so it’ll be full on! And I have a choice of two songs I’d like your help with – which shall I sing?
Dream a Little Dream (weren’t the Mamas and Papas a TV show, like the Monkees? Or am I making that up?!)
Take Good Care of my Baby? Which do you think it should be? Full song list next week…
Baby Blake says first word
Yes, she said Dadda this week! Or ‘dad-dad.’ Bless her little heart! My first grandchild is now six and a half months old, is developing nicely and is obviously beautiful to my eyes. Hers are quite blue, too, out of interest – doesn’t look like they’ll be going dark brown like her dad’s! My son Brad sent me a little video of Blake Catherine saying that first word – sooo cute! Well It was either ‘dad-dad’ or ipad, one of the two! Hehe! Had a lovely few hours playing with her all afternoon on Wednesday too – precious times. Plus my daughter Lolly’s bump continues to get bigger and she’s settling in well down in West Wales too. Only six weeks now till the new one arrives!

Book of the Week
The Stranger is the latest novel to tickle my fancy. I’ve been loving the period tales of late, and this one is set in Cornwall during the second world war. It’s fab. Kate Riordan captures the atmosphere of wartime coastal town tensions perfectly and I’ve loved writing about it over on my book review blog on my website. There are tons of recommendations now for superb summer reads – what are yours?
The Bletchley Circle – San Francisco – on Catch up. ITV player can offer you a chance to get more period drama with another outing for the wartime code crackers this time over in the US of A. Following a grisly murder of one of their team, the girls are transported state side to help investigations during tense wartime operations. Loving the comparisons to the British way of living. Catch it if you can!
