Summer is officially here – yay – so that can only mean one thing, summer holidays! We recently caught up with our Brand Ambassador, Amanda Holden, to find out what her holiday plans are, how she gets summer-ready, and whether she’s a light packer? Read on for all the goss…
Summer is spent with the family so we have few trips to look forward to. I bought my husband Chris a cycling holiday in Holland for Christmas, so we all donned our Lycra and cycled from hotel to hotel. It’s a great way to see the sights, plus you can eat and eat and not put on any weight!
Then we’re going on a two week villa holiday. Again, we’ll hire bikes (there’s a theme here!), ditch the car and cycle everywhere. We’re by the sea all the time, so we’ll cycle from cove to cove. Every morning I’ll cycle to the local cake shop with the kids and stock up on bread and pastries – it’s just delicious! With all the exercise I’ll be doing I don’t have to worry about all the cheese, bread and rosé wine which will be consumed!
I’ll also be visiting my Mum in Cornwall, she lives right by the coast, plus I’m squeezing in a girly holiday with my friends and their kids too.
Wow, sounds like a busy few months you have planned. Tell us what your holiday essentials are?
Electronic devices are a no no, although the kids are allowed an iPad for the plane to keep them occupied, but that’s it! I’m not very good at packing; I over pack for everything. But I do have a little tip – roll all of your clothes, it saves so much space. Chris took me away recently for a weekend break and I only took hand luggage and still managed to pack fives dresses for two nights! I only take flat shoes too, never heels.
Beauty-wise, I love a bronzer and Tarte do an amazing palette. Liz Earle’s Instant Boost Skin Tonic Spritzer is great for refreshing your skin in the hot summer sun and the small travel size is perfect for hand luggage. Plus, I can’t go anywhere without suncream and Ultrasun is great for the whole family – apply it once and you don’t have to worry about reapplying throughout the day.
Seeing as you’re not great at packing, our next question is going to be a toughie. Which three things would you take to a desert island?
Apart from Chris and the kids, some kind of way to play music, a good book, and whole fridge full of food (OK, maybe wine!).
With all these trips planned, how do you get summer-ready?
I’m pretty healthy and exercise regularly throughout the year, but as Britain’s Got Talent is just before the summer I make sure I’m looking after my skin and I’m juicing. I have a fridge full of Jason Vale’s potions – he’s amazing!
