A great homeware offer is coming your way

I’m sure you’ll agree that the gorgeous weather I think the entire country enjoyed over the Easter Weekend was a wonderful reminder of how therapeutic it is to be able to get outside in the fresh air and warmth of some sunshine. I’m definitely someone who feels better when I’ve been outside and try to have at least a small amount of time under the sky, whatever colour it is, every day.

I really don’t mind if it’s raining, but I was glad last week was dry and warm. I’m looking after my granddaughter Zoe for two days a week at the moment, as Bex has started back at her work as a doctor. From next month Zoe will go to a nursery, but I’m filling in until that happens, and I’ve discovered that the best way to keep Zoe happy is to be outside with her. At first, she was NOT happy or impressed that her mummy had left her for a while, but last week we went to a children’s farm and a playground, both of which she loved. The rest of time we spent in the garden picking daisies!

We have a Today’s Special Value on Wednesday that would be a useful addition to any garden, especially if you spend time eating (or drinking!), entertaining or simply sitting in your green space. It’s a rug that is designed to go outside as well as be used indoors, and is therefore incredibly versatile. We’ve featured these type of rugs on QVC before and they have always been very popular so I’m hoping you can join Simon and myself on The Morning Show at 9am to have a good choice of the three sizes and five colours that we will start with at midnight.

This time the pattern is a simple Moroccan-inspired dot trellis design which will work in most different styled rooms as well as outside. I have one in the living end of our kitchen, next to the sofa by the French windows that open onto the decking which leads to the garden. There’s a lot of traffic in and out, and not always the cleanest of feet, so the rug is perfect as it’s stain resistant and washable.

But it also works well out on the decking, which is old and really needs replacing. Apart from looking very tired, it can get slippy when it rains so the rug works to hide the old wood and also make it safer.

When I got home after my rowing training this morning, I felt like a few moments to myself with a cup of tea and the newspapers. So I rolled up the mat, put it on the grass and plonked myself down on it! The texture is surprisingly soft for such a robust rug, and it stopped the dampness from the ground making me feel chilly – this weekend has been much cooler than last. But if it is sunny, a UV resistant coating ensures the rug’s colour doesn’t fade.

I think it would also be perfect for areas like a hallway where there’s always a lot of footfall and carpets get dirty or worn.

Do try to take a look if you can, but don’t forget our website will show you all you need to know if you can’t catch us on air. While you’re there, check out our beauty department. We held our Great Beauty Event on Sunday with some amazing offers and four  interest-free payments on everything, to help you spread the cost. Lots of what’s left is still listed online with the Easy Pay option still available – why don’t you see if your favourite brands are there?

Have a good week, and do try to get outside in the fresh air. It’s good for the soul!

Take care

Hi Kathy I agree taking grandchildren out is like a tonic ,I look after my 10 month old granddaughter four days a week and by 10,00 am every morning we go out walking if weather good or if it’s bad we go to garden centres, play centres or even the supermarket cafe ,It’s amazing how fast they settle into the new routine and adapt ,Its all absorbing and my motto is forget house hold chores just enjoy them and as the saying goes; nice to hand them back again.
