Yes, dear reader, the long teasing wait is over and I can exclusively announce that the Charlie Bear's homage to a certain silver-haired presenter will be shown to the great Q public a little after midnight this coming Sunday into Monday.
I know most of you guessed correctly that it is indeed a cuddly black and grey-toned plush fox complete with a stunning white tipped brush! He has been named by Charlie and William as 'Franklin Fox'.
Whilst I was off last week I received an email from Paul, our presenter performance manager, announcing that 'Franklin' was awaiting my presence in my dressing room. I replied,"is it a good likeness?" He then replied, and I quote, "he's smooth, he's sexy, he's devilishly handsome…"
So NO, not really!!
I replied in a rapier-like, if not totally childish fashion, pointing out that, "at least I hadn't had a foul mouthed alien named after me!!" Paul applauded my riposte.
This is one small example of why the Q is a great place to work, everyone is far more busy than they've ever been before, but that underlying sense of humour and goodwill still prevails – I'd better stop – I'm getting watery-eyed! But it's true.
So the fox is out of the bag, as you can see a very dirty Toby wasn't quite sure what to make of him, but I hope Charlie Bears collectors will love 'Franklin'. Charlie and William have made a wonderful job of creating him.
For the collectors among you he stands 16" (40.6cm) high, has large endearing brown eyes, and black hand-stitched nose and mouth. Pronounced snout (my request) with long black whiskers, pointy ears tipped with hints of brown, long fluffy brush with cream tips and brown paw pads. He also has a brown faux suede collar adorned with 5 metal bells. Like the original, he's 5 times jointed! And also like the original he's part pellet-filled and can pose standing!!!
Before we unveil 'FF' we'll be launching a wonderful Today's Special Value Four Seasons limited edition auto delivery opportunity. All will be explained on the night. In short, Charlie and William have designed a series of four bears (for all seasons) named after their favourite foods from that season.
So on Sunday/Monday we'll be offering 'Hot Cross Bun', a lovely limited edition panda-style bear, but if you sign up to the auto delivery plan, in May you'll receive 'Ice Lolly', in August 'Toffee Apple' and in November 'Porridge', and be charged only the TSV price plus P&P every time !
So please join us on Sunday night, and why not call in or text us?
