A little bit of gardening and some summer ‘festive’ frolics

Hi all,

As I mentioned in a previous blog, the new house (we moved in March) is almost done inside now, other than a bit of work that needs to be finished in the kitchen. So I’ve finally managed to spare some time for the garden, and on one of those very hot days recently I carried out a three-hour transformation on a very overgrown, very shady raised bed that sits next to the side gate of the house.

I spent two hours cutting everything back to try and get some light onto it and clearing all the weeds, then another hour digging holes for the new plants in what turned out to be ROCK HARD ground. Exhausting, but very satisfying! And I’m so pleased with the result – here’s a before and after shot for you! We reckon the garden’s going to take two to three years to sort out – there is SO much to do! – but I’m going to very much enjoy whipping it into shape. More photos to follow!

I can’t believe how quickly this year is going though…when we get to Christmas in July day at QVC (an annual tradition when we have one crazy day selling all things Christmas in the middle of July) you know you’re about half way through summer, eek! I really enjoyed the day at work though and wanted to say thank you to Scott on Twitter who made this “festive” picture of me and Eilidh presenting the Morning Show and sent it to me.

Now just a quick peek at a couple of fashion Today’s Special Value offers coming up in the next week. On Saturday Skechers will be bringing us a slip-on trainer in a textured mesh design which is light and breathable for this warm weather. It comes in a choice of classic colours (Black, Black/White, Navy and White) and fashion shades (Blue, Mauve and Red) and this one fits true to High Street sizes.

And then on Tuesday 6th August Kim & Co brings us a fab pair of croco faux leather slim-leg trousers in both Petite (28”) and Regular (30”) lengths. In Black, Bordeaux, Navy, Thyme and Pewter these will be a great alternative to jeans and a perfect transitional piece as we move into early autumn. I already have a pair of the pleather leggings from a couple of years ago so I’m looking forward to trying these!

Speak soon!

Love Jackie x

      Hi Pam,
Yes ferns and hostas are good in the shade so hopefully they’ll be happy there! And I really do love gardening shows, I always learn something new! More pictures to follow.
