Those of you who are in touch with me on twitter (I'm @TheHuntley) will know I've had some major dramas with my home which have resulted in my being temporarily homeless since the 1st of April (if only it had all been some elaborate April Fools prank!).
I'm delighted to say that I have found a new Chez Huntley to call home and we move on Thursday! Having to live out of suitcases with all of our belongings in storage has been rather challenging but the Huntleys have risen to the challenge and are looking forward to a fresh new start in the new place.
The move overlaps with the major move from QVC's original home in Battersea to our new place in Chiswick, West London! It's been all systems go for quite a while. Finally, we are settling in nicely and we're so happy that so many of you have given us great feedback on the look of our lovely new studios. Thank you.
I was rather delighted with my welcome pack (pictured left)…full of great goodies. I now share a dressing room with fabulous Anne Dawson. We have a great room with a window overlooking Chiswick Park. We're looking forward to being roomies together although our shifts mean that we don't actually cross paths all that often. Hopefully we'll get some time for a nice cuppa together soon.
Amidst all this moving malarkey I had another major milestone in my life. On June 6th I turned 40! This coincided with QVC's final day of broadcasting from Marco Polo House in Battersea. I was actually really glad to be working on that day. Very symbolic waving goodbye to the past which had served us so well (and which we'll always have countless memories of) and looking forward to the beginning of a new era. It applied both to moving premises and to waving a fond farewell to my 30s. It will be exciting to see what the future brings in both cases!
In the same week I turned 40 we were also treated to the Queen's Diamond Jubilee! What a year for change and celebration this is. The road to QVC was closed to cars but we saw masses of crowds, union jacks flying, filtering through on the Sunday to watch the river pageant. They also stopped to take photos of QVC and, especially, our garden tribute to Her Majesty and Prince Phillip (pictured left)! We were even mentioned on the BBC's coverage of the event due to the attention they were receiving!
It was so special to be right there amidst the action. Had we moved to Chiswick a few days earlier than we did, we'd have missed out on that spectacular atmosphere of being right at the heart of it all.
I have postponed my 40th celebrations until later in the year; it's all a bit too hectic to be planning a big party just now. My daughter turns 18 next month, though, and has asked for us to have a joint 18th/40th do, which I am over the moon about. We are looking at August so I'll have to make a start on planning for it pretty soon. Can't quite get my head around the fact that it's June already as the weather has led me to believe otherwise!! Maybe we'll get a heat wave for Christmas?
Those of you who caught James Duigan, author of the 'Clean and Lean' book series and personal fitness guru to the stars, bringing his yummy cookbook to QVC will have another chance to see him and his wife, Christiane, on Tuesday 3rd July. I'm telling you in plenty of time as his book sold out in under eight minutes last time! I've been reading it and plan to implement his advice to create a cleaner, leaner me! Let me know if you've tried it and how you've got on.
See you soon!
Lots of love,
