Mykonos

A tale of half marathons and Greek islands…

0

Hi there,

It’s been a bit busy since my last blog, as usual! Those of you who are regular visitors to the presenter blogs might remember that in July I had a bit of an accident in a 50km ultra-marathon I was doing, and ended up in A&E with a couple of deep cuts on my leg and hand. Although it only took me a few weeks to recover physically, I realised the fall had really knocked my running confidence, so I thought I’d enter a few shorter events to try to regain it before I attempted a longer race again.

Half marathon

Hence, on what was probably the wettest Saturday in September, off I went to Somerset to run a cross-country half-marathon in and around Thorney Lakes. The route took us around the lakes, across extremely muddy fields and through woods, and I have never been so wet in my life (I could actually wring rather a lot of water out of my bra when I got home!) but, joy of joys, I managed to stay on my feet and crossed the finish line with a huge smile on my face! Confidence restored and plans now afoot (no pun intended) to enter a few more races before the year is out. Hurray!

Rather appropriately, as Greece is where the marathon originated, hubby and I then headed off to the beautiful island of Mykonos for a week to catch a last little bit of sunshine before what is bound to be a long winter. It was a week of wandering, reading and, in my case, catching up on some sleep after a few weeks of late shifts at work – I’m an early bird by nature and really struggle to sleep when I work at the other end of the day, so it was nice to get my body clock back to normal!

Of course quite a few QVC bits and pieces sneaked into my holiday wardrobe – in the photo in the pink t-shirt (which isn’t from QVC) I’m wearing my Mr Max shorts which I’ve lived in all summer, and my super comfy Vionic sandals. And in the photo with the bubbly (!) that’s a Nina Leonard jumpsuit and my Ruby Rocks sunglasses from last year. Its definitely time now to start thinking autumn/winter fashion though – I’ll share some of my recent acquisitions with you in my next blog!

Mykonos holiday

Before I go, a quick peek at the fab Today’s Special Value offer Tarte are bringing us on Sunday 14th October. The five-piece holiday make-up collection includes a gorgeous eyeshadow palette which also has a bronzer, blusher and highlighter, plus a foundation, mascara, lipstick/gloss, brush and cosmetics bag. It all comes in a beautiful presentation box so would make a lovely gift and I’ve heard a rumour about some rather nice interest-free Easy Payments too… it’s a goodie!

Tarte

That’s it for now. Have a lovely week.

Love Jackie x
