I hope all’s well with you.
If you were watching at midnight last Saturday, you may have wondered why I handed over to Katy after the TomTom TSV presentation.
I had presented the 8pm Kipling hour and whilst not feeling 100% – I felt OK and didn’t really think too much of it, knowing that Dr Showbiz (as Andi Peters refers to adrenalin) and the brilliant and delightful Marie-Francoise would carry me through and indeed they both did.
Then later on during a quick run through of the launch of the TomTom TSV, with the equally brilliant James Murden, I started to really feel “wobbly” and had a “tropical moment”. My wife Tracey laughed after saying “now you know what it’s like!”.
The trouble is with my reputation for being a bit of a joker the crew were all chuckling and smiling, thinking I was messing about and I was trying to laugh it off myself, until I found I was talking gibberish! I know… at this point you’re all saying “so what’s new!”.
During my “tropical moment” I ripped off my jacket in an attempt to cool down, prompting a wolf whistle from Lee Hohbein, setting up across the studio, he too thought I was messing around.
Anyway, the run through was cut short and I wobbled off to my dressing room to recover. It soon became clear that I wasn’t fit enough to present the whole midnight hour, so my lovely producer Kerry arranged for Katy to present the rest of the hour after the TSV presentation.
I am so grateful to all involved for sorting out this rather unusual occurrence at such short notice, especially Katy.
Anyway, I’m now feeling much better – my Doc feels it was virus related and so rest has been the best medicine. I know some readers will have dealt with or be dealing with far worse, so I hope you don’t mind my light-hearted recollection and send my love and best wishes for your treatments and recovery.
I’ll be back on Monday the 10th for the return of Andi Peters’ Food Fest at it’s usual time of 7pm.
As I’ve said many times before I love working with Andi on these shows and there is always a buzz of excitement during the shows.
I know our food guests look forward to appearing and take any “leg pulling” in such good humour, which makes for entertaining shows. Andi and I never discuss or rehearse any gags or funny lines for the shows – any humour is spontaneous and natural and hopefully – funny!
There are already a few of the funnier moments on YouTube.
I hope you can join myself, Andi and a host of great guests from premium brands such as The Real Pie Company with Brett and Christine, Monty Bojangles with Robert, cheeky Kate from Gower Cottage Brownies and H Forman & Son with Lance Forman.
Let’s also not forget the “Special festive dish of the day”, the Green Seasons Festive Meat Hamper Today’s Special Value (TSV) with Pat Butcher (Herlihy) and Chef Michael.
The Green Seasons TSV comprises a 2kg Boneless Turkey Breast Joint, a 1kg Beef Topside Roasting Joint, a 1kg Boneless Gammon Roasting Joint, a pound (454g) of Pork, Sage and Onion Sausage meat Stuffing (last year’s included pork and chestnut), Pound (454g) of Pork, Cranberry and Chestnut Chipolatas (last Year’s included pork and cranberry) and finally a pound (454g) of Unsmoked Streaky Bacon. Merry Christmas!
So until next time stay virus free and well-fed !
Dale x
