It’s been five years since I last went out on a shoot with QVC so it was lovely change to head out to a location in the east of London to film a little promo for the New Years Bodychef diet program.
Catherine Katy and I together with our lovely crew and food supremo Jo, rocked up to someone’s converted loft apartment to film a little chat about the seven day fresh food diet plan. People who have interesting homes seem very keen to rent them out for filming (and get paid handsomely for it) and I gather the place we were in was used in the M&S Christmas TV ad last year.
The idea of the day was for Catherine, Katy and myself to chat about our Bodychef experiences; what the food tasted like, how it was to order and chose options, and if there was good weight loss etc.
We had all tried it out and were very impressed with the lovely variety and tastes that we had delivered and the girls said their weight loss was pleasing (I was more keen to try the food to see if it was just another boring diet – which it is not). You can see from the pictures that the food does look great and the portion sizes are really generous and we are very excited to be launching the program on QVC on the 4th of January.
I met the owner of Bodychef , Jane, the other week and we had a chat about her business. She has the rather refreshing attitude of preferring to provide lovely appetising food for people rather than just making money. She sources all her meat from her local trusted butcher and very often the ingredients are organic but she doesn’t limit it this as she wants to choose the freshest and best ingredients she can.
To my mind she treats the shopping and preparing of the meals just like we would and that makes them rather appealing. The plan delivers a weeks worth of breakfasts, lunches, dinners and fresh fruit snacks to your door so that all you meals are taken care of. You don’t have to shop, think, plan or prepare anything and I have to say that seems to be a great solution for busy people who find their diet a problem.
There is simply a huge amount of choice and you can have meat, vegetarian, vegan , gluten or dairy free meals. There will be more news on this exciting idea soon so keep your ears open. I learned, by trying Bodychef, that dieting needn’t be boring repetitive and disappointing – you can have nice food every day AND lose weight!
Of course that’s the New Year but over the Christmas period there will be plenty of food to enjoy (and we can worry about the diet later) and we will have some wonderful food shows before the big day. I have been particularly impressed with Toppings Pies Award Winning Traditional Pork Pies…. they are delicious and so home made tasting. The only problem is choosing which ones to go for.
For a sweet treat I think you will be hard pressed to get anything better than a Gower Cottage Piece Handmade Brownie Selection, as they have a great selection of flavours and some truly beautiful gluten free options. For gifts there are so many to choose from – I have already ordered the Whittard of Chelsea Set of 6 Finest Hot Chocolate Gift Set as it was a big hit with my son last year and now there is even more for your money. I always love the taste explosions of the Joe and Seph’s range and I love the idea of Joe & Seph’s 12 Piece Festive Popcorn Stocking as there are so many exciting flavours to look forward to. For anyone with a sweet tooth we have an amazing selection of all things chocolatey too.
In between the big meals there’s always The Real Pie Company, which would be a great way to make the cook of the house’s (me!) life easier. You could also spice things up with delicious curry – try the Spiced By Rayeesa Award Winning Curry Selection.
If you have some big family get together meals and are struggling for inspiration I can recommend H Forman & Son’s Traditional Fishcakes for a starter and for the cheese course we have lots in store too.
We are also well stocked in the drinks department with beer, wines and spirits to suit every palate.
I know that I will be looking forward to planning some good ol’ nosh and drinks on my days off over the festive period.
Just some other information before we start relaxing for Christmas: those of you who spent enough to grab a voucher, you have until December 20th to use those vouchers on qualifying items and the lovely news is that every Today’s Special Value between now and last ship date for Christmas will be available in interest-free instalments !
