A gentle dusting…

Snow sceneYou would have thought an avalanche had occurred overnight at the sounds of the delighted squeals this morning which catapulted me out of bed!

Alas, a mere surface spread of the white stuff had occurred – a gentle dusting of snow. My daughter was convinced they could make a snowman … granted, even she figured they would need to be Lego-sized!

I'm hoping for a few more flakes! It would be fun to go sledging as last year was a bit of a washout. We waited for more snow to come just a little too long so by the time we went out, we were surfing on grass!

Happy New Year by the way …when is it too late to say that? Not yet I think as this is my first blog of 2013! And do you say two thousand Snow sceneand thirteen or twenty thirteen? Graham Norton is adamant that it's the latter but I'm not so sure.

You may have noticed, I'm growing my hair (again) I tried (well, it wasn't much of a try as it lasted all of 8 weeks), about two years ago as I decided I wanted long hair when I turned 40 ….which was last month.

But with the turn came a new desire so here we are … and so far so good, it's the longest it's been in a decade! It seems to be growing at a pace but I'm wondering if that's just because it's short …I'm not looking forward to the plateau stage!

Place your bets, see if I manage – it's getting harder every day! I'm wondering by the end of it how many hours I will have spent attached to a hair brush and styling tool! I've not even owned a hairbrush since the 90s!

    Hi pippa.
Good luck with the hair growing as I am doing exactly the same thing. My hair has been for short for a number of years. Mine too is growing quickly, but now am at that horrid inbetween stage that makes you just want to grab the scissors again. Will persevere a little longer. But not holding my breath for too long. Good luck to us both eh?

    Hi Pips!
How are you? Happy New Year to you too! I don’t think it’s ever too late if you haven’t seen the person/people – well if it’s in January! There is politeness! I hope you had a nice Christmas and avoided the bugs? I have to say your view and patio is stunning!!! And the doggy..so cute. I hope you get sledging but I can’t say I like snow and ice! Makes me nervous! I have to say as well I watched you and lovely Amanda on Lola Rose today and how lovely is she?! Great fun. You were both great. How is Nicki? Has she had the baby?
    Take care in the snow!
    Susan x

Good luck with the hair, like you I have wavy/curly hair and find it so much easier when it is short. Growing it is always a temptation but then having it cut again feels so free! Saying that I wash my and leave it to dry it never has the style and finish which yours always has. Am I allowed to say that your short chic hair is the best out of all the presenters?
    ‘Happy New Year’

Hi Pippa I hope you can persevere with growing your hair. I am 50 something and have been growing my hair for 2 years. I decided I was done with fringes and have grown it out. My hair is one lenghth now and just sits below my shoulders. I can do lots of different styles but I think this is as long as I want to grow it. I have always admired your style both dress and hair wise and I think you would look fab with longer hair.So good luck and I look forward to a Pippa with long flowing locks.best wishes lyn xx

Please, please please don’t grow you hair, some people are just meant to have short hair and you and I are definately one of those,I even take pics of you to my hairdresser as I love the looks you get.I feel really frumpy when mine starts to get long and at 48 I’m not ready for that!!

oh the hair argument lives on!! The one thing that I hold on to is that when my hair was long, everyone said exactly the same as those of you who like it short are saying now …just the other way around. They would say not to cut it off, that short hair would never suit me and that I would look like a boy. So hey, I guess there’s only one way to discover if long hair will suit me this time around …at least I know it’ll be ok if I want to cut it all off again!! Good luck Rhonda with growing yours too …let’s see who can hold out the longest!!
Oh and Tracey, your argument is compelling ….and when you put it like that, of course it’s easy to see, it is indeed twenty thirteen! I stand happily corrected …thank you 🙂
BTW, my light dusting pales into insignificance now we’ve had so much snow over the last few days, it’s been wonderful!!!

Hi pipa I think your hair looks great iam kinda in a pickle to I’ve got long hair I dyed it dark brown from blonde and want to cut it short i think when you’ve had your hair in a certain way for a long time it’s hard I keep catching myself in the mirror and having to double take so used to seeing blonde person I think you’ve got great style so what ever you decide it’s going to look fab from Lisa x

Pips, Saw you on beauty day and your hair is fab. Being that bit longer it changes you completely and I think it’s gorgeous. Keep it up!!

Thank you ladies ….Lisa, don’t fret, I’m EXACTLY the same!! I’m sooo used to seeing me with short hair that it’s so off putting seeing reflections in the mirror …AND monitors whilst on TV…and thinking I look like a total stranger. It’s odd to say the least! I’ve just realised, to make it even worse, for the first time in 10 years I’m having my website re built …and NO photos are relevant any longer as I look so different …equally I’m in the inbetween stage so I might just have to put on hats for the photos so whatever I end up with will fit in!!!
