Ok, well I was really prepared for Christmas about a month ago and now it’s feeling a bit too close and I’ve still so much to do! Where did the last month go exactly?!
It’s always at this time of year I like to reminisce a little and then look ahead to the year just around the corner. 2015 has absolutely flown by. I’ve had some wonderful times on air and have been fortunate to work with some incredible guests as well as the fabulous teams behind the scenes, here at QVC, who amaze me constantly with the slick, professional output of 16 hours, live on air, every day!
I’ve made quite a few purchases myself from QVC throughout the year as gifts as well as a few treats for me along the way too. I struggle to pick a favourite but if pushed then Gower Cottage brownies is up there! Who would have thought that food would be among my favourite orders of the year ;-). I know Christmas isn’t quite with us, just yet, and I’m not wishing away the remaining weeks, by any means but I’m already looking forward to 2016.
I’m really excited about getting back on court to play tennis. It’s been over four months now. The surgery on my upper spine appears to have been a great success and I’ve been given the all clear to slowly edge my way back in to exercise. However, before tennis I’m curious to see just how much my fitness level has dropped. I’ll let you know!
I think 2016 will finally see a new kitchen to the Brook household. We have delayed and delayed for years. Don’t get me wrong, it was a beautiful kitchen when it was installed nearly thirty years ago! But now is the time to take the plunge! I have two drawers which won’t open any more (not sure what’s in them!) and a cupboard door has fallen off! I don’t mind a bit of DIY though. This was me helping out my other half’s dad to create a window seat in our home last January.
I’m also thinking it’s time to give the garden a little make over… Richard Jackson – are you free by any chance?!
My two cairn terriers love a warm sunny day in the garden, here’s one of them snoozing on the grass back in March. I’m also determined to take up dancing and singing lessons… Don’t worry, I’m just kidding!
Amazingly – I’ll be starting my 17th year with QVC in January! It has gone so very, very quickly. I think the combination of having children and mapping out the year around their term times coupled with shift work seems to make time move even quicker. I remember my first show with QVC like it was yesterday. It was a Monday morning, 9am, and the hour was a Jewellery Outlet show.
Speaking of shows I have a number of fabulous hours lined up before Christmas. This Monday 21st December I’m on air at midday with Liz Earle followed by Butler & Wilson at 2pm. I’m also thrilled to see I have a Viva Las Vegas gems show Tuesday 22nd December at 6pm. If you haven’t come across the range before it is truly beautiful and crafted to an exceptional standard.
In the meantime… keep opening the advent calendar!
