A trip down memory lane

We’ve been having our annual tidy through at home. Lots of trips to the charity shops, several large bags filled to the brim for my mum and her car boot sales, and plenty of recycling as well!

Whilst ploughing through several boxes, tucked away in the depths of the cupboard under the stairs, I came across one of the many ‘mix albums’ I worked on. This was one of my favourite compilations, In the Mix 96.

Then, I dug a little deeper and found a couple of carts from my old radio show. Before everything moved to hard drive – jingles, trailers and promos on the radio were played from these. A large carousel storing hundreds of carts was to my side, to pick the commercials from, for each of the breaks. The top cart shown was my name and station ident and the one below was a promo I made for my Saturday evening show, on Isle of Wight Radio, nearly 25 years ago!

It was a packed three hour show with ‘wind up’ phone calls, the Isle of Wight chart, comedy characters, the juke box, and an hour of dance anthems… I loved it. It was an early start for me the very next morning with the Sunday breakfast show, then I’d catch the ferry to Portsmouth, followed by a train to London, to ‘sound design’ for the Top 40 on Radio 1. They were some of the best days of my career.

However, now, I get to sleep on the job! Ok, well not quite, but I’ve been loving the Kelly Hoppen TSV I’ll be launching on Monday 20th May at midnight as we head into Tuesday morning. As you can see, one of my cheeky Cairns has taken a liking to it as well 🙂

It’s the K by Kelly Hoppen, 100% cotton five-piece reversible duvet set. It includes four pillow cases (two of which are Oxford) and a duvet cover. One side features the full geometric design, turn it over and you’ll see the geometric design again but with a plain border on either side – it’s stunning. Also, of course, it’s beautiful 100% cotton and 400 thread count. It feels heavenly against the skin and is available in three fabulous colours – grey, taupe or white!

I’m really looking forward to the launch, I hope you can join us.

I’m on Twitter @mecharliebrook and Instagram mecharliebrook as well. It’s a great way to stay in touch and see a little more of behind the scenes with me at QVC as well.

Catch up soon 🙂
